Oh Superhero costumes! You so silly!

Okay so I was reading the Sexism in comics thread and every once and a while a post would give an explanation for why a costume was the way it was. So I thought lets have a game where we try to justify terrible superhero costumes. Not just sexist ones but terrible ones in general.

There are two categories of prizes. You can win "most sensible explanation" and "most hilarious explanation." I will name which superhero we are doing and after a minimum of five explanations in each category have been offered (maximum of 20) the people who won the last contest chooses the winner in the same category. I will then announce who the next hero is and we all start again. Canon explanations don't matter.

You can PM me for suggestions. You are not allowed to enter in a category if you won the it last time so you cannot choose yourself but you can enter in the other category assuming you didn't win it last time. You can only offer one explanation in each category. I will choose the winners of the first contest because we don't have any prior winners. If I get bored I can name a new Game Master and they will choose the next hero.

In honor of the Sexism thread that inspired this game the first Hero is... POWER GIRL!

I actually like Power Girl's costume but hey, some people take umbrage with it.

After Power Girl we will do Star Fire and after that we will be using PM submissions.

Because the yellow and white one made her look like a lumpy banana.

Because it's the same color as the flag in the us and everyone knows that that beats everything.

Because some people think that if your costume has no chest logo, it shouldn't have a chest at all. (I'm pretty sure this was used as the in-story reason at least once)

Correct. IIRC, she couldn't think up a logo so she didn't put one on.
