not found that biome yet nope.

My berry farm is doing amazing, plus I have enough barley and wheat to make bread as long as I need it. Now I just need to get my hands on some metal so I can get an apiary running, I have so many Sorcerous and Mystical bees. I want to put them to work.

Look into Tinker's Construct. Bronze tools are a bit more durable than iron and one of the easier options pre-Nether. Also, flint tools are a bit sturdier than stone. And you only need one diamond to upgrade them to be able to mine obsidian, and you can put the equivalent of Fortune and Efficiency on them with sufficient amounts of lapis and redstone.

The reason I hate bronze is because it's a royal pain in the ass to get.

Not really? You can find tin and copper in gravel deposits on the surface now, and fairly easily in surface caves. And I'll have to check, but FTB usually leaves Forestry's bronze crafting on, which is just 3 copper and 1 tin in a crafting table. (Edit: Yes, it's enabled.) (If it's not, you can make it in a Tinker's Construct smeltery, which you'll need to build anyway if you want to make metal tools from that mod.

which also requires a plethora of machinery :/

which is time consuming to make when all I want is a fething apiary without trudging halfway up the tech tree.

You don't really have to. You can make four bronze by putting three copper ingots and one tin ingot in a crafting table. Make a basic engine to power the carpenter and you're done.

hrmm, it was only giving me recipes for powders :/

I still need to find some tin though. I don't have any yet. I guess that's next on the list

So guess what I found in the log when doing ID resolving.

Edit: Also some microblocks mod seems to be installed, although I can't identify it from the list of mods.

Okay so the pack's virtually all working but Additional Buildcraft Objects just does not want to cooperate with item I Ds and not overwriting half of the Ars magical things. I'm just gonna go ahead and take it out since we can always add it in another time.

Edit: Never mind. It turned out ABO and DenPipes share an item name so it's actually the one from DenPipes that's causing an issue.

After way too much delaying*

and fiddling with configs, Tropecraft 1.0 is now ready for download and play!

Download here.

This pack is built around the Unleashed pack, with the following changes:

  • Biomes o' Plenty enabled
  • Power Converters enabled
  • Hats and Hatstands enabled
  • Xeno's Reliquary enabled
  • Additional Buildcraft Objects added
  • Ars Magica added
  • Better Storage added
  • Dimensional Doors added
  • Translocator added

As usual, replace your instMods, mods, and config folders with the ones in the zip. Everything should work if you overwrite the Direwolf20 pack, but I would recommend just using Unleashed to be sure.

Lance, if you're using the Unleashed pack, you can load your world in this with no issues. If you're using the D20 pack then there might be some conflicts from the most recent update. I'd recommend backing up your world in either case.

The "microblock thing" is the new stuff from Chickenbones and comes with Wireless Redstone. I haven't seen a way to get the microblocks outside of creative mode yet, however.

Whats a good mod for single player that isn't too complicated?

I'm finding direwolf twenty to be plenty enjoyable.

aside from my brief bee related tirade.

and I'm using unleashed for this load. Direwolf 20 is for my SSP

Need more information to make that question answerable. What do you like doing in Minecraft? Are you looking for a complete overhaul of the game or stuff to enhance vanilla? Do you really want a single mod or are you interested in playing two or more together? Do you want high tech stuff? Magic? Agriculture? Building pretty things? Building automated things?

In terms of mods that offer compelling standalone experiences for single-player (and multiplayer), I would point at:

Most of us are using various modpacks, collections of mods mostly currated by Feed The Beast.

Thaumcraft and Tinker's are good places to start because while I wouldn't call them uncomplicated, they have in-game books that explain most things to you.

Oh, for anyone using Multi MC and trying to import the new pack:

http://forum.feed-the-beast.com/threads/unleased-works-on-ftb-laucher-import-to-multimc-and-it-crashes-i-made-no-changes-after-import.27336/

I was having this problem and it's apparently not just me. The fix is included here.

I want to do a mostly vanilla but at the same time I'm discovering that solo is pretty damn boring.

the new (heavily modded) server will be up Soon™

you're probably welcome to join us! you don't even need to use all the mods, the last server I was almost entirely magic based, focusing on thaumcraft and ars magica

[up][up][up] At this point I'd say anyone experiencing any sort of mysterious issue should try changing the max perm size before anything else, given that cropped up when the game crashed on every Mac in existence and in a couple other weird things.

... I hope I'm not the only one who misread that as "max sperm size"

[up][up][up][up][up]Well, what do you find are the more boing parts, and/or wish were more interesting? I'm not sure there's any one mod that does "Vanilla but better", rather you'll want to pick and choose some to run together.

You could also grab one of the modpacks, pick one or two things that sound interesting to you and run with it, but starting with the larger modpacks tends to induce an initial reaction of "omg-so-much-new-stuff"-shock.
