For example: Senki Zesshou Symphogear has been bugging me for a while now. I've done light research on it, and for the longest time I couldn't figure out why there's a drop in quality after the first 2 episodes. I've been reading snippets of information over the past few months that's slowly explaining the history of the production. For example: Episode 1 had 16 key animators, whereas Episode 13 had only 10. I don't know the significance of that yet, and I've even heard of conflicting reports of having more key animators usually indicated a slip in the production's schedule (example: Guilty Crown). Another example is the swapping of Encourage Films to Satellite in mid production (though I don't know when), and some of the directors along with it.

My point is: should production notes and production history be mandatory for anime/series pages? I think it would help ease viewers in understanding what they're watching when they have information like that (example: Getter Robo Armageddon swapped directors after the first 3 episodes, and whatever plans the first director had for the OVA he took with him when he left. Which meant dangling plot threads and the sudden gender change of Kei from being boy to becoming a girl between episodes.).

Mandatory? Hell, no. If someone finds it interesting enough to delve into that stuff, fine, they can write it up and put it on the Analysis page. But we're interested more in the storytelling, not the trivia of how many animators there were each season or whatever.

What happened with Symphogear is that they slashed its budget and halved its episode count at the last minute, so everything was thrown into disarray.

I agree on [up], though. Should not be mandatory. That said, I don't see any reason to specifically exclude it.

I'm opposed to using it on the main page's description because it would feel like an awkward digression. However, such material would be very good for analysis, useful notes and or trivia.

Ah, so that's what the Analysis page was for. I always did wondered what it was, and no amount of squinting at the screen could let me discern what it did. *

Most pages don't have anything on the Analysis page, but it's there too be used. For works, things like production notes would be an appropriate use; for tropes, it's the proper place for explaining/exploring the history or basis of the trope, or for in-depth examination of how it works/why it works.
