Are people seriously forgetting Inquisition? Bioware is already back.
(To say nothing of how ME3 was a damn good game)

Bioware only needs to win back anyone that left ship if they didn't like Mass Effect 3. Fans of their other properties don't really have to be on back.
E3 trailer.
Highlights / my observations
- Looks like we get to Andromeda via Sleeper Starship.
- Our (probable) ship is called the Tempest.
- At least one krogan and salarian in the crew.
- Hostile alien looks like a bipedal yahg.
- Asari (?) with facepaint over her eyes and a mischievous smile
- Some kind of lava monster alien.
- Thresher maws. Which probably means that some maw spores got into the Sleeper Starship's cargo. Whoops.
- Fighting alongside a helmeted humanoid and a krogan.
- Krogan tossing a guy off a ledge while protagonist watches.
- Can anyone ID Ryder's (?) voice actress.
I just hope there's a male protagonist option.
And also I am so glad this wasn't like E3 2015's ME "trailer."
Why wouldn't there be?
This song needs more love.Eh, just hoping we won't be shoehorned into a female protagonist role. Call it an irrational fear.
I'm pretty sure that they confirmed that we can choose the protagonist's gender at the same time they confirmed we have to play as a human.
It does seem like they're pushing the female Ryder as the "default" option like the male Shepard was for the last three games.
This song needs more love.Heh then I expect the male protag to give the farewell speech for the successor protag like Fem-Shep gave to Ryder.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Inquisition was pretty so-so. Only companions I ended up liking were Varric, Cassandra, and Dorian.
I agree the story could have used some work but I loved pretty much everything else about it, except for Sera. She was the companion that I liked the least. Plus it looks like with this new engine we'll be seeing characters that are a lot more expressive, if that asari was anything to go by.
@theLibrarian: Um, when was the last time that Bioware didn't allow you to pick between male or female?
Personally, I think they're just trying to move away from the idea of male being the default, which I applaud them for.
Oh God! Natural light!Yeah, I can understand that. Plus if the protagonist's name really is "Ryder" then it would be a good tribute to Sally Ride for the canon person to be female.
Yup, same here. Almost every game that allows you to choose the gender of your protagonist presents them as a guy in promotional material.

Of course you can play as either a male or a female character. That has literally been confirmed since the game was announced.
Seeing that Shepard was named in honor of Alan Shepard
while Ryder's get their name from Sally Ride... I guess making Ryder Female makes some internal logical sense
or maybe its Male Shep was treated as the default but Femshep got more popular so they've flipped it around.
Its gonna really come down to the voice I suppose
Bioware decides to release their game after the end of my PhD, and on top of that, they advertise with the female version of the protagonist. Best studio ever.
Also, idiots seem to be offended because the asari does not look like a supermodel.

There is no canon gender for Shepard, and there is no canon gender for Ryder. It is really irksome when people pretend there is a canon gender for customizable characters where the customization includes gender.
Good to see emphasis being placed on the female option tho, we've come a long way since ME 1 and 2.
I quite like that - the Asari are monogendered so it'd be weird that they JUST looked like pretty blue ladys (Yes, I know they're a vague allusion to the Orion Slave girls... but anyway) having one who looks a bit more "normal" makes sense.
But I'm sure the outraged crowd are either upset that it's a deviation from original ME looks (Which was more likely due to engine limitations and space on discs) OR they're basically all about anything vaguely feminine having to align perfectly to the "look" of perfect space lady.
Anyway, looks good either way.
I have no idea what these strange people are talking about. She looks like an Asari. That's just how they look.
yeyMac Walters confirmed in an interview with Geoff Keighley that the female character seen at the end of the E3 trailer was the female protagonist, and yes, the ME: Andromeda protagonist is called Ryder.
And there are more than one Ryders. There's a Ryder family.
Will there be a Jack Ryder, expert journalist?

"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."
A lot of people are, including myself. Hipefully, Bioware can redeem itself in the eyes of the fanbase with a fantastic game that preserves and enhances what everyone loved about the earlier games.
