The Month of Leo, Day 1, Year 1000 A.A.

Solar Empire (This is Sol's group, so try to label where your character is when you post so we all won't get confused.)

Soleil was thriving despite the hardships of war, the prosperous capital city filled with travelers and gold to spare. The entire city was built in a forested valley between mountains, a river running through it to facilitate trade. All different kinds of creatures roamed the crowded streets, looking for work, or news on the latest military battle, or even just rumors. Buildings made of arches and towers and domed rooftops were the norm. Even the bars and taverns had a sort of architectural beauty to them. A rather large palace sat in the center, surrounded by high walls and stone statues, the Emperor's housing. Emperor Helios was an extravagant man, even if he didn't act like one as of late. When he first came to power, he constructed a beautiful coliseum and staged circuses and fights to entertain the masses, merely wanting to keep them happy. A series of taverns had strung up around it, taking advantage of the entertainment to reel in customers for decades.

The Molotov was one of them, a simple but popular place to drink and stay for the night. It was a simple building, but it was well constructed with a wood covered by sleek white stone carved with patterns and designs. The inside was a large area filled with solid wood tables for eating at. A bar was built into one of the walls, the shelf behind it stocked with a multitude of alcohol types and kegs of ale. The bartender was a burly man, his arms scarred and his face serious as he polished a glass, carefully monitoring his patrons for possible trouble. He tolerated no fights in his tavern, and would enforce his policy with his bare hands if he had to. posted near the doorway was a bulletin board, where people would put up wanted posters or jobs for people to take if interested. A particular poster had already grabbed the attention of a few passing travelers, saying something along the lines of going on a quest in exchange for large amounts of money. Free room and board in The Molotov was also offered to any takers.

Upstairs, there were a series of bedrooms for the ones who could afford to buy one. Four were already occupied, though they all got in for free. The bartender had told the travelers to go to the room at the very end of the hall to meet their employer today, and it was just about time to do so, though they did have the option of getting breakfast downstairs first.

Lunar Republic (This is Luna's group)

On the opposing continent, another capital existed. Gealach was situated partially within a large mountain, with large spacious tunnels acting as roads that led to buildings built into the cliffs to face outside. Everything was made of stone of some kind, making it blend into the mountainside rather nicely. The streets were also crowded with visitors and actual townspeople. The main buildings were the Council House, a massive church, and the President's Castle, all built to overlook the cliff to the forest below. The castle was almost medieval looking, with ramparts and towers sticking out. Deeper within the mountain were some traveler's inns, which doubled as bars. The were much rowdier than the Solar Capital ones, with bar fights breaking out periodically over trivial things. In a particular bar, Tiger Inn, a young woman sat in a secluded corner, wearing a cloak to cover her appearance as she people watched. She had put out a flyer all over the city in hopes of attracting people to help her, and was waiting for someone to show up at the designated spot, a large room she had booked upstairs. She had asked the owner to let anyone who took the job up there to wait for her.

He was tense. Not in a nervous way, but an anxious one. As Ganriel walked through the bottom floor of the bar, he held one hand in his pocket, and let the other hang free, effortlessly twirling a spike made of electricity through his fingers. If people found it to be threatening, that's on them.

Spotting the stairs, he started to quickly walk towards them, the closer he got to it, the more small spikes ironed in between his fingers. By the time he reached them, 3 had joined the original one. If this were a trap, he wouldn't be caught. At the foot of the first step he stopped and looked up them, "Better be a hefty reward...", and silently made the venture upwards..

Leonard watched the goings on inside the Tiger Inn from the outside, two strange looking men at his sides. He smirked in an odd way, thinking about what was going to happen today. Was it fate that was starting to lead all these strange identities together, or was it the whim of men who considered themselves masters of the fates of others.

Concealing his identity with a cloak, he decided he might as well step inside and get a drink. Walking slowly and deliberately, he took a seat and ordered a light drink. Nothing that could damage his faculties.

The two "men" simply stood outside, as if statues. He would never get tired of how useful that powder was.

Solar, the Molotov:

Minoi, saahayed into the tavern, in her human form of course, swaying to a beat only she could hear. Weeks ago she had come from her home islands seeking an audience with the Emperor and had of course been turned away, although far more gently than someone else might have because the guards thought her a harmless simpleton. And simple in many ways she was, though not stupid. Then she had seen the posters thhat suggested a mission that would stop the constant conflict that had ravaged her innocent nation. So she was here. And went up ind into the room.

Tiger Inn

Shortly after Minoi, a stout bear of a man walked into the tavern, dressed in little more than a cloak, cloth pants, and leather boots. He was wearing a slight scowl on his face Tiburon was expecting something a little more grand than this. Here he'd gone, from the warm and sunny waters of the Great Bite, treasures a plenty, to the frigid face of a mountain town. The fact that he'd wam up the river (also cold) to get to the city didn't help. He was expecting a meeting at a proper palace, even if it belonged to some no-name duke. The situation sounded dire enough, from what he'd read.

