Dragging? I feel like the whole thing is going towards the reveal too quickly.
He's the Doctor. He could be anywhere in time and space. This second season has me very anxious for each new episode. I'm glad they've kept it weird and dark, despite the fact it almost got cancelled during the first season. Great show.
bring the freshI was spoiled for the end reveal of that episode, but the episode still managed to shock me.
He ate. His own leg. He ate HIS OWN LEG, he—
He's the Doctor. He could be anywhere in time and space.
Okay something I couldn't tell because I was watching the video on NBC's website.
BOTH legs, or just ONE? The trope page seems contradictory on that.
We only saw Hannibal making one, I think.
ophelia, you're breaking my heartAnd if you looked under the table, only one leg was missing.
Methinks that scene was a nod to Clarice eating brains in Hannibal (the novel)
Also I was half expecting Will to go into the "he covets" speech from Silence.
I know there was a shot that showed his legs under the table, but again, was watching it online. Couldn't make out much of the details.
That does clarify things though, thanks.
Despite the Friday night death slot and the dropping ratings, NBC must like SOMETHING about Hannibal, or the whole Horror film/book adaptation thing because they've got an adaptation of Rosemary's Baby airing soon. It would be a great timeslot companion for Hannibal actually.
I totally called from ep6 that in this episode Hannibal would frame Chilton.
He's the Doctor. He could be anywhere in time and space. So someone made a good point on the show's YMMV page.
"Hannibal's elaborate frameup of Dr. Chilton succeeds because nobody wonders for even a second how a man who relies on a cane could pull off either the Ripper's murders or posthumous displays, how Chilton could have killed Abigail and Georgia while convalescing from being disemboweled, and how he could have eaten parts of Abel Gideon when he can't digest animal proteins."
...I swear, the FBI just gets stupider and stupider. First there's their refusal to properly investigate Hannibal, then there was the Beverly thing, now this.
I'm all for tension, but if they have to make everyone this incompetent in order to drag out the "hannibal's a cannibal" thing then I'd rather they just have the Jack and Hannibal fight already. They can spend the rest of the season trying to find the guy after he's on the run. That'd be fine. It'd make the FBI look less stupid.
I don't think Jack bought it for very long. He switched at some point to believing Will on Hannibal even though currently there isn't actually any evidence.

He's the Doctor. He could be anywhere in time and space.Looks like they're including Mason Verger's unique taste in cocktails. That's something that can either be really effectively creepy or giggle-inducing over the top silly.
What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly.So...is Will going to be okay? I'm genuinely starting to worry about him now, especially with the promo for the next episode..."This is my design" *shudder*
I sincerely hope he's just playing Hannibal to get him caught...also I like Margot in this universe. I hope she doesn't end up 'roided out, like in the book. she'll probably have to for continuity's sake though. Or maybe she'll have a hysterectemy instead.
I'm loving all of the parellels by the way. Especially how Fuller relates how Will wanted to protect the animal guy from his social worker to how Lector 'protects' Margot by butchering her brother.

Yeesh, characters that are supposed to be alive per canon getting killed left and right. Or at least, set up to look like they're killed. I'm not so sure if Freddie Lounds is dead or not... and Bryan Fuller's made some tweets that shows it could go either way with Chilton.

I loved this last episode. It was just amazing through and through. Loved Michael Pitt as Mason Verger. "Margot, say hello to Pavlov!"
There's no way Freddie was killed at the end of the episode. My guess is that Hannibal noticed something off about the meat because it really came from Animal Man. Freddie is just in hiding as far as I'm concerned.

The plot armor is strong with this one.
I'm wondering if Freddie is actually dead. In the promo there was clearly a flash of a burning corpse in a wheelchair, which is exactly what happened to Freddy Lounds in Red Dragon. Although, having Will suddenly a murderer and cannibal is seriously confusing.
So much goddamn fanwank with this episode - poor Bryan Fuller having to fend off hate due to Margot sleeping with Will. There were legitimate reasons for that.
There are legitimate reasons, but I'm not going to defend it until we see some actual lesbian stuff. because in our current state and culture, I think it's kinda needed. In a perfect world it'd be fine, but this ain't a perfect world.
Read my stories!Yeah stating a character is a lesbian (as opposed to showing it) and then immediately having her sleep with a man is... Questionable. But Fuller did point out on his twitter that if she tried in vitro fertilization, Mason would find out and we don't want that. So she's doing it the old fashioned way, probably because no one expects her to. I suspect that this storyline is going to subvert or play with this trope somehow. He's already changed aspects of Margot's character that he thought were unfortunate (the implication that her sexuality was a result of Mason's abuse) or stereotypical (How butch she was). I think he's smart enough to handle this well.
Which makes me less anxious about how they'll adapt Silence of the Lambs because Buffalo Bill's transsexuality in the movie and book was fair for its day, but doesn't quite work now that we understand transsexuality a lot more. I suspect he's already considered that and ways to update it.
Oh the in vitro reason makes sense, I was wondering why she didn't just check out a sperm bank
Read my stories!I'm adding my confusion to the mix. I'm also thinking Will is hiding Freddy and tricked Hannibal with Animal Guy, or something, though the Flaming Wheelchair doesn't bode well for Freddy. Of course that means offing ANOTHER female character on the show, pretty much just leaving Alana and Margo.
Also, are we sure that the baby is Will's? or could it Mason's, like in the book?
YESSSSS.
Nice. I like the direction the show is going, but I never really imagined Lecter indulging his tastes this often. It seems that just about every other episode now he's chowing down on somebody, as though he's daring the police to catch him.
Also an episode or 2 ago, with Eddie Izzard and Bees. I couldn't get the image out of my head, "Aaaaaaaah! I'm covered in Bees!"
