Ava's Demon

Yeah, it's a little sudden. I don't remember Ava hinting at this side of her before. Well, maybe I'm forgetting.

Some parts of this story work better if you think of the demons as actual parts of the host's personalities, instead of just magic alien warlords stuck in their bodies. Some parts don't. But in this case, I feel like Wrathia being Ava's anger works well.

You have a girl who has basically had nothing go right for her all her life, who has hated herself for her weakness and perceived mental illness. And then through a miraculous power, she managed to unleash those 15 years of repressed anger in spectacular fashion, in a way that was probably very cathartic. Some deep part of her must have wanted this, a way of letting it all out.

Hm, I guess Ava did try to kill herself alongside Wrathia, no?

Keep in mind that the hosts have lived with their demons their entire lives. Well, Ava has, I can't remember the others (it's been a while since I reread the comic). My point is, Wrathia is a much more important part of Ava's life than Ava is of Wrathia's. I can see Wrathia basically being the embodiment of Ava's anger and power while still having her own agenda.

There's no way that the author didn't intend for the interaction between Ava and Wrathia to not have sexual undertones now. It's almost like they're implying that this may have metaphorically between Ava hitting womanhood and her period. And now there's the red, thorny flowers breaking out of her skin, starting from the waist and thighs outward...

She confirmed it as Ava falling in love with her dark side.

Well, that's pretty fucked up.

Wee bit of difference in motive too. Ava was literally riding a high. Maggie made her decision like a stone cold killer.

Riding a high after escaping from a machine that was supposed to vivisect her and replace her body with a TITAN body.

So.....Ava does have feelings for her, and isn't over her, as Maggie put it. She finds this pathetic.

Look, I don't exactly support homosexual relationships, (no, I am not a homophobe, thank you) but sweet Jesus Christ, Maggie, it is not okay to treat someone who has romantic feelings for you like that! Let her down gently, geez!

The fandom right now seems to be split between "Ava is bisexual confirmed / Ava and Maggie may have dated in the past " and "Wow Maggie really sucks ."

Even if we assume Wrathia possessed Ava and did something really terrible to Maggie, yeah, it's cruel to say her affections are pathetic. I mean I still like her as a character, but as a person she needs to fucking chill.

From Maggie's perspective, Ava just killed a building full of people because she didn't want to let her go. After Maggie had already made it pretty clear that she didn't want to associate with her.

Ava is also explaining herself very badly.

And Maggie is somebody who latches onto random people to obsess over, to the point of trying to influence them via her demon.

So yeah, still not the person to judge anybody. :/

Eh, I mean I am fine with them just being there, and will keep to myself if they do the same. I define homophobe as someone who just hates homosexuals completely and irrationally.

You're bringing them harm all the same. If you have the privilege of being with the object of your affection in public, it is absolutely homophobic to deny the same to SSA couples.

You really gotta wonder what kind of trauma the Wrathia-possessed Ava gave Maggie, if she's literally closing her eyes and putting her hands over her ears in denial. That's not just disdain, that screams "I have unresolved issues I really don't wanna face".
