Sneak peak of the next episode.

I like that Daisy figures things out pretty quickly, rather than what I see a lot of other TV characters do.

Oh right, the new episode is this Tuesday.

Fuck, I gotta get back to watching the Netflix shows. I suck at binging stuff.

I was wondering...are you still hesitating to watch more of Daredevil?

[up][up] They also released a series of short vids for each character...nothing new, though, except in the one for Daisy and the one for Fitzsimmons (because Fitzsimmons is apparently one character).

Hesitating and distracted by outside factors. The sooner I finish, though, the sooner I get to Luke Cage.

I stumbled today over a great name for the current version of Ward: Frame Ward!

I'll totally stick with this one!!!!

Looks like we'll be seeing Madam Hydra in the Framework. I've heard of the character before, I'm interested to see how this turns out.

[up] Mostly intrigued by the whole concept of who is supposed to be Madam Hydra.

Concerning Ward, I just realized that we never had a proper punny Nickname for OG Ward, and Hydra!Ward is a little bit weak....we really need to rectify that. My suggestion is Spy!Ward and....no idea....Gap Ward?

Heh. Bonus points if he ends up being the reverse Ward, Ward's non-evil twin.

Frame Ward

So what you're implying is that Grant Ward did nothing wrong. :p I knew he was framed.

Speaking of which did we ever find out if that was BS or not? I mean, we're sure to side with "Ward was absolutely freaking nuts and blames everyone else for his problems" but I remember the way that episode panned out, we weren't exactly being made to sympathize with Christian either. Ward forces him to confess under threat (making Christian's confession unreliable) and then he kills him (preventing anyone from learning the truth, not that any of the main characters care at that point).

I believe the episode made it out to be ambiguous. Christian admits to pushing their brother down the well, but then he was under threat of death at the time, too, so it's a toss up on who actually did it. Which I'm fine with — there's really no need for us to know which one, since both were pretty vile.

Bonus points if he ends up being the reverse Ward, Ward's non-evil twin.
Reverse Ward would actually be named Draw.

I don't remember him specifically saying that. I do remember him saying that Grant was bad, too, though.

I'm pretty sure that what we're meant to derive from the Christian subplot is that Ward does come from a pretty shitty place, he had a bad childhood, and under no circumstances does that justify any of his crimes even for a second.

Thomas, the brother actually in the well, puts it pretty succinctly when he rejects any and all excuses for Ward's behavior. He gets the final word on Ward's history with his family, and he makes it absolutely clear that he considers Ward a reprehensible monster whose actions far outweigh any possible excuse for them.

Ward is essentially a deconstruction of the Freudian Excuse. The point of his backstory isn't to make you sympathize with him, like him, or want him redeemed. Instead, it serves to highlight the fact that just because someone is a victim doesn't mean they can't also be a monster.

I don't think that it makes a difference for the brother why Ward pushed him into the well, just that he did. It is possible that Christian forced him too. It is also entirely possible that Christian simply targeted Ward because he was frustrated about their parents and he in turn snapped eventually and went after the beloved little brother, only to reason later on that he did it because Christian forced him to. It doesn't really make a difference, because at the end of the day Ward did it and never really accepted his part in nearly killing his little brother.

Though what bothers me about the story is that that is still the elusive sister.

Who knows, the sister could be Madam Hydra.

That wouldn't really answer anything regarding the sister, given that Madame Hydra exists inside the Framework. Nothing that happens inside the simulation is necessarily reflective of the world outside it.

One can pity Ward, I think, for where his origins led him to.

In the same way one pities a rabid dog.

Yeah, pretty much. Part of me always wanted to go back and rescue the little boy or at the very least step in between him and Garret. Consider this, if Garret hadn't been Hydra, Ward would have developed a fierce loyalty to a shield agent and might have actually become the hero he always wanted to be. Provided that someone taught him to owe his mistakes and flaws along the way.

Yeah. That's very true.

That's one of the tragedies of Ward. He could have been a contender if only he'd had the right influence.

Or so we think. There's the possibility that his own issues would have never let that happen.

I still love that moment where he metaphorically shoots the entire #StandWithWard movement in the gut.

I like the rabid dog comparison. That's a good way of putting it. No matter how much you might like him or feel bad about his past, it doesn't change the fact that he is now an active threat to the safety and wellbeing of others that is long past the point that saving him is an option, and he needs to be put down.

That scene is exactly why I have confidence that they're going to do something fantastic with this SkyeWard revival and not just be like, "Oh, look at what a happy couple they'd have been if Skye just gave him a chance!"
