So... I hope I get a hefty movie theater giftcard in 2015. Seriously that year is getting loaded with high end projects.

Who cares? It's probably not going to be any good if it does come out, and until I see an actual trailer I'm doubtful it will exist in any form.

So we have a teaser, finally..

Look like it is really going to happen now, never thought I would see this day, haha.

Haven't really watch Source Code, but I love Moon, so I hope Duncan Jones' first foray into fantasy and adaptation of existing franchise went well.

If a Warcraft movie possibly means they're open to adaptations in general, I'm all for it if it means we might get a Starcraft movie (I swear, Starcraft 1 and Brood War are perfect fodder for a trilogy).

Though knowing them they'll probably have mostly World Of Warcraft stuff, I'm still hoping a score for a Warcraft movie involves some nods to the older music. Like this.

I can't think of a single video game movie that hasn't been terrible, but yes, the Queen of Blades on the big screen would have serious potential for awesome.

I don't think it is... Legendary is making a habit of putting out these teaser pitch videos at Comic Con, and not only do they not release it for the public to gain interest, no one camrecorded it.

How does that happen? Do they collect everyone's cameras/phones before showing off teasers/trailers? I guess not everything leaks onto the Internet...

So just wondering what people think the story will be. Will it be based on any of the games or something original? If it is based on the games story what will be the focus in terms of the story and characters?

I think it will be based on the story from the game but since the filmmakers probably don't want to get tied down with lore this early on they will probably go for a period that isn't that lore heavy at least compared to other periods.

Given that I think a movie about the First War between orcs and humans would work great. The character focus should be with Khadgar, Lothar, and Medivh on the human side and Doomhammer, Garona, and Duratan on the orc side with Blackhand, Gul'dan, and Cho'gall as the villains.

@ Warrior Eowyn: Silent Hill wasn't too bad, surely?

I haven't seen it (don't really have the guts for horror movies).

I went to Ohayocon back in '08 when they were doing the debut tour of the live action Fullmetal Alchemist movie on the con circuit. (It was a short, and it used the voice actors as their characters) They actually did order us not to film it, and I didn't see a single camera or phone pop up to disobey.

So I guess that CAN work. tongue

[up][up] That's too bad. Silent Hill is the only good video game movie I can think of though, which says something in and of itself.

There probably won't be much news till Blizzcon in November but there was a cool article on Bleedingcool.com that gave all the info to date about the production. It will begin filming in early 2014 and the story will follow the basic plot of the first game "Warcraft: Orcs and Humans" and its novelization "The Last Guardian".

There are even rumors that they want Johnny Depp to play Medivh. Just a rumor at this point but they have pushed back the production of the next Pirates movie for a 2016 release so he has the time. For Lothar I want Sean Bean, the man has the perfect presence to be Anduin Lothar.

I can’t think of who I want to play Khadgar or the others right now but I wonder what other people think.

I thought plot was already established as taking place between TFT and World Of Warcraft.

I don't know how canon it will be compared to other material but having parts of the lore retconned is something Blizzard has done before. As for the specific story, I am just going by what the article I read stated. That could change. For now it looks like the story for the movie will follow the same progression as the games. This makes sense since the early games were very simple in terms of story and characters, even with new elements retconned into the timelines, so they would be the easiest to adapt.

Or they could do something like set it between 3 and World Of Warcraft, and make their own story rather than trying to adapt one of the games into a movie.
