You said something, Corr? I didn't hear you behind violating my enemies with hentai gun... for balance.

But if serious Cephalon Suda seems pretty okay. Sequince, despite being merchants, also don't sound too bad not to mention New Loka. In fact none of them sounds that much evil or even grey.

Except Red Veil.

I'm not quite decided on which faction I'll back. I'll wait to have more details.

Don't get me wrong, I'm open to all choices, but I want to see which one does the more for me.

... Maybe that "what can you do for me" mentality should make me side with the merchants. Mhhh.

[up][up][up]The merchants are probably cool. Suda may be okay. Ditto for the Arbiters. Depends on what they mean by "limited potential". Gonna bet they're the religious fanatics of the bunch, though.

But I'm surprised you don't see anything wrong with the "pureblood" mentality the Loka ascribe to. If "pure" humans are the solution, what happens to the Grineer? Corpus? Tenno, even? We know the Corpus aren't evil by default, and with the advent of Steel Meridian we know the Grineer aren't either. Are the Loka just gonna wait for them all to die out, or do they plan to speed the process along?

[up]I'm actually rather incapable of playing a bad guy — like, literally, I feel bad when I do — so I'm probably going to support the guys protecting the colonies. Unless they turn out to be terrible. Maybe the Arbiters, if they turn out to be more "Zen" than "ISIS".

i'm prett unsure of what to think of the proxy wars, i just hope their rewards cna be somehow gotten even if you're not directly siding with them, like if clan or allaicne members are doing so instead.

btw, anyone esle got a feeling darvo might be with the perrin sequence? i mean he IS both a well known merchant, and a corpus deserter.

also, catalyst alert on jupiter, 20 minutes left.

[up] Actually, I think Steve said we'll be able to trade mods. Sigils however will probably not be tradeable.

[up][up] They don't really sound particularly evil to me, save for Red Veil maybe. It's all in the nuances I guess.

I dunno. It's just weird that people look at the terrorist-esque Red Veil and see "evil" but then turn at look at the racial supremacist Loka and decide they're A-okay. I mean, is it just me?

QuestionMarc Since: Oct, 2011 Relationship Status: Having tea with Cthulhu

[up] When you spin them as nazi-like racial supremacist, sure, they start sounding evil. But when they are spin as a "restorers" of a lost era, they sounds more like the good guys.

As I said, it's all in the nuances. I don't know for everyone else making their minds, but the current snippet of lore we have are not exceedingly informative.

You can restore a lost era without insisting that racial purity is the way to do so. It's the emphasis on purebloods here that's the problem, not their desire to restore a lost era. Just like the problem with the Red Veil is their not caring who or how many they have to kill, not their desire to overthrow an oppressive regime.

It's a subjective moral dilemna.

My perception on Loka is that they remind me of the Air Acolytes in Legend of Korra, who work to restore the Air Nomads nation. Sure, they are focused on one pure "race", but the return of said race is generally looked favorably upon as they can work torward balance.

Is Loka the exact same thing? I don't believe so, especially in the black-and-grey morally of Warframe. With that said, I am not writing them off as space-neo-nazis just yet. More lore on them might change my stance on the issue.

I know not why someone would condone or condemn a Syndicate, but ideally they would have a personal reason to do so.

Fair enough. I just would've pegged the Loka and the Red Veil as the most problematic of the bunch, and was really surprised to see people prefer the one over the other.

I wonder if clans have to choose a side or if it's just on the player's side. That would be "fun".

#7812: Oct 18th 2014 at 5:09:02 AM

[up] There was no mention in the Devstream, so I assume there will be no "clan wide" bonus. However, since syndicates mods can be traded, it goes without saying that if a clan has a variety of different alignment, they might just be able to spread the relevant mods.

[up][up] Well it's not all that weird when you consider most players think of themselves as "humans" and from "Earth". As such, they probably have a kneejerk reaction to backing up their team/home. At least, so do I think.

Sure. But they're playing as something that's probably not human, which tends to skew things a bit.

I dunno. The Loka entry just suggested Nazi-esque (or Death Eater-esque, if we want to avoid Godwin) focus on blood purity to me. I guess that may not be the case. But given the limited amount of information on them and the fact that purity is what is emphasized in their entry, I'd say that racial purity is the one thing about them that DE wanted to stress.

