Don’t know La Monte Young really. Cage’s Sonatas and Interludes for Prepared Piano is definitely a “safe”-ish purchase (there’s a Naxos edition that’s cheap...or used to be). I am fond of HPSCHD but do note, that’s definitely one of his “difficult” pieces.
If you can find Voices & Instruments with Jan Steele (made for Brian Eno’s Obscure label, and out of print for many years), do pick it up, it’s stunning!

Young's Well Tuned Piano is one of the greatest things ever so definitely listen to that
Not too familiar with Cage but In A Landscape is worth a listen
