Justice Avengers: Jump City at Dusk

Kitty spun around, surprised, to see Static Shock. "Oh!" She went a little starry-eyed for a moment (Static Shock! Talking to her! Awesome!) before shaking it off. "Do you need something?"

Static smiled, putting a hand on Kitty's shoulder. "Hey, you did good out here today." He said encouragingly. "I know it doesn't feel like it, but you did what you could. You just need practice." He smirked, crackling electricity between his thumb and forefinger. "I was picking static clung socks out of my hair for a week when I got my powers."

"Thanks," Kitty said, beaming. Although that guy got away... But Static was here to tell her she had done good. No use pitying herself.

She eyed the sparks between his fingers, giggling. "It's hard to imagine! You're so good with it, now. At least you never lost them?" She laughed and blushed a bit, looking to the side. "Just earlier today, my root beer float went right through my hand. It was a mess. And the day before that, I woke up underneath my bed!"

Static laughed, giving a shrug. "Like I said. Practice. Control only comes through effort. If I'd just waited for my powers to calm down on their own, I'd be "Loose Laundry Man."" He gave a smirk. "Doesn't sound as cool."

While the heroes of the city had started dealing with the fallout, Wonder Girl had been distracted from her desperate attempts to keep up with four ongoing conversations by the jingle of her phone. She hurried off to the sidelines, wincing as she saw the caller ID read "home".

For the next few minutes, the young heroine was hunched over slightly, trying to shield the phone from the background noise of the post-battle wrap-up. From the sound of it, the person on the other end of the call was loud, upset, and switched languages every second sentence.

"Hey Ami, I'm... No, I'm okay... well, I'm obviously not dead, am I? I just... no, no... all the busses going downtown got shut down, so I had to just hang out for a while... it's fine, I was with friends... um, probably not anyone you know... sigh, no, I'm not becoming a delinquent..."

Starfire saw that Wonder Girl had left and decided to fly over to Wolverine again wanting to ask him a question, "There are no other issues with HIVE at the moment, is there?"

"Aside from the lingering questions of why they were kidnapping Bang Babies in the first place, waiting on Turpin to tell us Hammer's going to be behind bars, how a guy that's Atlantis's most wanted criminal in involved with them, and the standard clean up.......no, not really," Wolverine said. *shnkt*

"Which means... ladies, gents." The Flash yawned. "We've got that beautiful, well deserved, most needed, all-encompassing free time. Shulkie, mind helping me take your red counterpart to our holding cells in the base? I doubt Iron Heights has a cell for Hulks."

At the lake

Jacob smiled at his cousin, ruffling her hair again. "You head back to base." He told her. "I've still got some things to take care of." He hugged her one more time, then flew off.

Business District

She-Hulk winced, feeling a sudden pang of secret identity guilt. She wanted to help Flash, but Jennifer Walters had legal things to do. Cases to go over, statements to prepare. And she'd been putting those things off all day being She-Hulk.

"You know I'd love to help, hun, but I've got some things to take care of." Jeez, she thought. Couldn't even come up with a decent excuse. Just..."things." No sooner had she said that, though, than a red-and-white blur came streaking through the streets, then looped around and went through again, and a third time, until all of the damage was repaired. Majestic stood in front of everyone, looking much better than he had when he'd left. She smiled at him, giving the Amish Wonder a pat on the cheek. "I'll catch you later." She said, then ran off and jumped away. Majestic's face turned a slightly peach shade before he turned his attention to The Flash.

"S -so." He started, trying to ignore forgetting his voice. "You needed help with something?" He smiled at Faiza, giving her a wave. "We weren't introduced, by the way. You can call me Majestic." He really should have picked a different name. He just sounded so...arrogant when he introduced himself.

Faiza smiled back and nodded politely at Majestic.

"I'm Captain Britain. Nice to meet you, I'm still pretty new here."

Most of the others looked at least vaguely familiar but she had no idea about this one. He looked heroic enough, though, and certainly seemed to have considerable power.

Kitty laughed. "I think you could make a case for it." A thought struck her, and she frowned, putting her hand up to her mouth. "Do you have any advice? For practice, I mean? I know our powers are way different, but other than trying to not fall through things, I'm not really sure what to do..."