In other news, I listened to the Devstreams part I missed since there wasn't a Reddit summary (Wuuuuuut).

  • Void Trader is going to be a thing. (not sure if in U15)
  • Void Sabotage missions are coming. (I think it will be in 15)
  • A bunch of new specialty mods are coming in for weapons (IE range extenders for beam weapons). (Will be in U15, not sure if they will be drops or else)
  • Archwing will have a separate mod pools. We're getting two melees and two primaries as well as two different Archwings on day one.
  • New frame seems poised to be in a quest as well as being named "Limbo".

I'm really quite curious to see all the new mutator mods from the Syndicates, as well as the weapon mods that were teased.

Void Trader sounds like my new BFF.

In other-er news, I decided to shuffle the dojo a bit. Just an ittsy bitty bit.

Spawn point is going back to the "old" area of the dojo. The teleporters made the elevators obsolete, and as we speak there are already 3 teleporters being built. 3 others are waiting on Oxium (105 each), namely in the Garden Hall (with trees and stuff), in the duel room and in the utility hall (where you can access the Obstacle Course). My Oxium is limited and the three rooms I just named are borderline useless, so I won't sink in my Oxium for these. If you have extra Oxium and want to share, visit the Dojo at your convenience.

There shouldn't be any other changes. On the bright side, there is now a Teleporter smack-dab in the middle of the Lab Wing. So celebrate! Now!

[up] Surprise?

In other news, the teaser site update yesterday. Spoiler alert: It's fucking nothing.

The fact there are archwings in the new update is not a big reveal.

But these teasers never show any big reveals, so I don't know what I expected...

In even more other news, the teleporter network in the dojo is slowly coming online. Expect many people to be confused as shit because they don't read the MOTD and didn't know I was changing the spawn point.

In the most otherest news out there, I have made this set of Syndicates symbols to be used in photoshop or what not. Maybe someone can appreciate them here.

[up] Thanks. Tho I find them plain, personally, but that's the point. They're easy to manipulate in GIMP or photoshop.

New Teaser segment from today:

I rather like the music.

For some reason the Teaser site shows the distant Galleon as being bigger than the very close Fomorian that we just cruise by.

[up] That's pretty nice.

Too bad no one is fluent in Corpus.

... Well, I guess it's possible that there's one guy who thought it was the next "Klingon" or "Elfic". In that case, it's kinda sad, whoever created languages at DE surely has nothing on Tolkien.

EDIT: Welp. Did a Survival IV where I really should have judged the other guys by their conclave rating. We barely made it to 15 minutes and I had to stay alive for all three of us, while also trying to tell Vor to fuck off.

Well, I've renewed my good internet, so I can pug for a while. Trying to progress in star chart. Much lag, such rush, so hallway hero.

As for syndicates, it's pretty clear shadow clan will have to prioritaze those who give formas.

QuestionMarc Since: Oct, 2011 Relationship Status: Having tea with Cthulhu

Speaking of PUG, I tried a little social experiment:

  • First step: I hosted a very-wanted Tier IV keys on the Recruiting Channel.
  • Second step: Ask that they solve a simple but misguiding mathematical equation.
  • Third step: Only invite those that get it.
  • Finally: Run the mission.

The hypothesis: Filtering out the mouthbreathers that cannot math should yield higher-quality PUG.

The results: Mixed. I did a run that lasted 46 minutes with PUG selected this way, and on one occasion where I laxed the criterias and it yielded lower quality PUG. This would indicate that, at least for Survival IV, PUG quality seems proportional to their math level. However, on a third Survival IV, the PUG collected by this manner only performed marginally better, and we had to high-tail out just below 25 minutes and killing Vorrupted was near impossible. Additionally, a test run in a tier IV Capture has shown that even filtered PUG can be subpar. Indeed, in this capture I had to fend off Vorrupted nearly completed by myself.*

Conclusion: There is only a weak correlation between math capacities and talent in game, and that is at best. More testing are required, however they won't be held because fuck yeah I have my final Nyx Prime part and it's building right the fuck now.

*: No one is a match for Oberon, bow down low to the Rage-Tank Oberon build.