With an annoyed sway that made his shoulder-length braids swing and his voluminous gut tremble underneath a metal plated belt, he immediately made his way towards upstairs. He ignored the worried stairs and whispers circling around him as he walked, though he found a pleasant surprise in that his reputation went out this far.

Yes...it looked like interesting people a plenty were coming into the Tiger Inn. He had picked his place well, especially since he had found the location of "that person". Indeed, this was his chance, his golden opportunity. Once things started here, it would be impossible to stop the fates from sewing this string of fate.

Though...it would ultimately be him, the great Necromancer Leonard Valenth, who decided fate's course. Well, if all went smoothly, of course. There was always the chance of unseen variables.

The disguised necromancer simply hanged back and watched the proceedings.

As Ganriel reached the door at the end of the hallway, completely skipping his room, he let the spikes 'round his fingers form into one, and sink into his hand, making it vibrate quickly with electricity. He opened the door, with his charged hand flat by his side, and walked inside.

Apparently he wan't the first one here. Making it up the stairs, the pirate spotted another person heading into the room he'd read from the note. He was dressed in a odd looking blue get up, one that struck him as familiar. There'd been a few times where his crew worked with surface raiders for some of the bigger jobs. Heavily armed galleons, wearing down military vessels, amphibious raids on coastal settlements things like that.

He didn't look all that far off from the kind of person hired to hit back, or one of the rich surfacer's body-guards. For his experiences, they were never a simple obstacle, especially for the pirates who spent the night above the water. it shouldn't be all that much of a surprise that one of his type were here, all things considering, but it was an interesting development nonetheless.

He was in the doorway before before the door closed.

Augustin Chevalier — The Tiger Inn

A young man ducked into the bar, thankful for the shelter. Augustin Chevalier, gentleman adventurer and dashing doer of good*

had been wandering all over the Lunar Republic for the past few weeks looking for a new quest to undertake. Admittedly, the search for adventure had almost become an adventure in itself, but now it had come to a close. When he entered Gealach, one of the first things that had caught Augustin's keen eyes were the fliers proclaiming a rather interesting opportunity.

Not one to blanch at such an offer, Augustin had made a beeline for the Tiger Inn. And now here he was, at the cusp of yet another grand journey. He took a moment to savour the warmth of the inn and headed upstairs, almost springing up the steps. He almost flung open the large room's door in his excitement to meet his compatriots.

Looking over those present as he moved into the room and closed the door behind him, he said, "Ah, hello! Are you here about those flyers too?"

Augustin was pretty sure this was the right place, but if it wasn't he was ready to make a hasty exit. That was something that the kitsune had gotten extremely good at in his career for various reasons, although hopefully he wasn't going to be accosted by murderous cutthroats (the rather threatening sharklike seachild nonwithstanding).

As Ganriel took his seat on the floor and the door was pivoting to a close, the door reopened and in walked a monster of man, a scowl seemingly permanently etched onto his face. He looked up at him, making sure he wasn't some sort of a threat, then looked back down and closed his eyes. "Mountain." He whispered with a modicum of disgust.

The door closed after the man, and shortly after it closed, another person walked in: Tall, thin...purple eyes, very pale. "Pebble." Ganriel whispered again. He then got up and walked over to the nearest wall, turning as he walked to face the two others in the room. After a while, he talked, pulling down the cloth covering his mouth, and answered the man's question. "Yea, I saw the flier."

"Well...."Tiburon belted out, cutting the rooms relative quiet, "Ain't this something inglorious."

He went over to the table, pulled out an all to small chair. It croaked and creaked in what almost sounded like pain as he sat onto it, joining the table in chorus when the pirate hoisted his booted feet onto the table. He was never quite shake the 'off-balance' sensation when he stood or sat upright on land, even if he were doing well enough to fight soldiers toe-to-toe.

His scowl melted into a toothy, hard grin that was short of touching his ears on either side. "Though granted, it's much more my element than the taverns in the Solar Empire, save for the cold."

When the boots hit the table, Ganriel cringed slightly and said, "Yea, I can tell. Do any of you know what the fliers were for? I'm guessing a small bodyguard gig for some failed activist." He discharged his hand and made a couple of spikes in his hand, periodically tossing them into the floorboards.

"Hell if I know," Tiburon, "I usually don't operate so far inland, but there were two things that caught my interest." He waved two fingers in the air, as if nobody in the room had understood what he meant.

"One," he continued, "Is just how far those fliers got. If my boys all up and down the Bite are handin' me the same damned scrap of paper, I'll notice. Second thing that caught me was the price offered; it made most of tha' wanted posters I've seen look gangly." In an odd motion, he moved his hands up towards his face, lifting his eyelids upwards towards his eyebrows.

"Damn near had my peepers roll to the back of my skull the first time," He chuckled out, "Usually it takes some fresh blood in the water to do that."

Artyom entered the Inn with some difficulties, owing to his height. While the other patrons peered curiously at he, an obviously artificial golem with no apparent owner, his strides were purposeful and steady. This will yet be another step toward his ultimate goal.

