I thought that was part of its charm. I also feel that while it wouldn't make for a huge improvement, I think some of the characterization issues is a result of the episodes airing out-of-order.

Airing out of order definitely made things weird. Watching in order makes a lot more sense.

Good riddance. Terrible world building and even worse characters (particularly female ones). It doesn't deserve a renewal simply on the basis of "It's sci-fi!!"
