Bleach versus Naruto

Well, this is pretty obvious from the title. This isn't about which is a better manga, but which characters/abilities/characters from either universe would you prefer and consider superior.

Well, Bleach is better if you're cleaning clothes and Naruto is better if you're eating noodles.

Well, you could have just had this as a thread comparing many shonen manga instead of just two (although they are very popular).

If it was "Which one is better?" I would say Naruto. I don't like the Bleach humour, the emotional moments fall flat, the fights have bad choreography, too many characters look exactly the same, and everything is really dragged out.

Bring it: even Madara's vaunted 'perfect' Susanoo is no match for the power of Bankai. Or to be specific, Kamishini no Yari (literally God-killing Spear).

But I wanted it to be between Bleach and Naruto. And this discussion isn't about which is the better manga/anime; its about characters, abilities, and concepts. To start with, Ichigo > Naruto. For one thing, he isn't a Mary Sue.

Okay, so this thread was created for the sole reason of BRF being able to wank Aizen some more.

Bleach isn't the most gender-fair of all manga, but it at least isn't as grossly sexist as Naruto.

Ichigo is less developed as a main character than Naruto, but in turn he's more likable.

The setting is more believable and interesting in Naruto. Soul Society is a rather stupid and unfair afterlife, while the villages at least have more of an AU appeal.

Bleach has better character designs, but Naruto has better backgrounds, although it isn't exactly hard beating Bleach there.

Aquaman has cool superpowers (seriously, he has super-strength and stuff), while Batman has no superpowers. At the end of the day, Batman is the superhero who has been the best received.

Or maybe a different example.

How many people would say that Superman is more nuanced and interesting than Batman?

Well, Kubo does have a reputation for not putting much detail into his backgrounds...most of the time anyway.

Having better powers does not equate to being a better character or series.

Well, no character holds a series by themselves. Batman has a much better cast and rogues gallery than Aquaman, so that helps him, too.

Yes, he is. He's basically Ninja Jesus, and he has counters for each and every ploy his enemies throw at him.

I find Ichigo more likable than Naruto ever has been. He's more mature for one thing.

Read the manga, since you don't seem to know what you're talking about. He would have died in the War about four times already if he hadn't been saved by someone else.

Ichigo is dangerously Sueish at times himself, with his tendency to pull powerups out of his ass when the plot calls for it, and overall has led a much better life than Naruto, who in a way has had to suffer more to earn what he's got. I'm not saying Ichigo doesn't work hard himself, but...

Wasn't Naruto's story in the Gokage arc about how he's destroying himself by trying to save everyone? His selflessness leads to hubris as he tries to change everything.

I did. And ever since Naruto became best buddies with that damned fox, he became a Mary Sue.

He has to struggle with the same skill set all the time; basically, his only attack is Getsuga Tenshou, and his most powerful attacks are either one-time attacks (Final Getsuga Tenshou) or not really his (full Hollow Cero). Naruto has a Rasengan variant for just about every situation.

I like the powers in Bleach more. Characters about equal. I like Naruto's art style better because I like backgrounds. I prefer Naruto's storyline save for a few arcs, including the latest one.

Also I don't think Naruto is a Marty Stu. I mean, if he counts, then Ichigo should also count.

Way to ignore the important part of my comment. You don't even have any arguments in your favour. Simply saying: "Naruto is a Mary Sue!" often enough won't make it true.
