I made two edits to my post which got bottompage'd. Oh, well...
My second edit on that post sort of talks about that. It's a specific example, but my school's student uniforms allow women to wear either skirts or pants, while men can only wear pants.
The problem is that edit is an assumption, I could not wear pants even when it was snowing if I had wanted too.
Its just as often not a choice for either party.
"(my school was founded during the Empire,"
Your school is awesome.
"Please crush me with your heels Esdeath-sama!Getting sterilized at will is not quite what I'd think as a right.
No but control over your own fucking body is.
I should be able to do whatever I want to it.
It gets denied an awful lot, though, whatever it is.
It has always been the prerogative of children and half-wits to point out that the emperor has no clothesI am curious, what's the age at which women are not dissuaded from the practice? I'd guess for a mother it's far less troublesome to get a sterilization than for a girl with no children.
I'm talking about on-paper rights. The reticence of doctors to tubal ligation or related surgeries is off in the real fight, against soft oppression.
Oh fuck no.
Getting sterilized is a right. You have the right to do what you want with your body and preventing children is a fundamental right for men and women.
Men can get snipped all day. Women have to fight tooth and nail and even then it is denied them.
So no.
Being sterilized is a health issue and a person should have the right over their own health.
Period. Stop Sign. The End.
"Psssh. Even if you could catch a miracle on a picture any person would probably delete it to make space for more porn." - AszurI see? A health concern it is, I geddit, I think.
The skirts/trousers thing is always an interesting one, most summers in the UK we tend to hear about a school that banned shorts while allowing skirts and then had a boy just go in a skirt and dare them to try anything.
Out of curiosity, is the issue women face for control over their own bodies (when it comes to surgery and stuff to prevent having children) normally a written law one or a sexist doctor one? Either way it's obviously horrible, but I'm curious as to how the problem manifests.
@Imca: I should've been clearer. That assumption is relating to my country, not to other people in this thread (because I don't know how the situation is where they live). I remember at least one example of commotion because a guy went to work wearing a skirt, because his female co-workers were allowed to choose while the men were forced to wear pants.
But what I'm talking about is something specific to my country. The general problem is the same in all accounts (the different issues people have with temperature caused by sex), but I wanted to give my perspective on the subject. I'm sure a brazilian woman could talk how AC affects her working/whatever conditions, if it indeed would be a problem for her as it is wherever the original author of that article is from, but I'm not a brazilian woman so I just commented on what I knew more about (clothing regulations). Of course different places have different regulations, but that also means different places have different problems.
I mean, I've had a female friend talk about her problems with temperature of the AC at school due to biological factors, but I'm not sure I'm confortable talking about other people I know, specially in their behalf. If I knew more about the subject, and I was confident about it, maybe.
It depends on your location, but yes. There are laws in place that prevent women access to sterilization. Much like how abortion laws vary between locations. In fact, there are some places like India and what not that consider sterilization an abortive. (Varies by province, such as how in some areas poor women were steralized against their will while more wealthy women were denied access.)
"Psssh. Even if you could catch a miracle on a picture any person would probably delete it to make space for more porn." - AszurHm, I was still taking about the AC issue. I know nothing about the subject you're talking about, so I'm not talking about it.
That's nice.
"Psssh. Even if you could catch a miracle on a picture any person would probably delete it to make space for more porn." - AszurThat's fine, Gab was replying to by question on the other subject under discussion.
Oh and some random political news I'm not sure if ever got shared here. The UK Labour Party (the more left wing of the big two parties) is having elections for leader and deputy leader. We have 3 women and 2 men standing for deputy and 2 men and 2 women standing for leader. The women for leader are one of the more centrist expected candidates and the token more right wing candidate. For deputy leader it may well be a contest purely between the women, I know that of the two male candidates one got no votes at our local "who should the local party back" meeting and the other got the least votes.

On a scale from one to ten, how awful a person am I for finding this funny.
I mean, come on. Damage a trois!? That is funny!
It has always been the prerogative of children and half-wits to point out that the emperor has no clothesYou're always a ten Aszur, just because it's you.
I'd say "Melee a trois" would be more appropriate, but sure, that works
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotr00d.
I do not speak french, but I think "damage a trois" is a pun on several levels. Consider that it seems to say it is a "Damage" as in from the root of "Dames", another word for "CLASSY LADIEZ", also a pun on the word "damage" (since they are beating each other with pillows), and also a reference to the Menage a trois. It seems like a triple pun to me.
Perhaps some french speaker could confirm or deny this but to me the "damage a trois" seems like a hilarious triple pun.
About chicks beating the snot out of each other.
It has always been the prerogative of children and half-wits to point out that the emperor has no clothesSo theres still these videos about Planned Parenthood going around, and now theres some sort of movement to defund it?
Do you guys think this will go anywhere?
Not unless the GOP gets a filibuster proof majority or the White House.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects. It's practically succeeded. Republicans are using it as one of their big platforms and they've got most of their voter base behind him.
I'm sorry but Planned Parenthood is as good as dead.
Oh really when?
Not always, if you have a uniform you cant...
Worse is when the people responsible for the uniform seem to have no comprehension of temperature...
Again no, in most places we still have to fight for control of our own body, men don't.
Just... kinda ask around how hard it is for a woman to get sterilized for instance.
