List of Synthoid Models

This is something that has been bouncing around in my head for a long time. Taking inspiration from many sources, including previous R Ps on this very site, I'd like to try my hand at a real robot combat RP in an interstellar setting. I have a backstory and plot but I'm open to idea on how to improve anything.

My basic premise is this; many years ago humanity spread throughout the stars, colonizing new planets and creating new nations along the way. In one corner of space, a group of nations began manufacturing artificial humans, or Synthoids, as a workforce for things that required the human touch machines lacked but didn't have to be paid or anything. A servant race, basically, designed to serve the whims of their creators. They were identified by the fact that they were near identical to each other, each model only having about three different versions. Some looked like strong men designed to be laborers, others looked like older people to act as teachers, others were young women to be secretaries and so one and so on, all at the beck and call of their owners

Naturally, as these stories are wont to go, the Synthoids were discriminated against even as they worked tirelessly for humanity. They grew tired of their sub-human treatment and their lack of rights and began resisting. Eventually all out war broke out between the humans and the Synthoids. The two sides fought viciously against each other until a treaty was finally signed and the Synthoids broke off from the rest of humanity to form their own nation.

Several years on uneasy peace reign until the Synthoids start getting involved in another revolt by cloned artificial humans in a neighboring country, which prompts the fear in the remaining human nations that the Synthoids are planning to destabilize the whole region of space with their wars of liberation. The Synthoids in turn are convinced the humans still despise them and while surely try to wipe them out sooner or later. Both sides prepare for war and a single incident sets off the conflict anew.

That's where the players come in. As pilots of multi-role fast response units, you are responsible for leading the charge into combat, be it space or the ground, with your giant mechanical war machines. Both sides will be represented as players strive to influence the war in some small way and keep their home nation safe from those who would surely destroy them.

So, thoughts about the setting or story? Ideas you want to create within the setting or story? Interest?

Ooh... Definite interest, yes.waii Hmmm, kind of getting a Gundam Seed, Naturals vs Coordinators vibe from this, although I don't know if that was what you were aiming for. Still, very interested... When I feel less half-asleep I'll see if I can come up with any suggestions, ahah.[lol]

Weren't you watching Muvluv, Deady? Besides, real robot is easy to understand. I'll help you if you think you're having trouble.smile

...Let's just hope I can keep things more regular Gundam and not G Gundam.[lol]

Parable, is something wrong? I don't see Abraham Lincoln anywhere[lol].... well, yeah... I dunno, you already know I'm interested and I couldn't think of a good question this late.tongue

*resists urge to suggest making it a crossover despite only being familiar with entirely Earth-bound shows*

[up]You're not alone there. Basically everything involving mechs that I've seen involves fighting on Earth.

Edit: Doy. Was reminded by Strig's post. Everything *except* Supreme Commander.

Y'all need to get some Macross into your systems.[lol] And Nadesico, even if some of that still takes place on Earth but Nadesico is the best real robot series so yeah.

I still think Nadesico is a type of cookiesad

WAIIIIIIT. I actually did watch that, holy crap it's been so long.

*gets out the lassoo*

Oh no you don't, Deady! I said I'd help you, and I intend to follow through on that statement!

Oh right... Would there still be Synthoids who, for whatever reasons, are on the natural humans' side? Just wondering, I guess.

Hmmm, kind of getting a Gundam SEED, Naturals vs Coordinators vibe from this, although I don't know if that was what you were aiming for.

More like SEED Destiny, seeing as how this will take place during a second war.

...I need a better grounding in all things Real Robot, don't I? >.<

Gundam SEED, MS 8th Team, FLAG, and Zegapain are the only Real Robot series I've watched. All very different from each other, so you ain't alone.

I don't see Abraham Lincoln anywhere

Yet.

Oh right... Would there still be Synthoids who, for whatever reasons, are on the natural humans' side? Just wondering, I guess.

Maybe some who had really good reasons for staying with their owners. The current generation would be the last though, as the treaty between the humans and Synthoids prohibits the humans from growing any more.

And as I mentioned in the first post, some nations that weren't involved in the first war do still keep Synthoids, which causes friction between them and the free ones who want to liberate those they view as their brothers.

...Really need to get around to watching 8th MS Team at some point.[lol] I'm much more into super robots, but I do like a good real robot show. Especially if it's Martian Successor Nadesico or Macross7, although hopefully the latter won't inspire me too much for this. It would probably kill some people's suspension of disbelief if my mecha used the power of rock.[lol]

Anyways, sounds good. Not sure if I can think of any suggestions or anything, but we'll see. And I guess this gives me a nice real robot RP to go alongside Anno's super robot RP, so I'll be all good for giant robots.waii

The Frames

This post reserved for the tentatively named Armored Mobile Frames, of just frames for short. Each side fields several different frames for different roles. Everyone is welcome to toss in their own ideas if they have any. Don't go out of your way to make the most super special robot ever, these are supposed to be mass produced war machines.

