[up][up]

Apparently I'm preparing a salvo, I thought I'd add this instead. I could see Monty doing this.

Edit: Hell of a page topper.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.

No, dRoy. It's the sort of lists where the the stringent requirements are "I like their work for this one character once at least".

So I thought about the ways to make Grimm feel threatening for a while.

So far, I got:

  • Make them really big, like motherfucking dragons.
  • Make them intelligent
    • Introduce a humanoid Grimm
  • Show them actually hurting people.
    • Introduce a character who can't kill Grimms by dozens.

And so on.

I also figured...if they can't make Grimms so big or intelligent...

Make them enormously numerous.

Things I Want to See #6

I want to see a swarm of Grimm that is so large that when heroes shoot them, more show up and keep advancing, stepping over corpses or Grimm and such.

Basically, I want the Zerg, or better yet, the Tyranids.

Speaking of deadly Grimms, I have always, ALWAYS, wanted a Wendigo Grimm. You eat their flesh, you will slowly become them.

I know that their carcasses fades away, but what if a lone hunter/huntress was... desperate enough to carve them open to eat them, even though they fade?

Also ties with the humanoid Grimm; gave that thing a deer skull with scary looking antlers and we have the Wendigo Grimm.

Making them more like The Vord would be interesting. Like, introduce a Grimm Queen, or something.

An humanoid Grimm...

With terrifying antler...

That's it!

We should totally have a humanoid Grimm that is based on Honda Tadakatu!

For those of you who don't know, Tadakatsu is one of the deadliest warriors in the history of Japan, or possibly the entire Asia, of all time.

Basically, he went on over 50 suicide missions, all the while wearing incredibly conspicuous antler helmet.

And he never got injured. Ever.

So yeah, he was a real life HAX character. XP

It should be based on the Alien Queen from Aliens.

Well, however that works, I know it would be one badass Grimm, being the mother of all Grimms and all.

We need Grimm to be actually threatening. The idea we've gotten is that humanity (and Faunanity) lives in closed-away reducts to protect themselves from the Grimm, as supported by the expedition into whatsitsname town that had been a failed attempt to reclaim lost land. But when damn near every character (seriously, the only one I can think of that doesn't is the Dust shopkeeper and maybe some of Junior's mooks) can kill Grimm by the dozen, willing suspension of disbelief suffers.

You know, I think the reason we don't think Grimm are dangerous is because at this point, the only two we've seen give the teams significant trouble is the giant ones.

And even then, Coco could solo Grimm that were the mid boss for both main teams the previous season.

So, until we see Goliaths and bigger actually take to the field in force, we aren't likely to find out why Grimm are so dangerous.

That being said, I full expect Godzilla-tier Grimm eventually. Probably somewhere out in the middle of the continent where there are no defenses.

I've always thought of Grimm like earthquakes. A major, lethal threat but with enough money and planning you can mitigate it to something more manageable. Mountain Glenn was the equivalent of requiring local buildings to withstand 4.0 earthquakes, only to find out too late that the local fault line is capable of producing 7.0s.

The Red trailer had Ruby mowing down a horde of Beowolfs like they were skittles. Grimm were introduced as mooks. I've been expecting intelligent Grimm because I've been expecting us to be introduced to the "propoganda" and then for the "truth" to be revealed later on down the road.

When Oobleck explained the Goliaths, it looks like Ruby didn't know anything about the idea of intelligent Grimm and Oobleck made it sound like even experienced hunters may not appreciate the nuances he was familiar with. I think the students (and maybe even some of the experienced hunters) are eventually going to be in for a shock revelation about the Grimm.

Say, do those subterranean Grimms ever got names? You know, the ones that looked like leeches? What can they do?

Personally, I imagine them to be similar to Xenomorphs combat-wise.

Yes, those guys!

I was surprised that they appeared so suddenly, kinda expected an introduction like the Goliaths.

Do we know what happened? The linked post was pretty vague. It could be illness, accident, or anything really.

Every once in a while, I wondered if his workaholic tendencies were ever gonna catch up to him. Not sure if it's related to that, but I sent some money their way and wish the best for him and all involved.
