Justice Avengers: Jump City at Dusk

Rural Falls

The Renegades looked at each other. "Do you think this explains those weird occurences?" Commander Cold asked the others, who nodded as they pocketed their weapons. "I think we may have the answer to your questions."

Cold walked over to their computer, typing in a few keywords and pulling up a map of a section of Rural Falls displaying heat signals. There was a particularly big red blotch right on top of a warehouse. "This is a scan we made last week. This blotch represents these energy spikes we've been seeing for the past few days. They're not always constant, but when they happen, they're big."

"That's Ultimate Syndicate territory, so we couldn't just go and check." Trixster explained. "Does your friend produce copious amounts of energy?"

Jump City

"Think of myself... as a body..." The kid muttered as a faint mound appeared on the puddle of plastic... just as right behind Wolverine, a part of his elastic body snaked out of the drain, a huge hammer growing out of the puddle— until it was struck down by Blackfire, who shot two precise bolts of energy from her eyes, burning the hammer and sending the puddle on the ground flying away. It hit the window of a store and turned back into the kid, who fell down, unconscious.

Blackfire just smiled to herself. "I accept your groveling as a way of thanking me for saving your life." She said, looking down at Logan like she had just won a bet.

"I c-can't!" The girl yelled, raising her hands, just as a final nasty cloud sent down a big snowball. "I can't control it anymore! It's n-not working!"

"U-uh, I don't know." Jonas said, looking around. "Maybe with THIS!" He clutched his fist and attempted to punch Thor in the gut, sending all his volts into his body.

The electricity crackled up Thor's bodies and sparkled in his eyes before petering out. He patted Jonas on the head.

"That's cute, but not quite."

"What the—" Jonas grumbled, trying the same move over and over again, until something happened.

"Jonas, I think you should sit this one out," Thor told the boy.

Wolverine had to give the kid props. That was a rather elaborate setup. The mutant was planning punch out the kid was he completely reformed, and was planning on dodging the hammer strike, but luckily Backfire managed to blast it away. For some reason Wolverine would have gladly taken the hit instead.

"I'm not the groveling type," he said to the elder Princess, "but thanks anyway." He then looked up and saw the incoming severe snowstorm boiling in the sky. "I think we're need to find a weather manipulator......"

Starfire flew over to Blackfire and Wolverine with the girl in tow, "Weather Girl here says she can't control it any more."

"Umm, I don't know" Pulson Girl responded to She-Hulk. "I'm no physicist, my knowledge of my powers is instinctive. I suppose we could try it later."

Then the Renegades mentioned the "energy spikes".

"Again, I'm no physicist, but I don't have to be to know someone like The Flash MUST have an incredible amount of energy to move so fast."

Bart raised his hand.

"Quick question, how many guy's with super speed do they have?"

"You said something about the Ultimate Syndicate." She-Hulk raised a finger, pointing at the screen. "Tell me just how powerful these guys are, and if you know of any ways for us- particularly me and Majestic Hair over there- to hit them with enough strength to knock them out for... oh, let's go for a week or so."

Jump City

"Shut up, I can do this!" Jonas said, charging all his energy into one last punch... which fizzled out as his power disappeared. "Oh." He said as his weak fist hit Thor's chest. "Oooooh." He gritted his teeth, trying to smile. "I-I'm sorry?"

"Of course. This wouldn't be that easy." Blackfire said, rolling her eyes. "Logan, does your world have some kind of weather-altering machine? And if not, does anyone here have the power to create gusts of wind? Because that would be extremely helpful."

Rural Falls

"They've got Johnny Quick," Trixster said, showing a picture of the ginger speedster◊ they had faced before. "And his sidekick, Speed Demon." Another picture of a grinning speedster◊ appeared on the screen. "Two huge pain in the asses."

"If this Flash guy can produce huge amounts of energy, then the Ultimate Syndicate is using him to power something up." Commnder Cold said, humming in thought. "This is bad. That amount of energy could mean anything- from a toaster to... to a death laser!"

"Oh, the Ultimate Syndicate has a lot of strong fighters. Apart from Majestros over there," Top pointed at the cell. "They've got Misstro, Wildman, Darkfire, Atli... We can face 'em one on one, but when they get together, we always have to retreat."

A tapping sound came from the cell, as Majestros had woken up, and was now standing, tapping his finger on the cell wall, glaring not at the Renegades, but at Majestic, his other hand clenched into a fist.

Majestic spun around to face Majestros, and was surprised at his expression. Why was he so angry at him...self? He walked over to the chamber, trying not to get too close, as he did not trust what appeared to be glass against his double's strength. Still, there was something he had to ask.

"Where...are we from?"