Human Frames

Magellan

The single most mass produced frame on both sides. The Magellan is the standard go-to-robot for all combat needs in space or on the ground. In it's class it is weakest unit in single combat, but their numbers, versatility, and cheapness see them through the day.

  • Height: 15 meters
  • Weapons: 1x Laser rifle
  • Secondary Weapons: 1x Beam sword

Buckshot

Humanity's foray into utilizing the Synthoids' hit-and-run tactics against larger frames, the Buckshot specializes in hand-delivering maximum carnage. The left arm carries its signature shotgun.

  • Height: 14 meters
  • Weapons: 1x Shotgun, 1x arm-mounted laser beam
  • Secondary Weapons: 2 shoulder-mounted machine guns

Castor

Amphibious engineering frames able to withstand deep underwater pressure, and able to tear apart fortifications and enemy armor with large chainsaws. Affectionately known to their crews as "Angry Beavers"

  • Height: 20 meters
  • Primary Weapons: 2x Arm-mounted chainsaws, 1x shoulder mounted laser beam.
  • Secondary Weapons: 1x light plasma gun.

Cobalt

One of the largest of the human faction's frames and the designated frame killer. Heavily armored and heavily armed, the Cobalt dominates frame warfare in space and on land.

  • Size: 22 meters
  • Weapons: 1x Plasma cannon, 2x shoulder mounted laser beams
  • Secondary Weapons: 1x Rocket launcher, 1x Melee Beam Weapon.

Gladiator

Medium assault frame with multiple limbs. The four arms make in deadly in melee combat or for providing suppresive fire in a support role.

  • Height: 16 meters
  • Weapons: 1x shoulder-mounted plasma cannon, 2x arm-mounted laser gun, 2x laser rifle,
  • Secondary Weapons: 4x beam swords.

Synthoid Frames

Piercer

A small infantry support frame, best suited for ground combat. The mainstay of the Synthoid terrestrial forces.

  • Height: 13 meters
  • Weapons: 1x Laser rifle, 1x Beam sword,
  • Secondary Weapons: Head mounted machine gun

Invoke

The Synthoid's glass cannon. It's light armor was a design choice that factored in the idea that the Invoke would not be in the effective range of enemy weapons. This is due to it's long range sniping role.

  • Size: 15 meters
  • Weapons: 1x Railgun rifle, 1x Long range laser beam rifle.
  • Secondary Weapons: 1x drone

Hive

A large robot designed for taking out smaller frames and machines. Bulky and slow on it's own, the Hive's true power lies in its six attack drones that the pilot directs against an enemy unit or units.

  • Height: 17 meters
  • Weapons: 6x laser equipped attack drones.
  • Secondary Weapons: 2x arm mounted lasers, 2x rocket pods

Firefly

The transformable fast attacker frame. Unique among frames in that it can transform into an aerospace fighter, enabling it to fly when fighting on-planet. The fastest of all the Synthoid frames.

  • Size: 14 meters
  • Weapons: 1x arm mounted laser beam. 2x Missile launchers
  • Secondary Weapons: Head mounted machine gun

[up]For the sake of the acronym, I think there needs to be a "Bipedal" or "Battle" before the other three words.

Like what else I see, though.

I dunno, BAMF sounds a bit silly for a serious real robot thing.

...Think my main problem here will be to try and not make something accidentally overpowered. Knowing me I'll probably end up inadvertantly giving my character the Turn A Gundam or something, which would be a terrible, terrible thing to do.[lol]

[up]Welcome aboard!

One of the ideas I has was that since the Synthoids are massed produced, or were at any rate, they all tend to look alike. There are maybe like 25 different templates running around, each originally created for certain tasks but naturally they've expanded their job pool after creating an independent nation. If anyone wants to offer idea for what each one looks like, what was their original purpose, ect, I'd be happy to hear those too.

Now, how many of these 25 Synthoid models are required to be schoolgirls?[lol]

As for mechs, I feel a hankering for making an underwater one, or perhaps one with a giant vibro-chainsaw intended to clear away forests when assaulting guerrilla camps. But not now, since it's late.

[up]Just the ones that aren't guys who just look like schoolgirls. >.> <.<

...Thinking about it, I should probably stick to mook units, since otherwise I'd be tempted to try and work out super prototypes and that would never end well for me.[lol]
