I mean, if it's the release date or so on, you hype it a year in advance. If it's a teaser for a site, then I'd think they'd go for something a little closer.
It's been fun.Kinda figured since there was nothing special about that date.
I think they said Three Dog wouldn't be in Fallout Four, so I'm calling bullshit.
They didn't confirm that he's not, but it's definitely up in the air.
They're not going to let all that info get up on IMDB without having an actual announcement event.
I don't know, 2017 seems kinda far away (even though it really isn't...) for them to be doing this. Unless they just started production a few months ago, I'd expect it to be finished around late 2015 to early 2016.

In addition, perhaps this might also prove insightful.
I'm not putting faith in any new announcements that aren't official.
My heart can't take more disappointment
Oh really when?Maybe you'll think of me when you are all alone.
Maybe the one who is waiting for you.
Will prove untrue, then what will you do?
Maybe you'll sit and sigh, wishing that I were near.
Then maybe *kzzt* maybe *kzzt* maybe *kzzt* maybe *kzzt* maybe
Man, I could really go for an official teaser trailer of 4 right about now.

Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold.Give me a trailer to build a dream on
And my imagination will thrive upon that trailer
Sweetheart, I ask no more than this
A trailer to build a dream on
Give me a trailer before you leave me
And my imagination will feed my hungry heart
Leave me one thing before we part
A trailer to build a dream on
When I'm alone with my mininukes...i'll be with you
Weaving carnage...making believe they're true
Give me your trailer for just a moment
And my imagination will make that moment live
Give me what you alone can give
A trailer to build a dream on
When I'm alone with my mini-nukes...i'll be with you
Weaving carnage...making believe they're true
Give me a trailer to build a dream on
And my imagination will thrive upon that trailer
Ah sweetheart, I ask no more than this
A trailer to build a dream on

Nice work.
What are the odds that they'll reuse the same old engine? Or, use the same engine but pretend like it's new? :T
They will do the second, its what they did with skyrim.
No way in Hell they use the same engine as 3 or New Vegas. I'm doubting they'll even use the same engine as Skyrim, since at this point it'll most likely be on PS 4 and Xbox One. It'll most likely be a heavily updated and modified version of their engine brought to take advantage of being on the new gen consoles.
....
The engine used in skyrim is the exact same one used in marowind, just with a new scripting system...
There going to use it agian.
Um, not necessarily? That's an incredibly small sample size to use for a prediction like this.
10 years of bethseda games use that engine.
Marrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, Skyrim.
Newvegas uses it and it is not even a betsheda game.
That is not a small sample size for games.
You have not have never played both Morrowind and Skyrim to think they use the exact same engine. They made changes. It may be the same family, but it is a different version of that engine, and by being a different version it counts as different.
I have played both.
I coded for both.
Under the hood, with the exceptions of scripts, there the same.
...
I take that back, there are downgrades once you jump from FO:NV to Skyrim, as in stuff was cut with no replacment added, animations in particular are much more rigid in structure.
Avid moder, I know more about the capibilities of those engines then some one who just played them

The Creation Engine worked well enough in Skyrim for Bethesda not to completely bin it after one title.
I think they will update it a bit, mibbies get rid of some of the more egregious bugs and so on, but Fallout 4 is going to look really rather familiar, I am afraid.
The Creation engine has been in more than skyrim.
It could be for all we know, they have been working on fallout 4 for a while.
Although why you would not hype it is beyond me.
