So, I'm a longtime and fairly hardcore boxing fan. And over the years, I've learned to appreciate a lot of different aspects of the sport, whether it be the unpredictable skills of a Pernell Whitiker, whose defense baffled his opponents while he used his punches like a scalpel in picking them apart, or the precision of an Alexis Arguello, who was like a sniper in the ring, looking for the opening and delivering the big punch.

Still, as much as I can wax poetic about the jab of Larry Holmes or the counterpunching abilities of Juan Manuel Maquez, there is something truly awe inspiring about a real, knock you dead with one punch knockout puncher. Seeing someone who actually hits opponents so hard they go stiff, or flail around the ring like they just got hit with a big electric charge, etc.

So, on that note allow me to present Julian Jackson, picked by many boxing fans as being a serious contender for the crown of pound for pound hardest hitting fighter of all time, and the owner of some of the most amazing knockouts you'll ever see.

Jackson KOs Herol Graham: (This if the whole last round and the aftermath. KO at 2:30, replays from a better angle star around 3:55)

Jackson KOs hall of famer Terry Norris: (whole fight is in the link, if you just want the KO go to around 5:00 in) Link

Jackson KOs Buster Drayton: (Last round only, I recommend watching the whole thing just to listen to the impact of Jackson's punches, go to 1:55 or so for the KO) Link

Jackson KOs Wayne Powell: (Go to 1:55 for the KO, replays start at 3:10) Link

Another great example is Bob Foster, perhaps the hardest hitting light heavyweight there ever was. He blew away a lot of guys with very good chins, and so below I posted his most brutal KO, over Mike Quarry. If you want to go straight to the KO, go to 5:30 and wait a few seconds, replays from a better angle at 6:50 and 7:20.

Fortunately Quarry was ok because that's a scary KO, to the point that his brother Jerry (who was also a fighter) was at ringside screaming "You killed my fucking brother!" at Foster while poor Mike was still out on the canvas.

Or for a currently active example, Nonito Donaire has built himself a pretty good reputation for this in the lower weight classes. (Go to 0:52 for the KO, 1:27 for the awesome replay.)

The main differences being that Donaire does it mostly off of counter-punching rather than an aggressive posture, and that he's built up such a reputation for his power and speed that most fighters are taking a completely defensive posture and doing nothing themselves to try to deny him such an opportunity.

Also of note is Donaire's KO of Vic Darchinyan (6:32)
