What people need to remember is that this conference wasn't meant specifically for gamers. The whole point was to catch the interests for Developers, Shareholders, and potential investors.
E3, GDC, and even TGS is what you're going to want to watch for game reveals.
I want to say I'm not impressed but this is only the first real glimpse into anything that we've had so far. I'm real curious about the Final Fantasy announcement though. I can't wait for E3 to get here. I really wanted Versus (or whatever the assets from it get put into) to be on the PS 3, but I'm now harboring a suspicion that it'll end up on the PS 4.
...PS Quadruple? *snicker*
We didn't get any new memes out of this did we? Dammit.
Main issues with The PS 3 was the fact that it was hard to develop games for it. The entire conference beyond the social stuff and gamez, was Sony saying "Hey its a lot easier for you guys to develop games for our system.....come back pls."
youtube.com/Fire Trainer 92They'll probably announce that Versus is being moved to the PS 4 at E3, but won't actually show anything, and after that it'll vanish off the face of the earth for another five years.
Welcome to th:|... Wouldn't the devs already know that though, since they're supposed to be making games for it before it's announced so that they can announce it with some games?
Oh that would just be brutal. Have we ever been told WHY there have been such insane delays?

They know that but its not like they went to every Dev and said "Hey we have this new system we want you to check out.
youtube.com/Fire Trainer 92My guess is that Duke Nukem took over the game's development. He's had precedence for doing that. (Word of advice: you should probably be at home before clicking the link. I wouldn't call it NSFW, but your workplace may not agree.)

I would really enjoy a Darker and Edgier Final Fantasy game and Versus seems to be what would give me my fix. I'll just have to wait.
Wouldn't mind hearing how Devil May Cry and Resident Evil are going to be handled in the future, although Dm C and RE 6 just came out so they might as well take a break. Would also like to know about the "Tales of" and Neptunia series' (both have games scheduled for 2013 in the US) so might not hear about that either.

This just occurred to me, but a likely reason for Versus XIII going missing is that they decided to move it from the Crystal Tools engine to their new Luminous engine...y'know, kinda like Duke Nukem Forever.

Welcome to th:|It's gonna bomb. The mention of a engine chance and already i can tell that it will fail.
Phew(like Duke Nukem Forever)
Oooooooh boy...
Still feels like we're firmly entrenched in the seventh generation. That should change once all three companies get their consoles out.

Game wise, I don't see a huge leap. Sony is more focused on the actually functionality and social media use of their console.
The next Xbox is no doubt going to be pushing Kinect 2.0 heavily.
It feels like they could have just designed a new model of the PS 3 with all the social networking stuff, but I guess people would get mad if they already owned a previous version. Then again, they would probably just ignore the newer version if they didn't want the social stuff since it wouldn't be a "new" console. It feels like we've hit a gaming ceiling. I'm waiting for Sony to blow me out of the water in the future. And who knows? Maybe Microsoft might surprise me.
Dang, I really hate waiting. I want to see E3 already!

This thing is going to be expensive as all hell, man.
Yes. There's a reason they've said absolutely nothing about pricing, or the look, and why they're showing ads with nothing concrete in them in front of every single goddamn video on youtube. (Yeah yeah adblocker blah blah)
My guess is they rushed it out to beat the Microsoft equivalent.
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet. There didn't seem to be anything to justify creating a new console.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. The PS 3's hardware is getting there, and the XBOX has long been holding back development. The XBOX probably should have jumped ahead a while ago, really.
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.So Yeah, appearantly this wasn't a good thing, Because Sony's Stocks Dropped after the event.
Doesn't look good for poor Sony.
Eh, it happens all the time. Not that Sony isn't having troubles with finances right now, but still.
Happened with the Wii U too. HMMMMM
Screens: Are they worth it?

my drawing blog ya'll UPDATES 10 TIMES A MONTH WOW, THIS IS STRAIGHT UP MUH SOGGY KNEEThe one big thing I hated about this conference was that it could all easily fit into ONE FRICKEN HOUR. I wouldn't mind if it only lasted ONE HOUR, but they went out of their way TO MAKE IT TWO HOURS.
Most of it wasn't even interesting. A lot of talking could have been cut down.
Also, the one thing that rubbed me the wrong way was how they put all focus on how beautiful the graphics were, and how much detail there could be added. I really couldn't give much about graphics.
In fact, when Media Molecule took the stage and started their introduction, I was actually quite relieved, because they knew what would be fun, they didn't talk about graphical prowess, nobody gives about graphics if the game is dukey, and the video, even though it was just, I don't know, fruity, it also looked extremely fun. That's what I wanted to see. Who cares about graphics? The entire focus of the press conference lied in how graphically superior it was to the rest, that and the social aspect nobody really did give a crap about.
No, seriously, this can't do. We have to stand up to this. No longer should we be slaves to the graphics. No longer shall we be impressed by shallow things like how beautiful something looks. We should shift our focus to what is really important. We play games to be entertained, we don't want to play through basically a five hour interactive cutscene. In the heat of battle, you don't have time to look at the flowers and the bushes, when you're racing towards the finish you don't care how damaged your carborator looks or how all these dirt spots realistically fly towards your bumper.
No, what we want is to game, to play video games, to be impressed not just by art, but by what we can achieve ourselves.
But seriously, Media Molecule should really flesh out the idea. Me likey.
Also Watch Dogs, holy crap, that looks amazingly fun.

Well, after watching it, I can say that while I'm not disappointed, I'm not impressed either. The PS 4 is gonna be expensive, and the only game that intrigued me was "Knack", which appeared to me to be a Wii U Game made by Nintendo. I'm gonna have to give this some time. Maybe it'll impress at E3, but for now, I'm not sold.
