Sad to see, but I'm sure James Tucker will do a fine job. Interestingly, WB Animation's publicist says he'll be back with "more of the stuff you love" and "something new and cool."

This won't end well. At all.

End of an era. Also, man I feel old now.

I was just thinking about all the DC cartoons and their influence on my childhood.

He'll be missed, but not forgotten.

[up][up]Bruce Timm was one of the major creative driving forces behind a lot of the 90's DC animated series. Batman the Animated Series, Superman, Justice League. Now, DC Animation no longer has him or Paul Dini. Dwayne Mc Duffie also left us early (R.I.P.).

Glen Murakami will still be around for Beware the Batman though.

[up]I was replying as to "why this won't end well at all?". I missed one arrow.

Yeah, I get why Timm will be missed. But isn't he just taking a break? He's still involved with WB Animation, he just gave up his current position.

Think of it as when Tim Burton stopped being the director to the Batman films and became the producer for Batman Forever. Which was... Batman Forever.

Also, that rumored new JL DCAU cartoon will 'come around the same time as the JL live action movie', and the JL live action movie won't ever be made. EVER.

But James Tucker is actually really good, though. I actually like his desire to introduce more unknown characters and original stories rather than stick to the tired Superman-Batman-JL formula and comic adaptations.

And like I said, this only looks like Timm is taking a break, not quitting DC Animation forever.

Eh, desire to focus on more unknown characters equals Warner sacking him as soon as his first non-Bats-Supes endeavors don't fare as well as they expected (and no one can have winners all the time. No one).

The way internal fights and Executive Meddling are in Warner-DC right now, it's almost impossible to deliver good products that aren't screwed by someone along the chain of command.

I say we avoid the "Something changed, now everything will suck forever!" and just wait and see what...

Aw, who am I kidding? The interwebs are going to piss and moan about this, and likely spit on whatever a non-Timm led WB animation produces. Just try not to collapse into a jiggling pile of negativity, ok everybody?

[up]That's pretty much all I've been seeing. There are people that actually think Timm single-handedly created the DCAU, with no help from anyone, nevermind Paul Dini, Alan Burnett, Glen Murakami, Dwayne Mc Duffie, and others being just as involved with those shows, or even more than Timm.

The timing after the cancellation of YJ and GL certainly doesn't help.

I'm not saying others can't do good jobs at all, but Warner Animation, Cartoon Network and DC are at such odds lately, and everyone keeps sabotaging each other, and it's very difficult someone without the fame and industry weight of Timm will be able to keep the boat afloat. I'd feel hopeful if Warner kept its act together and let creators in peace, but as it is now...