Static tapped for a second, then gave a bit of a smirk. "Have you ever tried going through something on purpose?" He asked. "That might be a good way to start. If you can control when you want to be...not-solid, that'll make it easier for you to control being solid. Try to reach into the fridge without opening it, or just, I dunno, walk through a fence."

"Eesh. I know I'm the fast one, but that was a pretty mean dodge." The Flash said, pointing with his thumb to where She-Hulk had jumped off to. "Right. I guess I'm on tomato picking duties." He walked over to Red She-Hulk, grabbed her arm and groaned as he tried to lift her up. "Uh, Cap? Little... little help here?"

Majestic grabbed Red She-Hulk by an arm and slung her over a shoulder. "I've got her." He assured Flash. After thinking for a moment, he just had to ask. "I know she's unconscious, but is it still rude to point out that she weighs about as much as a car?"

"I'd wager a guess our green friend weighs as much as a car too." The Flash quipped.

"She doesn't!" Majestic blurted out quickly, almost defensively. He then decided to backpedal all over that statement. "I...I know because I've hel-....c-carried her. For flying. Stuff. Y'know. For missions. Because she can't fly."

"You do know people can weigh a lot and still be skinny, right?" The Flash chuckled. "I didn't meant to insult your girlfriend, if that's what you're wondering."

Majestic's eyes went wide, and his face was somehow now redder than Red She-Hulk. "She-she's not...we're not...we-we do-haven'-uh...." He sighed, looking at the ground. "Are we gonna go to the base or what?"

"Oh, sure. Just a tip- if you want people to not think you two are dating," The Flash leaned in, winking. "Learn to lie, buddy."

Majestic frowned for a second, then smirked. "You're just jealous because I got the nice one." Then he flew off to the base, actually surprised with himself for making a joke.

Faiza laughed as the two heroes argued awkwardly.

"Note to self: Figure out hero-hero relationships here."

She built up some speed and followed after Majestic. She still wasn't entirely sure where she was so it would take her some time to find it otherwise.

"Let's see this base of yours then."

Wolverine approached Flash as Majestic flew off. "Hopefully he isn't the green one's rebound just because Thor's missing," Wolverine said.

Kitty nodded, humming. "I could probably do that at home, at least," she agreed. Sticking her tongue out in concentration, she reached out towards the wall and attempted to stick her fingers through it. Only one made it (adrenaline was a wonderful thing, she guessed), but she had to yank it out when it started tingling.

Kitty laughed, shaking her head. "Yeah, I need some work." She looked down, pulling out her phone. "Hey, since you're my," she waggled her hand in the air, "superhero mentor or something, can I have your phone number? If I get in trouble or need some help picking out a cool name, or something." After a moment, she added, "If that's okay."

Peter decided that he had a superpower after all. Between the Super Adaptoid and Justin Hammer, any enemy that he fought with inevitably beat themselves. “Just like Indiana Jones.” Peter said to himself with satisfaction, watching the super powered swap meet.

Peter surveyed the crowd for Impulse so he could be satisfactorily impressed by his reference-fu (twenty years of aliens that can’t understand puns about Back to the Future began to grate on a man), but couldn’t pick him out. In the interest of not drawing the attention of the super powered collective, Peter zeroed in on the one least involved with the group; a girl off to the side, chattering into her cell phone.

Peter tapped his helmet away as he approached Kamela, shaking off a unique brand of déjà vu that made him feel as though this girl had participated in some past humiliation of his. Deciding it was possible enough to be true but had a list too long to be relevant, he came to a stop as he caught the gist of the conversation. Peter winced as the translation chip in his neck plucked out some choice exotic phrases from the other end of the line, and decided to tag in.

“If I may have your attention.” Peter said in his best authoritative bus driver voice, “thank you all for your patience. Your exceptional lack of delinquency is both appreciated, and an inspiration.” He said, overselling just a tad. “You are almost as amazing as your stylish, overwhelmingly handsome saviors, the Justice Avengers. Thank you.”

Regardless of whether or not it worked, while Peter had Kamela’s attention, he would begin miming a short, fast person. “Have you seen Impulse anywhere?” He whispered, trying not to get picked up by the phone.

Kara texting Kitty

' Kara nodded with a smile as she watched Majestic. God knows it would have been a depressing ending to her day, if he handn't showed up.

She took a few moments to see the water for a last time before leaving and then she texted Kitty,The only school friend she knew for sure had superpowers like her, the following messages.
