A new season of this show started a couple of weeks ago and I was hoping fans of it could discuss.

I don't think it's aired in the US yet, though I may have just missed it. Can anyone else confirm? I think we're supposed to get our first new episode this Friday.

Saw the first two episodes and was pretty surprised to see them get away with referring to Weapons of Mass Destruction. Also, goddammit Allie you do not give away an incredibly powerful magic artifact to darkness monsters just because you don't trust yourself with it! Give it to Gabe or, better yet, Master Jaha. Not to a relative of the villainous bitch you stole it from in the first place! Gah!!!

[up][up] It aired on the Hub a couple of weeks ago. It shows news episodes every friday on 6:30pm. [up] I think that it was more like the writers wanted to get rid of the mask because they realized that it was too powerful and gave the heroes too much of an advantage in season 1.

Sad, because it didn't say anything about new seasons. Too bad (Not really) that the number of viewers on this show is probably 10 times more in the Brony fandom, and this show is so overshadowed by even "Pound puppies"![lol]

Sorry to break it to you, but this show is TANKING in ratings. I love it, but the only reason there's a second season is because The Hub is awesome.

[up]This. Right. HERE. I watch it occasionally - it's not the best ever, nor is it something i keep up with. It simply needs more love and respect for being legitimately decent, though!

Even if I had different face, I AM STILL DISGRACED.

Hows the merchandise selling though? As I learned lately, ratings aren't the only thing that determines a show's fate.

[up]I think it would do better if they sold 12 inch figures than just trading cards. That's just my taste.

Thoughts on the latest episode:

Looks like Nigel is still harboring some doubts about siding with the Choten, or more specifically, what he's doing to the creatures.

Carny, you idiot. Were you really that desperate to impress your lackeys?

Hmm, I wonder if Lucy will end up becoming a duelist as well?

Nice moment with Ray and Allie, with them both trying to apologize to each other. And now we know where Ray and his mom are staying.

I like how Allie and Bob both keep wondering why they're trying to help Carny, who, though he has a Freudian Excuse, is still an ungrateful jerk.

And we end with Carny going through some 'training' via the Choten and his crew, and with Lucy taking down the picture she took of the creature and still with her memories intact.

Overall, another good episode, with possible foreshadowing for lots of future events.

I think I may be keeping this topic going by myself, but eh.

It seems like Alakshmi and the Armored Girl might form a Wild Card faction.

The show's writing is pretty fucking subpar, but I like looking at the flash colors and I have nostalgia for Duel Masters so I watch the day new episodes are out.

I actually think the writing is pretty good, in that all the continuity is consistent and the characters react, for the most part, in realistic ways. The area I think it struggles in is during fights, where there don't seem to be any hard and fast rules for how much damage can be taken before someone loses.

For me, it's kind of like Monsuno. It's lack of strategy and tornaments make it more enjoyable for me than Pokemon. It's just the premise and marketing is so dry and tired that I easily become bored. But one thing this series has done that no other monster battle cartoon attempts is having a TRUE black guy as part of the main cast!

[up][up][up]I highly disagree, the writing in this show is way better than most toyetic cartoons and it keeps me interested for the next episode.

There are no surprises, everything is cliched and the characters are all pretty flat. Did Nigel really seem like the type to turn evil just because they weren't following him? He isn't even showing the same honor he had as a good guy and is now suddenly okay with killing and hurting innocents. The show presents the kids' way as unambiguously right, and that's bad since these traditions have kept the world at peace for centuries. This show is pretty basic stuff: it's not terrible, just really really basic. It is indeed better than crap like Bakugan, Monsuno, Huntik, Beyblade Metal [Insert Word Here] etc.

The new ep... I had a hunch that Ray's grandfather knew about Kaijudo, but this ep proved that wrong. Oh whale.

[up]Monsuno is pretty okay, but a bit gratingly boring at times, But dead on with Bakugan.[lol] Plus, is it just me or do all these "Pokemon clones" need to make an ordinary, boring-ass thing look cool? Beyblade uses tops, Bakugan used marbles(I guess that's what they were.), Monsuno uses... TUBES? But Kaijudo decided on magic... in the form of gloves. SERIOUSLY!?

[up] Honestly if this show didn't have merchandise backing it I highly doubt it would have last long. Also considering that a lot of action shows have been canceled lately due to lack of toys and merchandise. I don't care what kind junk they sell as long as it keeps the show alive.

This show has the distinct advantage that a lot of those other shows don't. They are created to give largely new toys exposure, while this show doesn't need to do that since Kaijudo/Duel Masters is already an established game and is really only using the new show to suck kids in.

I was meaning to post my review about Friday's episode: "Extracurricular activities" on here.

So here's where I stand on this show: It's... not the best. BUT! it's one of the better monster battle series i've seen in a long time.

With Pokemon, I just felt that same ol' enthusiastic young hero wants to battle to be a champ and live his dumb ass dreams. Going on and on in boring tounaments all leading up to the season finale where Ash must fight some life threatning evil. This series has reluctant heroes with equal personalities rather than Young hero, The sidekick, and the token girl. Plus, this series is more rugged, profound, and hits the ground running with just going into monster battles and no long ass tournaments. Just saving the world.

And, Like Gargoyles, it's one of the more mature and darker shows on the Hub. It's still pretty dull at times with all this "YOU BROKE DA RULEZ" shit, but I can get into it because the characters are more realistic than most japaneese card/monster battle game cartoons.

I'm surprised this show did not get a thread sooner. Halfway through the first episode, and we already have such things as open racism, magic vs technology, and a discussion of philosophies.
