The funniest part is when they wait in front of the goalpost, because it takes longer to tally a < 30 second time bonus than it does to wait till the 0:31 mark and get a smaller one.

Hell, in this one it takes longer to tally up the score than it does to go through the levels!

I am highly appreciative of this senseless abuse of Super Mario 64. Silly Bowser, stars are for kids!

There's something oddly enthralling about watching a beloved childhood memory get completely demolished in an hour and a half by soulless machines.

I love this TAS of Cave Story, because it starts off not all that different from a normal run, and just gets increasingly crazy as the game progresses. And because of the commentary (if you turn on closed captioning) explaining what tricks the speedrunner used.

How to win a game by making the code's metaphorical brain shit itself.

@Both of those videos: Imma quote a comment from the first one:

All I could do was just stare in blind confusion at what I was watching.

And then the game ended.

And I was even more confused.

TAS = Tool-assisted speedrun. It is when somebody essentially tries to beat a game as fast as possible by using trickery to do so, possibly hilariously breaking the game in the process.

A 30-minute run of Ocarina of Time.

Gets sword, then glitches through a wall in Lost Woods to warp to Zora, goes to Kakariko to get the bottle from Cucco lady, and collects bugs. Save & Quit back to Link's house, mysteriously has exactly enough rupees for the shield from previous shenanigans, glitch under Mido to Deku Tree. Bypasses slingshot to break first floor web, bypasses entire bottom floor with a jump slash ricochet, kills Gohma in three seconds with a Deku Stick.

The trick — Killing blow lands at the same time as dying to Gohma's first attack, so player dies immediately after cutscene ends and exit teleporter appears. Save and continue. Go back down to Gohma's lair.

The part I'm not sure what the hell happened — Release and re-catch bugs (not sure why), then hit the teleporter in a way that misses the heart container, starts the warp, but then lets him move before the warp actually goes off. I'm not certain, but I get the feeling the heart container spawns during runtime after the boss cutscene, so by dying it never spawned, and if it's not there it messes up the script to walk into the teleporter.

The other trick — Runs back out the door to Gohma's Room right as he gets warped out. I assume trying to simultaneously handle both transitions causes some kind of horrendous racetrack pointer error, because when the screen fades back in he's spat out at the start of the escape from Hyrule Castle at the end of the game.

Walk up, see cutscene where Ganondorf dies from after the first fight that didn't happen. Escape proceeds normally if quickly, fight Ganon...as Young Link. Uses a clipping glitch with Deku Stick that hits every frame to end first phase in seconds, gets Kokiri Sword back, and uses jump slashes to bypass need for Light Arrows to finish fight.

Young Link dramatically stabs Ganon in the head with the three feet of blank air in front of his too-short arms and too-short sword.

EDIT: Ah, I was slightly wrong. The bugs thing was in order to use a glitch that lets you use any item (in this case the sword) as an ocarina, which interrupts the warp cutscene if timed properly.

The final hit is delivered and at this exact moment, Link's journey is complete and he becomes a man (as can be heard in his voice).
