The stick you're thinking of is called an onusa. And I don't see how the stick in its tail looks anymore more like that than a broom. Plus its ears look like they could potentially form a hat, and it looks like it's wearing a short skirt, something not part of a miko outfit.

And miko are depicted with brooms because they're always depicted cleaning, unless a witch that uses the broom for things.

Vertigo: I still reckon Fennekin will have regular starter ratio of 7 males:1 female. It's not like the Vulpix line which is majority female.

Well it's possible the broom-tail refers to the care-taking Mikos do. Maybe she takes the tail-broom out and waves it over her head like how they do with the whatever-the-sticks-are-called. Onusa, yeah that.

Also do they have some connection to fire? Like do they light candles in the shrines or something? That would actually fit really well with a fire/psychic typing if so.

Fire has more to do with being fox, same as Ninetales. According to several myths, kitsune can produce fire, which is called kitsunebi, Fox Fire.

Yeah that's true. Ah well the final form will probably put it all together. Personally I find the miko-theme more interesting than the witch theme, even if less likely since we already have two witch-themed mons. Her 2nd form has me liking the fennekin line a lot more though, now Chespin's is dead last and needs some serious awesome points to even consider it anymore.

Your point? Pokemon often get attached gendered pronouns regardless of what their actual gender ratio is. Fennekin's line is feminine looking(thus far) thus I refer to it as such, much like how most refer to Loppunny as female despite having a 50/50% ratio.

No need to be so anal about it.

I'm not that pissed about it hence the pothole.

... I'm, like, a part-time furry of some sort and I still don't see how Fennekin looks particularly feminine.