Reaching his destination, he observed the people present- and surmised that they are merely another band of greedy mercenaries, and thus largely irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. He regarded them with an unnerving amount of neutrality.

Big Cat/Tiger Inn

Amiri drummed her fingers against the table she was seated at, not out of annoyance, but out of boredom. A tall mug of the bar's strongest liqour was in front of her, the room was permeated with the strong alcoholic smell, but the smell had been drowned out by the smell of tobacco, booze, and many other scents. She sighed briefly and took another long swig, downing it in moments, the warm liquid burned down her throat before settling in her belly. She set the glass aside as several people walked in, some in cloaks, some not. A few headed upstairs, one made himself comfortable at the bar. Her eyebrows shot up at the sight of a GOLEM walking in and heading up. Guess all valks o' life know a good job vhen they see it... she thought idly.

A server came up to her, looking at her with a mild look of apprehension, she HAD already downed two glasses of their strongest spirits and didn't even show the basic signs of intoxication. "A third?" The server asked nervously.

Amiri shook her head no, and the server went away quickly. She sighed a second time before turning to her companion, she had met the young woman whilst travelling and had decided to accompany her on her quest, mostly out of curiosity and because she could tell that it was important, whatever the girl was planning.

"I suppose I should go check on the ones already upstairs, ja?" She asked in a thick Germanic accent as she stood, her hooves making light clacking noises as she stood.

Augustin — Tiger Inn

"Oh, wonderful!" chirped Augustin, at least slightly reassured that he had not accidentally come to some sort of murderer convention. He took the nearest available seat (which was thankfully far away from Tiburon). At the pirate's last remark, the kitsune added tentatively, "Yes, it could do with being a little warmer, couldn't it?"

"Alas, it would not surprise me," said Augustin to Ganriel. "He is right, however - though it was far from the main reason for my interest, I did find the price attractive... and I'm not sure the proprietor would appreciate you damaging the floorboards. Though I'm not sure they would know the difference. "

Artyom's entrance did not go unnoticed by the adventurer, who regarded the artificial golem cautiously. "...Hello...?"

"Hm?" The cloaked woman turned to the Reithe. "Oh yes, I believe we have a few takers. They look very...intersting." Her own accent wasn't too think, only hinting at her Scottish ancestry. She took one last drink of the alcohol in front of her before getting up as well, mostly for courage. She wasn't really a drinker, but it would be odd to come to a bar without getting something. She headed up the stairs at her leisure, still thinking over her own plans as she fingered the smooth blue stone in her pocket. She was getting one step closer to the next objective, hopefully with help.

Tiburon tilted his head towards the doorway at the sound of Augustin's caution.

"Well," he said, brushing braids from his eyes, "If it weren't a golem in our company." He mockingly craned his neck to the creature's sides, pretending as if a controller would come into the room at any minute. He knew, more or less, how golems worked. But it was still a rare sight for him, for the practical reason that a golem might not want to venture the deep seas. Tiburon's mind raced with ideas as to why and how it got the letter.

"With the money in this trip," he continued "I guess you could get yourself gilded if ya' inclined to."

Over the years, he have learned that others usually loathe to acknowledge an artificial Golem as mere tools. While his goal is to dispel them of this notion, it is often advantageous to act as mere construct, whether when infiltrating a place, or amongst those of indefinite hostility.

"Salutations," the Golem replied to Augustin and, with deliberately mechanical motion, he turns- no, cranes- his headjoints toward the pirate, "And be robbed by scoundrels as you? I would decline."

The Golem does not seem to be in a conciliatory mood.

Golem...an Artificial Golem, here...?

It seemed this little party was becoming more and more interesting to Leonard. He wondered who else would step through that door to the Tiger Inn. For now, he watched them more overtly, deciding to see what was going on here, and if it truly was going to go "far".

It did indeed seem like a ragtag group of misfits had appeared before him, and he had read enough legends to know those usually caused endless trouble to those like him.

Usually.

A pirate let out a low chuckle at the golem's retort. "A scoundrel I might be," he said, "But in my defense, your kind aren't my usual targets."

For a moment, his hand disappeared under his his black jacket, returning to the table with a golden coin in hand. He pressed the piece in such a way that it flipped into the spaces inbetween his fingers, starting at his thumb and slowly motioning the coin towards his pinkie finger.

"There aren't all that many of your type on ships, I've noticed. The reasons are obvious enough. On top of that, I've never gone through the trouble chipping away at something that could turn a crew-mate's innards into paste with an errant strike. That's a tad more grizzly a business than I'm willing to handle as a regular policy, and that's on both ends." He clasped his hands over his chest, his voice sing-song, but his words earnest.

"It'd yield a better profit to do you in like nobility, if you might now. Ransom you off for more than you're weight in gold, I might." His right thumb and forefinger were pressed into his own temple in contemplation. "Or better yet, you'd make a decent addition to my operation. That is, if you were willing to do so. I'm not into the whole slavery bit."
