Hi all

I want to work on the page for The Crow. It's a Franchise page currently, with lots and lots of sub-folders dealing with the comic, the film franchise, the TV show, etc, etc. I want to transfer the content of the sub-folders dealing with individual texts into new sub-pages, ie Comicbook, Film, Literature, etc. There is a /Film sub-page that someone must have created a while back, but when you click the button, it just redirects back to the /Franchise page - which is in itself a redirect from the /Main page!

Similarly, if I try manually typing /Comicbook/ or /Literature/ etc into the URL for the page, it redirects itself back to /Franchise.

It's going to take a while as there's a lot on the page, but ultimately I'd like the Franchise page for The Crow to contain basic info about the original comic and the franchise sa a whole, General Tropes that appear in the franchise across the board, and then list links to sub-pages that outline tropes used in the subsequent film franchise, the other comic books, the spin-off novels, etc.

I've been trying to read the TV Tropes instruction pages on how to do stuff, but I'm not understanding the language and there seems to be a lot of assumed knowledge. Is someone able to direct me to a page that explains how to do this please?

Type the redirect's URL, but before you press Enter, add ?action=edit to the end.

Thanks for the quick reply! But I feel like a moron now, but I don't know where you mean to type this in. The drag-down menu for Subpages lists both Comicbook and Film as options (and there is an actual Film button in the cluster above the page title), but when you click them, it just redirects straight back to the Franchise page and the URL reads:

https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Franchise/TheCrow?from=Comicbook.TheCrow and https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Franchise/TheCrow?from=Film.TheCrow

So where do I go and what do I do to "cancel" those redirects? I looked for it in the Edit Page box, but there doesn't seem to be any kind of text to amend that refers to redirections.

You need to type it in the address bar after the rest of the URL.

Like this: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Comicbook/TheCrow?action=edit

Just so we're clear: you should only "cancel" the redirects if you're going to make an actual page. This sounds like what you're doing, so that should be fine. I just want to be clear that any redirects that aren't being turned into an actual page should stay redirects.

(Even if you already understood that part, I want to be clear for any third parties who may be reading this thread.)

Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.
