Myouren Gakuen (Monstergirl Highschool)

It was a bright sunny day in early spring, the sun was shining, and school was over for the day. Those who had already formed clubs were busy recruiting new members from those who were undecided, and people were looking around to see what the school had to offer. Everything was completely normal for a Japanese school at the beginning of the year.

Except the students.

For instance, the Student Council President, jacket tied around her waist and shirt slightly unbuttoned to reveal generous cleavage (reminding her that she needed to get some larger shirts in the next few days, this was way too tight—it was amazing the buttons hadn't come off) was busy flicking through a rulebook, one tentacle wrapped firmly around a sign announcing what she represented, and some others offering forms to join, and pens to sign with. There was even a thick stack of spares held slightly closer to her body, in case the other clubs ran out.

Maybe I should have gone for the Japanese-style uniform... even if this looks much smarter; I think that would suit me more. I guess that's why there's a choice...

"Come on, join the cooking club! It's... ta... sty? That doesn't make much sense..."

Sasaki Akane raised the advertising script and held it up in front of herself, frowning. She had been told to, well... advertise. Stand in front of the cooking club recruitment spot and loudly proclaim the glories of the cooking club, and how utterly wonderful it was and how everyone ever should join it and all that good stuff! She didn't have a problem with this. She liked cooking, and getting more members for the cooking club was a Number One Top Priority! But, well...

"'It's tasty'...? That's the slogan we came up with?" frowning more, Akane tucked one arm across her stomach and held the script up. She hadn't looked it over too closely until now, to be honest, and.. The food was tasty. Calling the club itself tasty was just weird.

Akane's spade tail twitched, and her small wings flapped slightly in mild irritation. Really now... that was a weird way to represent the club.

She needed to think of something better.

On the track field, a stern-looking girl was barking orders at a line of other girls, one of those girls being a certain Ezokami Hitomi. "Alright, listen up! I'm glad that all of you are interested in the Track team, but space is limited and we only want the best of the best! Therefore, we'll be holding tryouts this Thursday after school! Practice hard and good luck to all of you!" With that, the prospective Track team was dismissed.

"Finally!" Hitomi cried, hopping into the air. As soon as she landed, she sprinted to the Common area to begin recruiting for the Drama club, which wasn't going to be holding tryouts, and was in fact looking for new members. She decided that perhaps a bit of improvisation was in order. As soon as she entered the area, she shouted, "Soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the...DRAMA CLUB! Come and join us fine lot of thespians if you don't have enough drama in your life!"

Never staying in one place for too long, she kept an eye out for prospective members.

Looking around the school, Mizu was definitely excited, she saw all kinds of girls walking around the place and all she thought was that it would be really fun to make friends with them. Walking along the area carrying her capace-styled backpack with her, Mizu had already gotten into the Swimming and Anime Appreciation club, she wasn't even sure if she would be able to be active in one club, much less two, but as long as she had her fun, it would be worth it for her, as she walked, she heard a certain Succubus inviting girls to join the Cooking Club, she got interested and went to talk with the girl, just to see her struggling to understand the advertising that she herself was doing, the scene was enough to make the Kappa smile.

"If the club is tasty, does it mean that the equipment is made of food too?" she teased, giggling playfully and keeping a warm smile on her face, it then suddenly changed into a thoughtful expression as she looked up, or at least, looked a bit more up, being smaller than most girls meant that she also had to look up just to talk to them face to face "You know... It would be really nice if it was, though I guess some people would be tempted to eat it, not to mention insects..." she said as she seemed to trail off in her thoughts, but she soon turned to face the succubus again with a friendly smile glued to her face.

"I mean, really now, shouldn't it be about cooking tasty food, not about-eh?"

Akane's complaints about the cooking ceased when she realized that someone was speaking to her. Looking away from the script, then somewhat down, her eyes fell on the form of a small kappa girl. She blinked, once, inclining her head slightly to the side, before quickly realizing what she should be doing. "Oh, well... er..."

... Equipment made out of food...? That was just... ridiculous! But Akane's natural helpfulness and usually-friendly disposition won out.

"The equipment isn't made of food, that would probably make it pretty hard to cook," she continued, "But we've got plenty of non-equipment food at the cooking club! After all, uh, even if the equipment were made of food, you wouldn't be allowed to eat it."

Akane put on a bright, friendly smile. A new member of the cooking club could be standing right before her!

"My name is Sasaki Akane, I'm here for Cooking Club Recruitment!" Akane introduced herself. It would be a bit rude not to do so, and she would like to get to know her possible new member as well.

Mizu was quite amused by how the girl reacted to her, letting out a few more giggles.

