The Modded Minecraft Thread

I finally decided to try the 1.5.2 beta pack that FTB hosts privately. I added Ars Magica which didn't need any config modifications (but did have the fire and ice runes mis-labled as conveyor belts for whatever reason) and Dimensional Doors, which did require some ID changes. Having a boatload of fun, and I've already discovered a few really cool things

First is craftable Frying Pans, which let you cook up to 7 slots worth of food all at once. Not other items, however.

Second is the upgrades to Ars Magica. Wizard houses are now trapped and have loot.

Third is the to-scale sequoia trees, which are plantable. So long as you have 49 of their saplings. :V

Its up, just a glitch.

If the server says "Communication Error," it's up. If it's anything else, then it likely isn't.

So when I run the file I get a whole list of mods I'm missing. however, I have them on. Is the server running on the recommended version or an earlier one?

So, I've discovered that there is something seriously wrong with the Misc Peripherals computerists backpack. When it's not occupying id 31999, it flips the absolute frak out with NEI.

The best thing about the frying pan is that it's an effective weapon. Being able to cook with it is a bonus. :D

If you craft it together with blaze powder, you can even put fire aspect on it and do both at the same time!

I've had to disable Misc Peripherals entirely, because simply having a computerist's backpack in an inventory crashes the game. Plus, it mysteriously overwrote another item id for no logical reason, because it suddenly turned up in one of my chests.

Have I mentioned the Filler is amazing? Because it is.

I am now dicking about in the Direwolf20 modpack. got a basic thaumcraft setup, and now I'll be starting my bee breeding project.

For the first time ever, I am wishing I had more rotten flesh. it's so useful for making tallow...

First purestrain hive get! I now have an apiary that produces nothing but fast working nobles.

once I get a few more strains nailed down I'll start attempting to iron out the problematic areas of the genome...

the only downside is that I'm making/using so many magic frames that it's wisp city up in here...

I almost have industrial bees, and I'm struggling to rebreed my imperial princess that got eaten by a crash. The strain wasn't even close to stable yet, but it was really promising looking and I was really hoping to try and breed some...

When we do the next pack update, can we add Mine Factory Reloaded?

I don't think it adds that much. Most of the items and machines it introduces already exist in FTB. Like item routers and mob spawners.

Apparently 1.6 will require a world restart. Not sure what to do about that. It might be possible to export the overwold into 'nother mystcraft age if the change over isn't world breaking. 'Course if it ain't world breaking I don't see why we'd require a world restart.

-cracks knuckles- Welp; guess I should get to updating the server. I'll see about getting Flan's mod running again. I'm not sure why but there's just something really cool about having proper vehicles in minecraft. I think I like the idea of designing the infrastructure for it. Creating a functional airport and highway system sounds more fulfilling then just creating a linking book.

I'd also like to get the missile mod from voltz but I'm not sure if that would even work in ftb.

I would be totally fine with starting a new world, despite Xenodu being awesome and all of us having god-tier power armor. We could actually make some sort of hub town, and having both Railcraft and Flan's mod would be nice.

... Wait, when you say 1.6, do you mean there would be horses too? ANOTHER mode of transportation.

I think I would make a tech base that was a floating island or something, but have most of everything in a single ground base.

I think the missile mod WOULD work, but what would we use it on? Each other? Unless we have dedicated Pv P events, I can't think of a reason to have it.

I really like the idea of an underwater base but the oceans are a bit sparse right now. It'd be cool to look out the glass and see sharks and sting rays and Cthulhus all hanging out.

By the time we restart we should have access to vanilla quartz so we could do a roman-esque design for some buildings.

If Flan's mod is included, what content packs would we be using? I'd like to not have the guns mod, though I am fine with WW 2 airplanes.

I wouldn't mind having Mo Creatures installed in the server, personally, but that's just me.

And if you want server details, PM thatguythere and he can add you to the whitelist and give you the IP.

I hear on the grapevine that Mo Creatures is a drain on servers, and ours has enough issues as it is, IMO.

@Blizzard: MFR adds a bunch of machines which interact very well with the other things we have installed, and a fair number of its features improve on the ones we already have.

@changing versions: If we do change to a newer version we'll need to do quite a bit of fiddling first and get rid of our RP 2 stuff. I think there are some mods though that provide things like microblocks and red wire. Tinker's Construct looks really cool, even though that would require a new world for the ores.

Saint, if you're updating the server then, would you be able to add MFR and Dimensional Doors? The Ars configs also still need to be changed.

Why is RP 2 a problem?

Though i am a little disappointed my stuff will begone I think that working on a proper hub and building roads and stuff sounds cool.

RP 2 isn't updated past 1.4.7 yet,

I'm fairly sure Saint wasn't saying we'd update versions yet but was just commenting on whenever we do. The current update is just to the newest version of the DW 20 pack, which is still on 1.4.7 right now.

Although if we wanted to it would certainly be feasible to update to the beta version of the 1.5 ultimate pack. Most things are updated right now; RP 2 is the only major mod that hasn't updated, and we could install MFR and Immibis' Microblocks to replace the major features. We have been on this map for about six months; a server restart in return for all the new features and mods in 1.5 seems like fun. If we do end up doing that, I can make up a modified version of the 1.5 beta pack for us to use.

Find your direwolf20 directory

direwolf20 directory > replace the instMods folder with the one provided.

direwolf20 directory > minecraft > replace the remaining three folders.

I lost X item, can I get it back?

If it's lost to a bug, sure. Contact me on the forums/in-game/pm and tell me about it. If you were derping around and fell into lava, sorry. No refunds.

Can you add X mod in?

If it's for our current version of minecraft and I can figure out how and there's no major incompatibilities and it's stable and it doesn't lag us to hell and back and I have the time and- Short answer: maybe.

I was hoping it'd be another modpack since that's the one I use for my single player world. I guess I'll just make a copy.
