Kawai confirmed for manipulative bitch?
Give the God Eater game thread some love!Past Kawai, surely. Present Kawai is trying to get the new guy but that is not evil per se. Let's watch a little more.
What I want is confirm Ueno as a shadow archetype.
Realidade
Well, yeah even Ishida found it obvious how Kawai wasn't hanging around because of him. I'm more wary about Mashiba though...
Oh, and lest we forget, Kawai seems to be more pro-Ueno at this point. Hmm. See her previous interactions with Ishida. This group outring will just get... messy.

Next chapter is titled "Illusion," I doubt things go down how you all might be thinking, but rest assured, STUFF HAPPENS.
A love that crushes like a mace.
New Chapter!
Developments aside, I found it interesting how we're not shown the "X" fall off Ueno's face. Just a few pages later, it's no longer there.
Still I wouldn't be too comfortable yet Shouya — stuff like this can quickly go FUBAR quickly. I mean, nothing is set in stone when teenage emotions are in play.
I will be impressed if fists don't fly around in the next chapter. Shouya may think that he has no right to protest against his bullies because of what he had done but he has a lot of seething rage against them (a few chapters back he looked like he had a look in his face when Ueno was making fun of Nishimiya before the nice girl calmed him down
RealidadeWhat amazes me is that, come that Ishida self-stabbing imagination scene in chapter 23, a lot of fans are going "Whoa, man, don't be so hard on youself." Some of them from those who previously stated that they hated him with a passion and would probably never forgive him in response to earlier chapters.
Awesome what well-done Character Development can do.

Yeah, that avatar's a 'Shop of my real face.this is all a set up for something really bad, isn't it?otherwise, things would be going too easy... The author gave a recent interview saying she has the manga more or less planned and it may last 4 to 10 volumes.
Yeah, one of the biggest concerns for a reader is whether we're in for a parabola of abuse. Build him up, then tear him down. Hopefully not.
yeah, but it's easier to stretch conflict and story if they make them suffer(it's being published in a shounen magazine, and they LOVE to pressure the author to stretch things up when the manga is getting popular.).I can already see:Ueno has set everything up so that all the major players that made Shouya's life into hell are gathered in a public place to make him relive all that and probably will target Nagatsuka and Yuzuru to spice his suffering even more...
EDIT: REAL chapter out, and it's every bit as juicy.
Let's just say that the combination of a Bully Grown Up and a very VERY jealous teenage girl can be quite nasty.
Ueno makes a deal with Shouya: he makes up with the guy that bullied him, and she'll becomes friends with Shouko. Obviously Shouya is stunned, especially when he realizes that he and Ueno seem to be doing the same thing: forcing other people to become friends with people they normally wouldn't associate with. This leaves him feeling pretty down, if not downright suicidal again.
Oh, and another freaking cliffhanger, this time implying that Shouko just got slapped. facepalm

Chapter is up. People are pissed.
Realidade
Yep, Ueno is mostly unapologetic about it. See her story about Sahara? "Then I realized that (Sahara) was still naive simpleton..." She said she reflected on it, I'm not so sure. Seems so skin-deep to me, though admittedly this is tainted by the fact that we've been following Shouya so far, and he has a negative opinion on everyone.
Chapter 27 transcripts are out, and, hmm, they're kind of meaty, so spoilers ho!
- Ishida tries to ask Ueno about what happened in the ferris wheel, but Ueno gets angry and leaves. This ends the get-together on a very sour note.
- Yuzuru pays Shouya a visit a while later. Apparently she was able to record what happened.
- Ueno kind of lays it onto Nishimiya, on how her presence in elementary was an unwelcome disruption, especially since neither party seemed to want to understand each other. In the end, Ueno says that everyone got hurt, even her, especially what happened to Ishida. However she will not apologize for what she did. The past is the past, and cannot be undone.
- However, she will admit that, right now, she hates Nishimiya. She expects that Nishimiya hates her too, but in the end, this won't stop them from having a somewhat neutral relationship right? Except Nishimiya says that, rather than hate Ueno, she hates herself instead. It is this that sets off Ueno off, and makes her slap Shouko.
Yeah. Pretty emotionally charged.
Just read it.
Yeah, Ueno. How dare her trying her best with all her limitations to integrate in class and calling adults to their responsibilities so she can defend herself.
RealidadeUeno is a nasty, unrepentant person, for sure. The transcript basically is her pushing ALL the blame on Shouko
I feel like there's something else there though. If I were in Ueno's position and Shouko told me she hated herself, I would have told her "That's right, you should. Go kill yourself then, you huge waste of space." Or something like that. But that's not what Ueno did. Instead, it's plain as day that Ueno does not like the fact that Shouko hates and blames herself for everything. So I don't think Ueno truly hates Shouko as much as she claims, she just dislikes this trait of Shouko's and wants her to change it.
Of course, that doesn't change the fact that Ueno's a nasty and abrasive person.
p.s. I have nothing against Shouko. I meant that, if I were Ueno and hated Shouko as much as Ueno claims to, that's what I should have done.

Give the God Eater game thread some love!
A less charitable opinion on Ueno is that Shouko hating herself just makes her seem more and more like a victim — something that Ueno doesn't agree with, because for her, Nishimiya is the cause of all the problems. Ueno looks at the situation from the stance that the bullying that Nishimiya got when younger, she only brought on herself. She doesn't want to own up to being actually culpable in the bullying.
Add to this Shouko's passive nature, and obviously it would strike a nerve with Ueno, whose opinions of Nishimiya are already partially skewed by jealousy.
Yeeeeeah, I don't think that 'X' mark is going to come off Ueno's face for a while.

"I didn't understand you so I bullied you. Me bullying you caused problems for me later on so I kept on bullying you. I hate you for causing me problems because I bullied you."
If that was anyone other than Shouko she was talking to, the slapping would have been the other way around.

Wait...What?I'm sure many of us will be happy to assist you.
Give the God Eater game thread some love!Spaghetti spilling levels will be off the charts for the next chapter, look forward to it.

Goddammit Ishida, you were doing excellent up until that point. Still, he said it like such a dork that I laughed hard.
Gosh, those two pages. That was ridiculously dorky, and they just had to add sparkles too.
I'm not sure where things will go now though. While Nishimiya might want to start over with Ueno, I don't think Ueno is really in the right place to reciprocate anything positive.

A wild Ueno appears
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF~
Kind of surprised how the "X" fell off Kawai's face. Will it last though?