"I know, I know, I was just kidding a bit." she said as she still giggled a bit more "My name is Arakawa Mizu, nice to meet you, Sasaki-chan! she introduced herself, already trying to make her first new friend, though admitelly she was pretty sure that she was only interested in her joining the club, to which she stopped to think for a bit "Cooking... I was never good at that and I don't want to give a bad reputation to the club either, but being able to cook must be so nice... Hmmm..." she said, actually thinking aloud and not even noticing it, her expression was one of the clear doubt as well, she lowered her head for a bit as she tried to come to a conclusion.

Oh, she wasn't good at cooking...? But... she seemed interested! No, Akane couldn't let this slip away. A new member would not simply slip through her fingers. But she'd have to sell the club from another angle... oh, what to do...

Wracking her brain, Akane quickly came to a conclusion she felt was an ideal one.

"Well, if you can't cook, we could always use taste-testers, Arakawa-san," she said with a smile. "And the cooking club is a great place to learn about cooking!"

This, this was the right angle to approach this scenario from. Akane's small wings flapped in excitement. This was going to work! And then they'd have another nice member of the cooking club!

Mizu's eyes then went wide as she heard Sasaki, first because that meant that she was speaking aloud and second because it seemed like the greatest idea ever! Taste good food every day and also learn how to cook, all for free, she was sooooo sold!

"That's a great idea, Sasaki-san! Sign me in! I'm all up for joining this club!" she said, flailing her arms up and down with her hands closed, very excitedly and with a wide smile on her face, she was so excited with the idea that she even let some of the water on the plate on her head, which was more like a hole on the center of it that was full of water, spill a bit.

"Alright!"

Akane was very, very pleased with herself. A new member! Oh, this was going to be great. She was certain the kappa girl would enjoy herself in the cooking club, as well. However, the water spilling was a bit worrying.

"You might want to be careful, spilling all your water would be pretty bad right now," warned Akane. She was genuinely concerned, she knew, or at least thought, that kappa became immobile from losing all the water that they had. "Calm down, and I'll give you one of the sign-up sheets."

It was then that Mizu stopped and looked around her to see that some parts of the floor were wet now, she then gives a smile to Sasaki.

"Don't worry, even if I spilled all my water, I can produce more, though if I do waste too much water I'll end up dehydrating, but I carry bottles of water in my backpack just in case!" she said, looking quite cheerful "So... What do I have to sign?" she asked, she was already used to the process, but it was a way to bring the topic back to the cooking club.

Being able to fly allowed a girl a number of advantages over ground-bound classmates. Advantages such as being able to fly above the assemblage of other monster girls who were promoting clubs. From Kanae Kasumi's vantage point it was awfully hard to discern what clubs were presently recruiting. Details became difficult to pick out when all you could really see was what kind of girl was in a particular spot. With the exception of the one who burst in shouting something about drama. Some kind of wolf or canine girl.

An invitation, yes, but not directed at herself specifically. The angel was determined to join whichever club invited her first; it had to be a personal invitation to count though. One that showed genuine interest in herself as a member rather than a blanket statement to just any girl. This might be more of a challenge than it sounded - Kasumi tended to scare off potential friends just by not getting things. Like the fact that the message on her voice mail was a recording of her saying, "I don't understand.. why do you want me to say my name?"

Staying up in the air wasn't going to get her invited to a club, so she returned to the earth. Or ground at least. Kasumi swooped down like some oversized raptor and landed in a crouch. She then stood erect, flexing her black wings and surveying the area with what seemed a grim expression. No one immediately approached her. As such she strolled forward with purpose, expression somewhat upset despite her actually being hopeful someone would ask her to join a club.

At one point she spotted a girl with numerous tentacles, all of which appeared busy. Perhaps if Kasumi initiated communication it could be helpful.

"What is it you are representing?" she asked stoically, eyes flitting to the sign up sheets to try and spot a club name or something.

Sakura looked up, blinking a few times and moving some of her tentacles aside to have a clearer view of the girl approaching her, "Me? I'm the Student Council. Currently the entirety of the Student Council. Spare forms are in that stack over here."

The indicated tentacle rose up a little to draw attention to itself before lowering again. Like the rest, it was a sort of teal colour, one not too at odds with the predominant colour in the school uniform.

Kasumi stood there staring at the tentacles holding the spare forms, wondering how she was supposed to respond. Not exactly an invitation to join the Student Council. That the girl was the only member of said organization meant that clearly she could use extra help. But whether that meant she wanted the angel to be part of it was something that Kasumi was completely uncertain about. Relating to non-human girls was proving just as difficult as those considered 'normal'.

"Yes, there appear to be spare forms there," she observed, looking back up from the tentacles to the girl's face, "This is a club, then?"

"Ah, alright," Akane noted with relief. So the whole 'immobility when they run out of water' thing wasn't true? Or was that just with some kappa and not with others? Well, whatever the case, it didn't look like it was going to happen with Mizu. Akane grabbed one of the cooking club sign-up sheets and offered it to the kappa girl.