"Don't put me and you in the same category, worm." Majestros slithered. "Although I can't help but be interested on you. Yes, at one point, I was as weak as you are." He murmured, mostly to himself, glancing down at Majestic's costume. "But that was years ago.. what is your story, boy?"

"I don't think those have been invented by someone that isn't a megalomanical mad scientist yet," Logan said, "and the only person I know that can control weather is at the school I used to for. In New York. I don't think we'll be able to get her in time before - "

The mutant then had a sudden idea. "Hey Thor!" he called out the Norse God. "You finished with your guy yet?"

Majestic balled his fists, readying himself for the confrontation that was sure to happen at any moment. Still, if this could help him find the answers he'd been looking for...

"I was raised by an Amish couple. But they were not my birth parents. They said I came to them from Heaven. As near as I have read, I am more than likely an alien. But I have no memory of my home, and none of my comrades who are aliens themselves seem to recognize my clothes as where I might be from. All I have of my birth is a dream. Does...any of this seem familiar to you?"

Majestros rubbed his chin in thought. "Our stories are similar. I was raised by a couple too, except this one lived in the slums of Rural Falls. They were forced by mankind to live in the underworld, and as a result, they taught me a few things I ended up using later in my life. Then they lost their use, and I got rid of them. They had turned into another pair of hairless monkeys cowering in fear of me, and the world is better without them. So why do you surround yourself with them, boy?"

Majestic bristled at the idea that this man was his double, having learned that he murdered his parents. Yet, still, he felt compelled to continue speaking.

"Because it is how I was raised to act. It is my responsibility. I was blessed with these powers so that I could defend all of God's children, not so that I would lord over them like some false idol." He scowled back at Majestros, unintentionally mirroring his expression. "I would rather be a "hairless monkey," powerless but helpful to his fellow man, than a bully parading as something he is not."

Majestros let out a thunderous laugh. "Do you even hear the words you speak, boy? Do you realize how powerful I am?!" His eyes glowed as he grinned. "I am not a false idol. I am a god, the genuine article! I have punched entire kingdoms into submission! I have burned other godly beings! You could be so much more if you didn't limit yourself to their level..." He leaned back, smiling. "I could teach you how, of course. Don't you want to be truly majestic? To redefine dictionaries all across the universe?!"

Majestic's eyes flashed red, his whole body burning with anger at his double's arrogance.    "I want nothing to do with you! I am nothing like you!"    He bellowed, and the whole room shook. Even Majestic was taken aback by his own outburst.

Thor ruffled Jonas hair, smiling like a grandpa smiled at his son's son getting right some ancient parable. "You go sit down now, I gotta take care of this."

The Prince Of Thunder strutted over to Wolverine And Girlfriends, raising his hand in a volunteering, "So, I can control the weather.

"Kind of."

"Could you stop our little freak weather before it starts harming the City?" Starfire asked Thor, still keeping her eyes on Weather Girl and her held.

"Majestic, don't let him get to you!!" Pulson Girl said, reaching over to him. "He's the one who is pathetic, hiding behind his power because he feels like a lonely freak. We are all products of our environment- any of us could have turned out like him, in the same situation. Just be glad you did have the love of a family- and friends."

Thor gritted his teeth, "Here's the thing. I'm a little more in the business of bringing storms." He rubbed the back of his head and looked up at the sky, "Sending them away is a bit outside my comfort zone.

"I can still try."

"Okay, Majestic, how about you step away from the evil clone?" She-Hulk said, moving over to touch his shoulder. "Seriously, hun, I got a feeling you're gonna inadvertedly punch the glass and break him free. And we don't want that."

Majestic scowled at Majestros, unmoving. He couldn't imagine HOW they could ever be the same person, no matter how different an upbringing he might have had. And yet, he could not turn away from him. Despite his anger, there were questions burning in his mind. Questions that this older version of himself might know the answer to.

Rural Falls

Majestros didn't even flinch after his copy's outrage. "I wouldn't drown myself in the fake serenity of your friend's words." He said, glancing offhandedly at Pulson Girl. "Why, taking a look at your group of friends, I see some similarities between them and my group of... co-workers. Except that's where it all ends. Similarities. The people whom I work with are inherently different than the people you work with. Why-" He pointed at She-Hulk. "That one is an alien for me. Do you realize what this means, boy? They're different from my group because they are entirely opposite beings. You... you're just me being raised by the wrong people. So ask yourself... who was raised correctly? Who is putting their abilities to their rightful use? Me, the conqueror feared across the galaxies?... or the country bumpkin who probably can't even control his x-ray vision?... and you dare to call yourself majestic. "

Jump City

A blast hit Thor's back. "Then get to it, idiot." Blackfire snarled, glaring daggers at the Thunder God.
