So.. I'm really just doing this to say how much I really, really, hate the hairstyle designs of this anime. I mean, serously, they're like... I don't even know what they're like.

Otherwise it's standard shounen with pretty bad production values.

Or something like that...

Forget the anime. Manga's better by miles.

Honestly, I kind of like the idea of anticimex in Tokuguwa-era Japan.

By the lack of interest in this thread, is it safe to assume it's not worth picking up?

well, a plot seems to be developing, but right now I'm just watching it because it's goofy and I wanna what kinda crazy monstrous bugs they get to fight next

[up][up] The anime, no. The manga simply does everything better.

[up]Your being a tad harsh. It does not seem to do anything better.

You look happy, I can change that if you want.

[up] Are you reading Joujuu Senjin!! Mushibugyou by any chance? Because you might be reading the original Mushibugyou manga, which does in fact mirror the anime more closely.

So I'll clear it up, read Joujuu Senjin!! Mushibugyou. It's by the same author, a retelling of the original, with slower pacing and a more fleshed out story, especially in the backstory department.

I am watching and like it very much, it's just so straightforward there isn't much to discuss. And main protagonist Jinbey put very refreshing spin on Idiot Hero trope.

[up] As Tenzen said, it's a straightforward shonen. What we can consider a good point is that it does that shonen formula really well.

It's entertainig show, with entertaing characters and entertaining fights.

And it has awesomly terrible Opening.

Episode 14 certainly went in a somewhat dark direction. The new opening is also awesome.
