First and last panels? Could work. Seems resizable.
Check out my fanfiction!Seriously? MORE comic strips? There are tons of examples without all the dialogue. I'm thinking a title card or DVD cover prominently featuring the main character(s):
Those are just three examples out of dozens and dozens. Do we really need yet another overly wordy comic panel?
I'm gonna have to agree with redhed. Not that I think the suggestion is bad - quite the contrary, it's really good! - but we rely on webcomics a lot, lately, and here we have the perfect opportunity to use an image that isn't a webcomic. We should capitalize on it. (Provided we don't wind up with a duplicate image from the work's page, anyway.)
Moon◊I think a plain logo is just very dull. Also can pretty much be described with the words "Just A Face And A Caption" (though not necessarily that trope).
The OP suggestion plays a good joke on it, and it illustrates the trope much clearer.
Check out my fanfiction!I agree, we rely too much on comics in IP, when an image works just fine.
The cartoon is hilarious, and I think we could use it for something else, but in this case, simplicity is best. The R&S pic is already on the work page IIRC, so my vote is either for the Cosby or Mary Tyler Moore pics, and of those I lean toward MTM.
On balance, I think the MTM pic is best of those suggested. The cartoon is good but it's also huge and you need at least 2 panels from it in order to illustrate the trope.
Absent-minded professor and Neverwinter Nights DMWhat's this? No one's suggested Oprah Winfrey's Oprah Winfrey Network yet?! It's probably the biggest and most aptly named eponymous show in existence, in my opinion:
P.S.: And if anyone wants to complain about the size, I think its huge-ness only adds to the "me"-centredness that belies this trope.

You can't get any clearer than a title card for this trope. The dialogue in the comic strip is unnecessary.
I disagree. It specifically calls attention to that he, the host, is called Marty.
And you can always get clearer. The absolutely clearest you can get is to spell it out in text along with an informative image, and possibly arrows that point to what you're supposed to look at and why.
Check out my fanfiction!Hooked a crowner; I added one for The Ed Sullivan Show that can have the extraneous stuff cropped out.
Bump for votes.
One more bump for votes.
Got us a winner. The new pic's up, potholed, and tagged. A caption on this one's pretty much superfluous. Locking up.

This trope has no picture actually, so would a resized version of this one be acceptable?