"It's the Cooking Club Sign-up sheet," she explained, "So that you're all signed up and ready to start attending meetings."

"'Kay!" said Mizu, she then took her backpack off and searched inside it for a pen, it took her a while, but she managed to find it in the maze that was her backpack.

She then took the sign-up sheet and quickly started filling it, she had already done it twice now, so it was easy enough by that point, not only that, but Mizu was able to write pretty fast and with a good handwriting to boot, a shame that when it came to reading what she just wrote for studying she could never keep her focus to do so, not long after getting the sheet on her hands she soon gave it back to Sasaki, completely filled up.

"Here it is! Am I in now?" she asked, with a cheerful disposition.

"Well, I need to get this back to the rest of the club," replied Akane, taking the sheet back. Her tiny wings flapped happily as she did. A new member, already! And without having to use that weird slogan that made no sense. "But I'm sure you'll get in. Of course, it might take a little while, since I'm going to stay here and keep trying to recruit more new members."

Akane paused for a moment.

"Without using this silly slogan..."

"Oh, all right! And about the slogan... Hm... 'Cooking Club: Food for the body and mind!', or 'thought' instead of 'mind' if you want a pun, what do you think?" suggested Mizu, giggling, she knew her idea was going to be swatted aside, but at least it was a way for her to start helping in some way, besides, it at least made more sense than the previous one.

"It counts as a club, yes," Sakura said, lowering two tentacles—one holding a pen, the other a form, already filled in with the council's information—towards the angel, "Would you like to join?"

Kasumi gazed upon the two tentacles extended towards her with great intensity; an intensity probably better reserved for peering into the soul of an individual and determining their virtue after death. She wasn't certain she had heard this girl right. Nothing seemed off about the question, though. Not that Kasumi was particularly qualified to determine a person's sincerity. She reached out and took the pen and form. Sure enough it was already filled out with information and required only her own input.

"You are inviting me?" she asked, but was already filling out the Student Council form. Her handwriting was precise and flowing, though she seemed to be incapable of writing kanji.

A moment later she returned the pen and form to Sakura. For the first time that afternoon, she was actually smiling in a fittingly angelic manner, "You have my thanks. I am Kanae Kasumi."

Sakura took the piece of paper gracefully and folded it away in one pocket, smiling at Kasumi and straightening up a little. For a normal person, this might mean gaining a tiny bit of height. For Sakura, who'd been stood in the same place, slouching, for the better part of three quarters of an hour at this point, it meant gaining another six or seven inches as her tentacles stretched. Her height was, apparently, subject to change.

"Kumashiro Sakura."

"Well..."

Her wings ceasing the cheerful flapping, Akane shrugged. It wasn't as bad as 'It's Tasty', but it wasn't exactly the best thing, either. Still, Akane was hardly the person to be rude unless her mood was severely soured. This definitely wasn't the case in this situation.

"It's certainly better then 'It's tasty', that's for sure."

"Yeah, it's bad, I know I won't be joining the advertisement club anytime soon." joked Mizu, laughing a bit with one of her hands hiding her mouth as she did so, for her first day, it sure was being pleasant.

The kappa then started looking around to see if there was anything interesting going on, she then stopped to think for a bit and looked at Sasaki again, being rather curious about something

"Are you new to this school too? If you aren't, do you know the way around it?" asked Mizu, with a gentle smile.

Kasumi carefully watched as Sakura folded up her form, as if this were the most important moment of her life. In a way it was. For the first time since she'd begun to attend schools in Japan, she'd been invited and accepted into a group of classmates. Well, there was only one other girl on the student council so far. A girl with tentacles, who showed some cleavage thanks to too small a shirt combined with her bust line. A problem Kasumi wasn't unfamiliar with herself. The angel had been fortunate enough to get a Japanese style uniform with holes for her wings. Getting it on and off was a pain, but at least she wasn't ripping holes in the blouse.

"Inform me as to what this club does," she requested, smile fading a little before she asked, "Does this mean that we are friends? I'm not sure how that works."

"Oh, this is my first year too," replied Akane, as she moved to swiftly rearrange the blank sheets and get them stacked back up so they weren't going to slide all over the place. Once that was finished, she turned back to Mizuki, returning the kappa girl's smile. "But I got a look around the school beforehand, so I feel like I know it pretty well."

"Oh, well... I'd ask if you could guide me around, but you seem busy." said Mizu stopping to think for a few secondds.

She could just go on her own and look around the school, but she could get lost around and that was a no-no, maybe it would be better to hang around Sasaki for some time, after all, she seemed to be a very nice girl even though she was clearly a succubus and since she had to get some new members in, maybe having someone else to help would be of assistance to her, and while she was at it...

"Um... Maybe I could help you with your job here? And... While I'm at it... Do you want to be friends with me, Sasaki-san?" she asked, in a rather meek way as she wasn't very used to making friendships with others that weren't kappa like her.
