It's not my style of game, but the titles Atlus themselves develop are pretty uniformly good, so even without hearing about any first impressions or watching much in the way of gameplay, I already know it's going to be a good, if not very offbeat, game.

Do we know the story on the ruined, Vortex World-esque city seen in the trailer yet?

I can tell you that the red robed Mirages are all brainwashed. This included the hero Mirages and that Toma was already a Mirage Master before Itsuki and Tsubasa even knew what they were.

Spoilers Don't look if you don't want spoiled.

Also Itsuki curing Chrom of his brainwashing was due to having Marth's power. Who slayed Medeus in the past alongside his companions. Gharnef now seeks Marths power in order to resurrect him. You have to beat Marth's former companions in a test to get the power needed to defeat the final boss, where Itsuki is now cosplaying Marth with Super Cyan God Super Cyan Hair. Also Barry and the one lady do have outfits of their own. Looks like they're Priests/Bishops.

Wisely chose not to read the spoiler.

Didn't expect Toma to be everyone Sempai in the Mirage Master department.

Kinda makes him a little more like Eikichi then Junpei or Yosuke.

I know it seems like people are bashing the game, but it's not a bad game. The combat looks good, some tracks are fine, and getting past the bright colors it seems to look very good for a Wii U game. The fact is however this will not do well in terms of sales if the first week is anything to go with and this is something people can't deny.

I would not mind another spin off series now that we know this is what to expect, but sadly this seems to be a commercial flop. Believe me I like other games like Parasite Eve, Okami, and No More Heroes but the fact is they did not sell well...

On the bright side, all three games you mentioned there had sequels didn't they?

So... how serious was last page's request for a plot run down? Because while I don't know any spoiler content, I can say that it's basically about a bunch of people getting involved in the Japanese entertainment industry who find out that there's a supernatural backdrop to the whole thing. People are disappearing and Fire Emblem themed demons are trying to invade the real world while Fire Emblem themed Personas team up with teenagers with attitude to fight the first group off.

As for characters... the main cast is all people involved in the industry. Main character is an outsider, but his best friend (girl) wants to be an idol singer, while the obligatory Junpei type wants to be a tokusatsu hero (Power Ranger/Masked Rider). The others are already involved I think, and fit various character archetypes and industry roles.

...Huh. You know, I just realized this is basically the Japanese equivalent to Brutal Legend. evil grin

I do see some complaints about the end being a rehash of stories we've already seen with only some key differences. I won't say what ones of course.

Also a number of FE character Enemy Mirages appear in sidequests. Abel appears in Tomas as the boy Riku's Mirage and Lon'qu appears in Tsurugi's as the mirage possessing his father after he kidnaps him at the beginning of the game.

I heard there are other complaints about the ending as well. Like the fact they never say goodbye to the Mirages at the end.

Don't know. I've been watching what I've found. I came across the ending by accident when I initially only planned to watch up till Aversas defeat.

Something I've read is that a lot of the generic enemies are named after fictional pop-culture monsters, like Casper and Sadako. Pity that probably won't survive the localization process.

Like how they pulled a FFX and made switching party members a free action.

Getting combo attacks for hitting weaknesses/criticals is real cool but it seems like they get long in the tooth by end game. Maybe they should have done it like persona and strange journey and had everyone attack at once?

I know I was talking bad about the game earlier, but that's because from a business perspective I see this as a disaster. It seems there was no attempt to make something people would want to buy, especially on this system. It's just an unappealing game from conception to execution.

Now unappealing doesn't mean bad. As a Fire Emblem fan I'm uninterested. As an Atlus fan... well Etrian Odyssey is the only thing from them I've really liked, though I did enjoy what little I've played of SMT4. But as a JRPG fan? Well I generally prefer them on handhelds, but a good console one is great too, and since the gameplay is reportedly great, I'm modestly excited and want it to come over as soon as possible. And I do have a soft spot for idols.

Switching is a free action? Sweet. Switching taking a turn makes me not want to switch since that tends to waste precious turns, especially in difficult games. How long is it anyway? 20 or 50 hour range?

I don't mind handheld, but I prefer playing these games on consoles (since I missed out on the chance to play a lot of them during previous eras).

Plus I like the idea of playing a game where I can eat breakfast or lunch while fighting enemies. I used to do that when I played Super Mario Rpg (despite the concept of Timed hits). It's just something I wan to be able to do again really.

[up][up] It did seem like the final boss was taking so long because of the battle system but it's not a bad gameplay style I liked it in FFX.

Anyways if you want a real FE or SMT fix there is SMT IV Final and Fates to look towards in 2016. This is a very safe by the numbers jrpg with nothing earth shattering or unique, and just a mindless fun game with colorful lighting and music. People will enjoy that and others won't simple as that.

I'm still looking forward to the game, bad sales or not. Hey, maybe word of mouth will at least give the game a few more legs.

Anyways, who do you think should be chosen for the dub actors if the game gets localized? The only one I can think of is Cristina Vee as Kiria. wink

So, looking at the credits (big spoilers coming up), apparently Ken Narita pulls double duty as both Yatsufusa and Gharnef. Probably not surprising, considering Gharnef's OVA actor died in 2012...

Speaking of voice actors, Hikaru Midorikawa gets credited as Marth. I've been looking for where Marth speaks, but I haven't found it yet. Marth does speak in this game, right?
