So, from the looks of things, Friendship Games will be airing right in between episodes 23 and 24, assuming there won't be anymore hiatuses, and assuming they won't air a new episode along side it. Weird since they usually save the EQG stuff for when the season is finished.

That means the season 5 finale will land on the 10th of October... oh. /slowpoke

Minor update, Shout Factory posted the trailer, with the added bonus of actually showing the boxart. Nothing ground breaking, but hey Sunset's finally on the cover of one of these things!

I really like their outfits. The shipper in me can't help but like how prominent Sunset and Twilight are.

The fact that Sunset is so prominent on the cover makes me think Hasbro is saying "We're sorry for shafting you last time."

Also, I'm sad we didn't get to see Sunset's warriors get up in animated form.

I take it that the reason why Sunset is featured prominently on the cover is that now Sunset has really taken the mantle as the main protagonist of the EG series.

The Equestria Girls official website has updated with new character descriptions, including ones for the Shadowbolts. One thing that I noticed is that Sugarcoat's description compares her to Applejack, and Indigo Zap is compared to Rainbow Dash. This may mean that they are intended to have direct counterparts among the Humane 6. Sour Sweet, Lemon Zest, and Sunny Flare aren't directly compared to anyone else, but here would be my guesses for who their counterparts are:

• Sour Sweet vs. Rarity (her description mentions her scolding people for inappropriate behavior, so she might be more prim and proper like Rarity)
• Lemon Zest vs. Fluttershy (she's described as being like a "drill sergeant" in a way that would be the opposite of Fluttershy's gentle kindness)
• Sunny Flare vs. Pinkie (possibly a silly vs. serious contrast because she's mentioned as being a stickler for the rules, plus, Pinkie is also strict about her own quirky rules in some ways, like with Pinkie Promises)

However, these don't necessarily match them up to the Humane 6 in the sense of who would be competing at the same sports.

Of a similar note, the German side of Amazon has listed the Midnight Sparkle doll. I say this less out of interest for the doll, but more out of interest in the packaging. The bottom half appears to be CHS, while the top half is Ponyville.

It's something that came up in the Time to Shine book and a bit in the first movie. Makes some roundabout sense that without magic she'd try studying the thematic equivalent.

Yeah, it makes perfect sense for a student of Celestia.

The prequel comic actually showed her studying a bit. The movies haven't really done a good job at showing her bookworm side despite her backstory basically means she should be a Badass Bookworm like Twilight Sparkle. The lab coat is probably to highlight that similarity, seeing as how Sci-Twi was introduced.

I'm glad they still have the instruments. Seems we're gonna transition into sports instead of just "Lawl Rock & Roll is so last movie. We Katniss on motorcycles now!"
