They're announcing a rerun, right? And those usually precede a second season?
Not as far as I know? Just an announcement that the second season starts in July
Former Hataraku Maou fan here. Emi being unpleasant and flawed actually makes me like her better. Chiho has flaws too, but from what I understand, the narrative acts like she doesn't and shills her to high heaven. Plus, I find Chiho to be terribly boring.
Season 2 trailer for anyone still interested.
‘My ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.’S2E2: If Ashiya was haggard before, well, you can imagine what adding a baby to his worries would do.
Chiho seriously brought Alas Ramus to Mg Ronald's. She should have known she would kick up a fuss! Good for us though, coz it's funny especially when fat James mistakes Alas Ramus for the manager's baby. Not so good for Chiho and Maou, who get a (justified) sermon.
Emi is making the tsundere noises and it's making me smile. Props to her VA, she's great.
Urushihara is lower than Alas Ramus in Ashiya's eyes. But I'd agree. Dude, at least put away your dishes.
And of course, it's not a proper Not a Date if there weren't a couple of bozos tailing Maou and Emi to make sure they don't get too comfortable with each other.

I mean, it technically isn't a date if neither participant wants to be there
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Well Emi says she doesn’t want to but she’s tsundere, so
Emi has plenty of times where is 100% tsun no dere involved.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Emi actually does mean that she doesn't want to be with him. There's no Tsundere there, she actually fucking hates him.....ok at this point, she mostly tolerates him but there's still no love lost between them at the moment.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Fair point. I’d argue there’s a teensy bit of love between them now, though!

From the novel, not really at this point. She has a certain level of respect but genuinely does not like him.
As of now he's still the guy responsible for her father's death so...
Lol
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.S2E3: Sadao’s got game. First he takes Emi on an amusement park date, next he’s having her stay over for the night.
Guess this is the part where Emi and Suzuno learn how big of a sham the Church and their angels really are.
Okay so I'm trying to watch season two but it's already kind of offputting with the animation differences and wacky Ashiya faces. Is it worth sticking with? Nothing funny has happened yet. It's reminding me a lot of the tone of the LNs, which I didn't like and stopped buying.

Well if you didn't like it now, I wouldn't expect it to change much later.
I'm enjoying it, but then that's the nostalgia boner talking.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.S2E4: Animation quality took a nosedive, which is a shame considering all the juicy info this episode divulged. From what I can gather, Maou was in a really bad spot when he received that Yesod fragment from an angel. That angel is apparently Emi’s mother. There’s a legend about the Great Overlord Satan which I think Maou tried to emulate, and the angels don’t like it. When someone sketchy like Gabriel talks about world peace, you have to ask, at what cost?.
Maou and Alsiel are still dancing around why Maou tried to conquer the world but I hope they have a proper discussion about it with Emi about it sometime in the future.
Urushihara is useful for once!
Alas Ramus asking if Emi will stay with Maou feels out of place, especially since they’re in the middle of a fight. But she can turn into a sword, so that’s cool.
S2E5: Chiho always finds a way to muscle into Maou’s life.
I was kinda hoping we’d get a fat-free mini arc of Maou showing off his management skills and turning the beach hut into a roaring success, but I guess supernatural shenanigans are part of the Yesod Fragment package.
S2E6: As expected, the manager lady is the one beating up the demons.
S2E7: And the mini-arc ends, just like that. I have no strong feelings about it.
Satan hugging Emi and declaring he's conquered her was amusing though. And Emi didn't lop his head off for the insolence. She's certainly warming up to him.
S2E8: Maou gleans something from farming, about how society works.
Also they catch some thieves. Heck yeah. They kind of went overboard. i hope the police don’t ask too many questions about how the roof of that car got sliced open.
But hey, it’s worth it. They got a salary and free food. Alsiel’s in budgetary bliss.
Hmm does Emi not know who her mother is?

S2E10: Angels are basically NEETs in heaven. You heard it here first.
And now season 2 is done. Not much really happens, the “big fight”, uh, wasn’t. More interesting is that what this means for Emi. Her mom and pops are both on Earth. Also we get a good sequel hook in Lailah giving Maou a quest to restore Ente Isla to its original state, whatever that means. Hopefully the anime continues the story. And hopefully it doesn’t take a decade before that happens.
Good news for you then, because a new project is coming out in 2023.
