They couldn't do that, because they're trying to pretend that the rebels have the same challenges as everyone else and the point is that all of the Central drones will pass. They wouldn't want to directly rank them against each other in skill or guarantee eliminations.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought of Saber/Ruler Erina.

Saber design is more iconic, but they couldn't call her King Arthur or people who didn't read FSN would be very confused why King Arthur is a girl.

Erina really grown into her role as the rebellion leader and Tootsuki liberator. At the start of the year she was the best 1st year student, but now she's their leader.

I'm starting to wonder about Ikumi... I mean everyone adores Erina, but she pretty much has a crush on her.
So, Central brought out the big guns. So now only Rebels will have to face Elite 10. They must really be desperate since they stopped even pretending everyone faces the same challenges.
Good news is, we'll probably see Erina cooking for the first time. Gonna be exciting. She has to carry this team through.

I never tire of Soma's "bitch please" faces, they're golden.
Anyway, I guess we're gonna be stuck with these four for a bit. The top four characters coincidentally, and it definitely got me hyped more than the previous two exams.
Preeeety sure at least Soma and maybe Takumi can handle themselves fine.

About the Elite Ten, you could read it like that. However, it could also be seen as testing them to see if they're worth succeeding the vacant or soon to be vacant Elite Ten positions. Or at least that might be how it normally works.
Actually winning the matches may not be required either.

That's a good point I doubt they're intentionally trying to flunk them out like those examiners, they just need to see if they're actually good enough

Also, by top four characters you don't mean Souma, Takumi, Megumi and Erina do you? I'm not even sure Souma is top four with Hayama, Ryou and Alice.
It's rather uncanny; Soma resembles Shirou and his Dad is voiced by Kiritsugu and now this. It's like the author is a massive Fate fan.
I never thought I'd actually feel pity for Central...it's honestly sad how ineffectual they are at their jobs.
