Homeschool is illegal in Germany. This is, no joke, a policy from the Third Reich they never got around to revoking. One German homeschooling family, the Romeikes, gained political asylum in the US back in 2010, but now the case has been appealed to a circuit court, and Eric Holder is coming out against their political asylum on the grounds that not all members of the Romeikes' sect homeschool, and not all homeschoolers are religious, and ergo a ban on homeschooling can't be a violation of freedom, because he apparently doesn't get the concept of individual decisions not hogtied to cultural identity.

Not only is our Attorney General eager to send an innocent family back into political persecution, he has also, at the same stroke, said that he sees nothing wrong with an outright ban on homeschooling. Let's hope he doesn't act on this sentiment.

I'm not opening this. Not only is the topic phrased in such a way as to assume its conclusions (homeschooling good, therefore suppressing it = bad), but it compares suppressing homeschooling to political persecution and is generally antagonistic.

So, no thanks.
