I thought we had a topic for this...Oh well. Looks pretty good so far.

So wait, is this a space combat RTS or another ground battle RTS? The video's don't elaborate very much about that, exactly...

No gameplay video whatsoever...

Says nothing about that will it be ground or space RTS...if ground, NOT Homeworld...

Looks pretty, but nothing else shows...so no real comment right now...

I'm pretty sure it's ground RTS this time.

Could still be. The whole point of the Homeworld series was to find one, as in the title. Maybe this game will be a 'what if' set an age or two after Hiigara stabilizes as a population center and starts sending out colonists.

They mentioned "238x" or some similar year, and that's a bit too close to what might be a timeline for Earth. And although the artstyle is definitely similar to Homeworld, the whole setup seems a bit too commercialized/capitalistic in comparison to the cultures of the Homeworld series.

The F 2 P part has me extremely nervous.

Of course it does. Maybe this way it could be a simulation of life on Kharak before it was destroyed? The clans fought with each other for resources, maybe this'll show how that went down.

It is now an official Homeworld game. Homeworld: Shipbreakers.

...so did Randy Pitchford go through the gaming equivalent of Yet Another Christmas Carol? I can see it now:

...now I'm picturing the Ghost of Gaming Future as a walking tablet who doesn't talk not due to it being a metaphor for the fear of death but because it requires an in app purchase and a Facebook login.

Shipbreakers is not dead.

And the title should be changed to Homeworld: Shipbreakers .

IT LIIIIIIIIVES.

And it's out in january people.

Quick summary:

- Prequel to HW 1 now - Single player campaign - No longer FTP - Actually uses the lore of the HW manual - main character appears to be an ancestor of Karen S'Jet - main antagonists look to be kiith Gaalsien - hardcore anti-space cultists, who arguably were the only group who remember - albeit weirdly skewed - the original treaty with the Taiidan

Looks pretty cool, very cinematic.

This is cool. I can buy this in January and can maybe play first it, then Homeworld 1, then Homeworld 2. The entire story of the Hiigaran people :)

...that. Is. Fucking. Beautiful.

The music, the narration... holy shit.

Blackbird is going to FUCKING DELIVER. Maybe if this game racks in enough money, we can get another Homeworld? Maybe a reimagined Cataclysm? I know they don't have the source code for that one, but they know what's in the game, could it be that hard to recreate?

What the hell was that Kill Sat sort of thing that hit the carrier thing? I didn't think of the Kharaki as having something like that. I know they had an Orbital Defense Grid but I thought that was something that only happened once they started building the Mothership.
