Bravely Default Series

I could see them adjusting fire and doing something different for the 3rd game, though. The Bravely series is a safe sandbox to experiment in, and I think Second is a bit too safe with the formula, which might explain the sales somewhat.

Expect a third try if Octopath is a success.

Hopefully if Third comes to fruition (and I hope it does), they will release "Bravely Default Trilogy" for the Switch.

I found out that Bravely Default has a manga last night.

I also discovered you shouldn't read it at night, because Airy turns to address the reader with a very unsettling, near full-page Nightmare Face out of nowhere.

Someone in a Bravely Default LP brought up a good point. If Olivia put a barrier around the Water Crystal to prevent it from being lost to darkness, why were the seas rotted?

Perhaps Rusalka was born within the crystal, and so the attack came from an angle Olivia hadn't considered/been able to prevent.

Or the Chasm is just that strong a source of darkness.

Contrived plot point for why she can't just go fix the crystal straight away.

Agnes could have broken the shield and fixed the crystal right then and there. But she wanted to adhere to tradition, and let her friend do it.

Actually, a lot of grievances I have with the plot can be traced back to Agnes or Victoria. Interesting, that.

Might be she miscalculated and her shield wound up doing nothing in the end but hindering Agnes and co.

Given that most of the Crystal Orthodoxy seems to understand extremely little about what the Crystals actually do, who's to say they understand enough about them to actually succeed in protecting them from darkness?

Also a good point.

There's so much deception and backstabbing in the world lore that it gets confusing after a while, to the point that off the top of my head? I can't remember who betrayed who.

That's because most of them are the 8 new protagonists from Octopath Traveler which no one not involved in the development knows their names yet.

Akihiko Yoshida paints little seasonal pictures like that all the time featuring the Bravely cast. I think Yoshida just really likes painting those characters, since Tiz and Til also show up in a Octopath image.
