I have two mishearings from the VeggieTales song "Love My Lips".
When I was young, I misheard the phrase "to Duluth" as (what else?!) "toodle-oo". I found out what was actually sung from a VeggieTales book that made a trivia question out of that verse of the song.
For a much, much, longer time, I didn't know that Larry actually revealed the Polish word for "lip" to be "usta". Instead, I thought he was saying, "Uff da!" in relief when he was finally over with the Motor Mouth part of the song. I thought this because I had listened to the first two tracks of Ken Grambo's comedy album The Funniest Thing at a relative's house, with the second track being "The Uff Da Song". Because of this, I thought that Archibald's clear pronunciation of the Polish word was a mispronunciation. Even when I watched a sing-along video, I still thought "usta" was meant to be "uff da". I think it was earlier this year when I came across a quote from the song on this site and saw the colon indicating that "usta" is the Polish word for "lip". Just this evening, I used Google Translate to finally find out the truth!
Are we human, or are we dancer?
This is one that took me years to correct - from "A Little Piece of Heaven" by Avenged Sevenfold:
We'll live forever, live forever
Let's have a wedding, have a wedding
We'll live forever, live forever
It's half a wedding, half a wake
In my defense, these particular lyrics are pretty quiet compared to the rest of the song.
I've been here too long. Regretting choosing this screenname ten years ago.
