It is shoplifting if you define a woman as an "object".
It has always been the prerogative of children and half-wits to point out that the emperor has no clothesLook at Britain, and then wonder how far up it might go on both sides of the Atlantic...
Keep Rolling OnI'm inclined to say it's both. It's theft because the prostitute isn't getting money for their services and it's rape because the client broke the pre-established guidelines they agreed to before having sex.
404 on your link, Gabrael
I'm not sure it would necessarily be "theft" because there wasn't any physical object stolen. What is the legal term for failure to pay for a service rendered? Like, if you hired a contractor to build something for you and then didn't pay him for it, what would that be? I want to say "breach of contract" but I'm not certain that's correct.
It's still rape, though, regardless of whatever else it is. There's not an either/or there. It's rape AND something else.

Reuters: Collins admits molestation allegations

Dunno if he'll declare himself guilty and go to prison, though.
Just remember, in Texas if the ptostitue takes your money and doesn't fuck you, it's legal to kill her.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickWait what? is that true or just some joke

"Psssh. Even if you could catch a miracle on a picture any person would probably delete it to make space for more porn." - AszurIt happened, guy was acquitted which shows why "A jury of your peers" is a bullshit concept.
As long as the crime happened to some one some members of the Jurry see as an undesirable the criminal is gonna get away just fine, people are not going to fight to make sure the criminal faces justice, there just gonna want to go home and get on with there life and get out of jury duty.... So as long as one person agrees it was okay to kill that person... yea...
See Trevon Martin for another example.
Ouch. Right in my faith for humanity.
It has always been the prerogative of children and half-wits to point out that the emperor has no clothesSee above, re: prostitutes have no legal protection, even against violations of the most basic human rights, up to and including the right to life.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Isn't the logical extension of this that hiring someone to do something and not paying them is thus also slavery? If we're going to treat prostitution the same as any other trade than wouldn't failure to pay for sexual services rendered be the same as failure to pay for physical services rendered?
That's my point of confusion. If a person hires someone to do some manual labour for them and then don't pay them for it is that slavery via deception? The consent of them doing the manual labour was based upon the agreement of payment, the same way the consent of having sex with a prostitute is based upon the agreement of payment.
Also I think it's possible to consider it theft without considering the prostitute an object. It's their labour/payment for their labour that is an object, the same way a car cleaner's labour/payment for labour is an object (I chose car cleaner at random as a profession, it works with any service based labour) without them being one.
Now if the rules we want are that failure to pay for services rendered qualifies as a breach of consent than that's fine. I just think that whatever rules we settle on should be the same for professions where labour is sexual and where labour in non-sexual.
"And the Bunny nails it!" ~ Gabrael "If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we." ~ CyranIs slavery a crime on the books though?
I know it is baned in most countries, but I dont know if it is a crime you can charge some one with.
Human trafficking is. Sorta similar
Oh really when?Countries have an obligation under customary international law to prohibit slavery, so if a country doesn't have laws against it, they should.
Schild und Schwert der ParteiSlavery is illegal in the United States.
"Psssh. Even if you could catch a miracle on a picture any person would probably delete it to make space for more porn." - AszurI know it is illegal.
The point is I dont know if you can be tried with owning slaves as a crime itself.
Or just violation of human rights.
Bluh, I am bad at explaining this...

Yes, if you keep a slave or make someone a slave, you are breaking state and federal law.
Trafficking means that you're moving something illegally, like human trafficking means you are illegally moving humans. Slavery can involve human trafficking, but not always, so therefore, there are separate laws.
If I make my son a slave, I can be charged with child abuse, slavery, etc. If I move my son across the country to sell him into slavery I am guilty of all of that plus human trafficking and other related charges.
"Psssh. Even if you could catch a miracle on a picture any person would probably delete it to make space for more porn." - AszurI know slavery was only specifically outlawed in the UK in 2009(ish). It took that long because slavery was never recognised as a state of being in UK law (within the UK itself) as it had been declared impossible for a person to legally be a slave in the UK back during the colonial era (I think the judge said something about British air being so sweet that anyone who breathes it is automatically a free man). Before 2009 I figure people were just charged with kidnap, imprisoning someone against their will and whatever other crimes they committed against the person they enslaved.

7th Heaven actor Stephen Collins admits he's a child molester.
Now, we need charges to be brought. Let's see if that happens...
If it doesn't? I just don't even want to think about that. Our justice system is really broken.
