Alright, to avoid clutter in the signup thread, I'm putting the Lazans' description here. I tried to keep it to the relevant details, but I've been developing these guys for quite some time so uh... Sorry about the impending wall-o-text.

  • Physiology: By appearance, Lazans are simple to describe; take a typical lizard man ala DnD (Lazans are usually green, though rarely there are exceptions.) and enlarge them up to nine feet tall. The rest of the body is proportionally sized too, so Lazans are well known for having an incredible amount of brute strength, at least when compared to Humans and similarly sized species. Lazans are naturally almost completely fearless, due to differences in the ways their brains process emotions compared to Humans. This also leads to some rather strange differences in what they consider right and wrong. However, despite their strength and strange customs, they are by no means warmongering or bloodthirsty by nature; they do not go seeking combat, however any hostile move towards them will be met with fierce retaliation.

  • History: The Lazans' homeworld of Saudor is a rather desolate desert planet, and up until no more than a hundred years ago, the Lazans were a simple tribal people living there; their technology on par with those of Native Americans at the time the European settlers arrived. Their culture and customs were very similar to Native Americans too. This changed when an alien ship of still unknown origins crashed on the planet and was found by one of the Lazan tribes. Due to one of the specific technologies the ship held, the tribe was able to adapt this new technology with incredible speed; they quickly forged alliances with or conquered every other tribe on the planet, unifying all Lazans under one rule, the Saudorian Empire. Now they've turned their attention to space, and while their area of influence is still small, it is growing.

  • Society: The Saudorian Empire is of course ruled over by an Emperor, but also a council of tribal leaders who with a majority vote can overrule any decision made by the Emperor; with the exception of military movements, which the Emperor has absolute control over. Speaking of the military, the Saudorian Empire's military and their police are the same organization, because Lazans don't see the need for military and police to be two separate things; so technically, the Saudorian Empire is a police state. This mainly seems barbaric and oppressive by the Earth Alliance, but the Lazans have no problem with it. Towards most other races, Lazans show an odd form of fantastic racism, pity. Not a sarcastic "oh you're so lame and we're so cool" pity like Elves in fantasy settings typically have, but actual, genuine pity. They see most other races as weak, and feel sorry for them not being like themselves. It's only racist by technicality, and there's no real hate involved; a good example would be a common sight of a Lazan tourist visiting another planet and helping other people carry their luggage.

  • Technology: The Saudorian Empire's technology is about on par with that of the Earth Alliance, with some notable downsides and advantages. For starters, they have no transporter technology, however their ships have no trouble whatsoever entering and exiting planetary atmospheres; most of them can even land. They don't have matter replicators, but instead have "matter re-convertors" that can manipulate matter on an atomic level to change any substance into any other substance. However, density and mass still matter, so to change say, paper into metal takes a lot of paper to get a bit of metal. Their most prized and secretively held technology is an advanced neural interface helmet; their pilots use these to basically become one with their crafts. The pilot literally starts to perceive things as if they were the ship or vehicle they were controlling, not a person inside it. It's used in all their vehicles, so one may wonder how they keep the design so secret? Simple, they're all laced with explosives set to go off if the vehicle is disabled, with tons of redundant fail safes to make sure that happens so the technology can't fall into the hands of anyone else. Finally, their weapons are simply based on disrupters.

  • Relation with the Earth Alliance: A little tenuous, but ultimately friendly. The Saudorian Empire would be wary of the Earth Alliance's ability to potentially invade them with their larger dominance and numbers, and wouldn't care that the Earth Alliance kept assuring them that they wouldn't do that. Other than that, they would be friendly with the Earth Alliance and more than willing to team up against a common foe.
