Who do you think is worse, Midnight Sparkle or Daybreaker?
Daybreaker doesn't exist.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.I know, but if these two met, who would be worse?
At worse Daybreaker is just Celestia on a massive power high. Not even sure she would exactly be evil if she existed. She more just seems to care about herself than anyone else.
"When I offered to make Norea my third back-up girlfriend she just glared at me and started throwing things at me.." Renee CostaTo be fair, both characters are on a massive power trip. I guess it comes down the question of, if they had super powers, would the iron dictator or the chaotic entity who would dissect anything on a whim be worse? Personally, I'd say they're about the same.

It's true that things would suck under Daybreaker's rule, but she'd want to have something to rule over. But Midnight Sparkle, who is more motivated by the magic of discovery and the discovery of magic, had already shown a reckless disregard for anyone's safety ripping open portals to and from everywhere. If she had free rein, I imagine we'd be left with a tempestuous, inhospitable storm of destruction in the wake of her magical experimentation.
This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...Simply existing is hardly better than death if Daybreaker ends up breaking her subjects, though.
FE: Genealogy Story Run 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiThis comes down to personal philosophies, but if things are really that unbearable under Daybreaker, then at least the choice of being dead or alive is my choice to make. Not sure if I can say the same for Midnight Sparkle's scenario. There are no backsies on being dead (at least that we know of) if I accidentally get portaled into, say, an active volcano or the underside of an ocean.
This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...Not necessarily. Someone with an iron enough grip could easily either A) completely destroy the minds of her subjects or B) exert heavy enough control that they might as well be puppets (see: 1984).
FE: Genealogy Story Run 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiA fair point, and I can see why someone else would choose immediate risk of death over those conditions. It's just not what I would decide, I don't think. Like I said, I'm just really terrified of the fact that there's no going back once you're dead.
(Of course, one can never really say for sure how they'll act unless they have direct experience with similar situations.)

This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...By the way, quick question: Since Sci-Twilight has remorse for her actions in Friendship Games and that she was conscious the whole time it happens but couldn't stop it, could it count as an 'And I Must Scream' trope?
I was going to say no, but its hard to tell, really. Every time a good character in this show is transformed into evil by magic, they look shocked and scared (see Luna and Sunset, for instance). This seems to suggest that while they instigate their moments of evil, the actual transformation is involuntary.
Its not very noticeable, but there's something very WEIRD about how evil works in this universe. Often, evil seems to be a living, conscious entity of its own, and evil people seem to be literally posessed by evil, rather than being evil. Very rarely do we see a villain that is evil by nature. Discord is more a chaotic, friendless jerk than out and out evil (all he needed was a friend to stop being a jerk after all). That pretty much leaves Tirek and Chrysalis, both of which are slated to return on the show. Given the above, I wouldn't be at all surprised if their evil nature turns out to be caused by this strange living evil that seems to be a part of Equestrian magic.
Optimism is a duty.So it's practically a mystery
I wouldn't necessarily say that it's a living evil, but the biggest trend I've noticed with these super-powered evil transformations is that they're usually caused by an overabundance of magic.
- Sunset Shimmer trying to control the Element of Magic by herself, without the Magic of Friendship.
- Twilight Sparkle absorbing six people's worth of magic into herself.
- Gloriosa Daisy channelling the magic of all seven geodes, each of which would go on to be used only by a single person apiece.
- Juniper Montage's mirror stripping the magic from seven people and funneling it all into her.
Each of these characters becomes drunk on power after consuming a lot more magic than could possibly be reasonable for a single person to try and contain. This has a dramatic psychological effects, which seems to make them into The Unfettered. Whatever their biggest concern or worry is at the time, they become single-mindedly obsessed with it.
While we don't know a lot about the circumstances that led to them, it's possible that Nightmare Moon and the Pony of Shadows may also fall into this trend: too much magic making them incapable of comprehending anything outside their one overwhelming vendetta.
I've been calling it Magical Derangement.
The one exception seems to be Sunset Shimmer in Friendship Games, who's able to channel six people's worth of magic and not go violently crazy. But not only does she already know what to expect, having already been through this once, but she's also laser-focused on an agenda of saving Twilight rather than something detrimental, so it's ultimately unclear whether Daydream Shimmer qualifies.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.I think Magical Derangement is a pretty good description of what happens to them.
Optimism is a duty.Ok, so wouldn't this make Sci-Twilight guilty of her actions in the Friendship Games? Also what I found weird was Gloriosa Daisy saying "What happend" at the end of Legend of Everfree, I once made a theory where from the time she absorbed the geodes to being on the ground unconsious, she was in a coma
Oh look, no one’s responding to you bringing this shit up again.
Ffffffucking STOP
Pretty sure all points regarding Sci-Twilight and her guilt was talked about already in great length. We should leave that alone at this juncture.

"When I offered to make Norea my third back-up girlfriend she just glared at me and started throwing things at me.." Renee CostaAlso. Don't triple post. It's really tacky.

There is nothing to be gained from further conversation. The last time everyone talked about it, nobody got anywhere. It is an exercise in futility.

I think Midnight already WAS supposed to be the mad scientist version. As in, lets open more portals and see what happens, damn the consequences.
