The worst thing about this episode is that it basically confirms all those terrible fanart portraying Jasper as submissive to Lapis post-Malachite. Great episode though, if a bit unsubtle.

-sigh-
Fine, I'll say all this again. Matt Burnett flat out said Jasper is far more complex than we've seen. The comic con picture shows her hanging out with all the good guys, as well as wearing a flower that symbolizes love and friendship. Multiple members of the crew have drawn art of Jasper and Lapis in romantic situations and posted them online. Jasper's VA has said Jasper has a hidden heart of gold.
Just because the show hasn't shown Jasper's good side yet, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
I wouldnt say she was submissive hell she was as forceful and imposing as ever, it was just a case of Ain't Too Proud to Beg.

You underestimate the mental gymnastics people will go through to justify their headcanons.
My various fanfics.Character Complexity doesn't just mean moral complexity...

YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Agreed that Steven doesn't seem to hate or dislike Jasper, as much as he always treats her as though he expects her to be hostile / an enemy - he's also obviously afraid of her in a way he usually isn't to other enemies (another one he reacted like that too is Holo-Pearl). This is a bit uncharacteristic of him, especially in contrast to Peridot - who even when he had no reason to believe she could be harmless he always treated nicely (this, if nothing else, was the first meta-hint that she was going to turn good).

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Stephen also Captain America'd his shield into P-dot's head in "Friendship"...he's not hostile, that's all he isn't.

YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.@smokeycut: It might exist yeah, but no need for repeat for Peridot's character arc. There are multiple types of redemption arcs and some of them aren't cliche "You rescued me, I rescue you" Jasper kinda seems type of character that needs to work harder for redemption than Peridot did, Peridot was kinda a dork as villain while Jasper was actually bad guy
After spending the whole episode being all friendly and telling her he wished she had a nice weekend, yeah.
Even when fighting Peridot, he was always very jovial and lighthearted, whereas he instantly snaps to panic/aggressive mode whenever Jasper shows up.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.@Random: and? That was one of many points. What about the comic con poster? What about what Kimberly Brooks said? What about the other two members of the Homeworld Trio becoming good guys?
To be fair, all of that's pretty circumstantial.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I don't doubt she will eventually become a good guy, I just doubt it will come nearly as easy as it did for Peri and Lapis. And even if it does, the chances of Lapis and the rest of the Gems accepting her is very low

Lapizuli was never bad...she always held a neutral stance, not being apart of the war and just tryin' to get back home, ya know?

YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Ugh. It just gets really annoying when the show's literal theme is "teach others how to love and care for each other" and yet a giant chunk of the fandom keeps talking about how Jasper will never be redeemed and is nothing more than a piece of garbage. Like, I'm not certain some of us are watching the same show.
She broke an innocent man's leg, trapped someone in a toxic relationship, stole the earth's water, and tried to drown two kids. That's kind of bad.

No one's saying she won't be redemption...
Breaking Gregory's leg was the only unintentional thing that happened while she was simply stopping the Crystal Gems from trying to capture her. She just didn't care about the Earth...stealing the water unprovoked was the bad thing.

YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Cool motive, still did bad things.
And I'm genuinely just very tired of dealing with everything from this episode. I figured I'd get to see my favorite character, and instead I can't even go into her tag on another site, because it's nothing but calling her fans abuse/rape apologists and mocking the character and her fans. Needless to say, I'm kind of bummed after all this.
I'm having trouble coming up with a hugging Pearl sprite.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.I bet you wish Garnet let Stephen hug them back in "Steven Floats"...that would've gotten you some idea.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. What situation do you have in mind? And who's the target?
My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes! Can I say that I'm bit confused about how people can become huge fan of characters that show up really late in show and have barely any appearances to fanatic degree .-. Like, if they are your favourite character to the point them not being shown in way you want depresses fans, how did they enjoy the show up to their appearances?
Well anyway, Lapis and Peridot didn't exactly give Steven blackeye while smiling like maniac and there isn't really anything to imply she would have it just as easy they had redemption wise besides "But Peridot was bad guy-ish!"
The obvious answer is because they didn't know the character existed before their debut appearance.
That question is only appropriate to people rewatching the series.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.I meant, "since you enjoyed the show up to now, are you sure there isn't nothing to enjoy about show afterwards?" Since a lot of fans are like "If my favourite character dies, I'll stop watching D:" and stuff
I don't think anybody is that extreme about Jaspee...she's not too great.
YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.
If Marty didn't looks sooo...Simpsons-ish, maybe they would.
