Well, I guess there'll always be Mac Farlane's pre-2004 work to enjoy...
I will note that if the only appeal to Family Guy was watching these characters be mean to each other, it wouldn't last very long; there is a reason it's still on the air and Allen Gregory is not.
I do have to admit, Sponge Bob gets the worst; I have not heard that much about Family Guy recently but I had to convince tons of people that Stephen Hillenburg not only approved every episode, but actually cared about them.

"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."I have no strong opinions on Spongebob either way since I have watched very little of the show. Either way, I'm wary of bringing it too much into what IS a Family Guy discussion.
Try saying that you like CN shows made during the mid 2000s. You'll be blacklisted. Much worse than Sponge Bob.
Any who, when does this special air?
Supports cartoons being cartoony!Camp Lazlo was a good show. My Gym Partners A Monkey was decent. Squirrel Boy was OK.
Bring on the death squads!

"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."Never watched any of those three. Sorry to disappoint you, Massochism Boy.
Perfectly fine.
I think I might be the Armond White of TV Tropes.
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."I don't remember the mid-2000 having that many hated shows compared to the late-2000's(essentially the Dork age of CN when CN real started).
Never will understand how liking a show or some sort of media can make you a bad person.Sure some one will probably question your tastes or joke around(I know I've been poked fun of for some shows I like),but I don't see how it could make you a bad person(unless you like something like a snuff film or something like Boku no Pico).
My Tumblr "If theirs one thing I'm good at, it's blowing" Jesse Cox 2013They also had Chowder and Flapjack, which got us through those troubled times. They were better liked than the shows I mentioned above - at least with adults.
I have seen it happen and while I won't give any details, when people attack the fans of a work, implying there is something wrong with them if they like it, it is a definite low point.

"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."This was also a time when Johnny Test was decent. If it gets as much vitriol as I've seen on the Net... It must have gotten bad, man.
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."Scott
believe or not, but many of the mid 2000s cn shows get a lot of backlash. I.e the ones Aldo mentioned and HHPAY.
Squirrel Boy was pretty mediocre though aside from the voices

Supports cartoons being cartoony!I actually like the Annoying Orange and love Uncle Grandpa.
Uncle Grandpa is awesome. Then again, I found Un Chien Andalou to be easy to follow, so I may have more of a taste for "weird for weirdness sake"
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatWould your liking of the show decrease if I mentioned that apparently John K. doesn't think the show sucks? (If so, this is the first modern cartoon he hasn't outright despised since Cow And Chicken.)
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."I'd say he's got good taste. But he's still an ass.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatIt's a rare occurrence. A cartoon that isn't his or from before the 60s that John K. doesn't despise.
Either he's getting mellower or the world has turned upside down.

"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."Oh the topic of old John, here are some drawings he made before the show aired

Oh and he has praise and liked shows made after the 60s. But I rather not talk about that. I don't want to turn this into a John k defense thread

Supports cartoons being cartoony!Nah, I have known about John K's opinion for a long while now.
For the record, I think John K. is highly talented in his own way, just too tightly wrapped into his own views.
So, back on topic, I have an unusually request. I am going to watch this, and I don't know a lot about Family Guy. Will there be a spot that lists the inside jokes and recurring jokes in the special? I'm assuming that inside jokes from both shows will be used.
Then why isn't South Park so hated? The two shows are more alike than people are willing to admit.
Fair enough. However, I haven't seen these shows bashed as much on the general threads as I have FG and Sponge Bob, but I'll stick by my word. Apparently other shows do get the same backlash.
Again, I don't care if people legitimately criticize the show, I just wanted to know why it deserves the MOST bile. That's all.
Probably. Maybe the references page on the episode's entry on the Simpsons wiki will cover them.
Thanks! Just in case, I'll also check the wiki for Family Guy. I'm assuming that one exists.
I haven't seen that much of South Park myself (just the first few episodes, the movie, the one where the boys get Japanese weapons, and Cartoon Wars) so I can't really say why South Park doesn't get bile, but Family Guy I know for sure has done:
An episode that says that "There is no God if you're ugly and your parents are abusive" (Not All Dogs)
Made several 9/11 Jokes ( I know WHY, but still...)
Made SEVERAL disrespectful cutaways (Elmer killing Bugs, Walt Disney forcing Minnie Mouse to strip naked, Quagmire raping Marge and killing the Simpsons family. YMMV on Peter kicking Lucy from Peanuts unconscious being disrespectful to Charles Schulz)
How they portray gays and trans people (Ida, Jasper, and Peter in "Family Gay" were all camp gays/trans, which is stereotypical)
Made the most overused and most offensive Disney joke ever ( the Disneyverse versions of characters beating up Mort because he's Jewish)
Then there's Seahorse Seashell Party, which basically says to "stay with your abusive family, because they need a lightning rod to handle all the dysfunction (Can be seen as hypocritical, as Screams of Silence was aired after Seahorse. Meg's abuse itself can be a big reason as to why FG gets a lot of bile)
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!
Oh please.I've seen much harder bile thrown at other shows.
