So Sasami-san At Ganbaranai, or Sasami@unmotivated as the fansubs put it (Sasami-san@No Effort as the Winter 2013 Anime page puts it).

I liked the first episode. It's light and crazy enough that I don't have to take it seriously. It seems like a Studio Shaft series all right. It's weird. The music is an interesting choice.

Of course that also means fanservice. At least I think that's what that is?

So they wind up fighting off chocolate in a chocolate world with chocolate and they choco chock chocolate?

I actually look forward to seeing what will happen next. Seems like anything could.

As a comedy, it's kind of weak, but as an oddball series is succeeds spectacularly. Will be watching

Hmm... Ok.

I was just.... What the hell?

I noticed that a lot of the humor in the show was a lot of puns that didn't translate, and really couldn't (Listen to the "Pun intended/unintended" lines with your ears, not the subtitles.)

I can assure you that this will likely not get funny for the dialogue.... However, the sheer insanity could be worth watching.....

The characters looking like updated versions of Neon Genisis Evangellion characters with hair dye, the mental images... ETC.... Will terrify me.

Now, Will it be worth watching next week? Maybe.

However, I did snicker about the gag regarding the title of Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate... Given I was a fan of the show.

Alright... so far my theory is that Sasami's brother is the equivalent of Haruhi Suzumiya in their world. He gets excited with something and then the world changes.

There's also the possibility that Sasami's computer is the one that goes out of control and causes the world to change.

Then there is the chance that this is Shaft and Shaft owes nobody any explanations so enjoy your chocolate as you chocolate in your chocolate.

If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.

Well, there was a shot of the guy doing the Hare Hare Yukai dance. To those of us well-versed in otaku-fu, that, combined with other evidence, basically tells us the essential facts about what's going on.

So yes, he is, in all likelihood, a Haruhi-style reality warper. Except his powers seem to be even less stable.

And he's even more of a loon than Haruhi. Or maybe it actually is Haruhi with a fake voice module? We never saw his face, so it could be true.

Well yeah, I wouldn't make that comparison either.

Perhaps Bakemonogatari meets Haruhi?

...None of you guys noticed the strong Shintou theme? Tsukuyomi is a major god, and the sisters are named for the three sacred treasures. I'd assume it's not so much about reality warpers as it is gods

Amaterasu secluding herself in a cave is a pretty major Shinto story, so in that context I would assume it's about that, especially since Tsukuyomi is her brother.

And yeah, I didn't like FLCL at all.

Boy, by saying that, you have incurred the wrath of a thousand fanboys. Especially since several sites ranked it the best anime of the previous decade.

What do you not like about it, and what makes this anime different.

Ugly, unlikeable characters, boring plot, randomness that just isn't funny, pointless, and overall embodies the worst parts of series made on drugs. I could mention more, but that would force me to go back and check out what it was I didn't like, which, obviously, won't happen.

I don't really care about fanboys. It's up to them to like it, but I don't. I think websites hype if for being different, not for being good. It may be the most overhyped series I know of.

[up][up] You have read my username?

*Incoming Derail*

This is a thing I can watch, FLCL is not. I think the fault is yours for comparing them in the first place.

I'm not saying this series is objectively better. If anything, FLCL is slightly more unique and I think it's evident that the creators put quite some effort into it.

However, it's clearly mecha-based which isn't a thing I like, it references other shows which I have no interest in and some of the the over-the-top moments come off as trying too hard to be funny. In fact there were no real laugh out loud moments that I saw. I don't like Naota, he just comes off as bland; Haruko is creepy and not particularly relatable; Mamimi just comes off as really weird.

Maybe some people just wanted some silly action and got it, although I didn't even enjoy the silly action. Maybe it had hidden depths, though I doubt they'd make up for what I didn't like.

Best anime of the previous decade though? Hardly. Not on my list.

My opinion is that talking about entertainment in terms of bests is an ultimately pointless waste of time..

There are things you like, things you dont like, and things you would call the best thing ever if it was simply more recent in memory.

I strongly prefer to term it in good, bad, and worth watching if needed, and strong/weak points when I can get away with it.

Well, that was...unique.

I was expecting something like Chaos;Head with a female protagonist and the whole thing played for comedy and randomness, and instead I got HOLY FUCKING SHIT A CHOCOLATE DRAGON.

Really liking Sasami's design, though.

Did anyone else notice Loading Hack_SKYNET.dll in the boot-up screen on Sasami's computer? There's a shout-out I wasn't expecting.
