Even worse, then. You are adapting a movie about family and tearing out the, well, FAMILY at its core. That is the pinaccle of Completely Missing The Point.
I'm excited for this.
An action show about women. Ooooh boy the network execs are going to have a headache trying to figure out how to market this without canceling it midseason.
if that's gonna be their new look, i can dig it.
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not. It's only a special. Ah crap.
On the other hand, that promo image is awesome. I could dig seeing that look in animation.
That's a very creative poster indeed.
And who knows? If the special does well enough, it might lead into a new series.

From FOP Thread:
Once again, i'm right. I'm so sick and tired of being right all the time!
If it actually does do better than expected AND gets some help from Craig Mc Cracken, it'll replace the spot for Beware The Batman.

Personally, I'd rather they not make a new series for the show. The show itself got really stale in its last season or two, and besides that, I'm not really sure there's realistically much new they can do with the show. (And if you have any ideas, please refrain from sharing them if they're very fanficcy ideas.) It had its day, and it was a great show, but let's not try to drag it out more than it needs. Think of Dexters Laboratory's revival, or Family Guy'snote , etc. You can't just bring something back and automatically expect it to be good, even if it has the original creator[s]'[s] involvement.

Insert witty 'n clever quip here. One reason why most TT fans hate Teen Titans Go. I say if it we're going for a new series, make it more about what BTB went for: A serialized plot. Almost like what they did on Power Puff Girls Z for starters... Oh, yeah. There really isn't much else to do.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceBut most people hate PPGZ (from what I've seen at least), so I'm not certain taking that route would be beneficial. Even then, I don't think a serialized plot throughout the series would suit it—if nothing else, it'd be moving away from the spirit of the original show. The original PPG was first and foremost a comedy (at least, when it wasn't outright being a kids' show), and a silly comedy at that. It has more in common with Monty Python than it does something like Teen Titans. Hell, it has more in common with Teen Titans Go than it does Teen Titans.

Insert witty 'n clever quip here. Also, Cartoon Network's kinda filled The Powerpuff Girls niche with Steven Universe.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Only if it doesn't get the shaft because of CN's sexist ways.
After hearing about CN's sexism, more and more, I wish Rebecca Sugar had made Steven Universe an online series - that way, it's not just focused on Steven and we can actually get our heroines doing shit like a real action show would allow!
Even if I had different face, I AM STILL DISGRACED.0dd1- Let's not forget Sponge Bob's revival or Ben Rants (Benthelooney)'s revival.
This may be good given that it has involvement with writers from pre-cancellation. The Chris Savino episodes were okay though not as good as the Mc Cracken era (I even thought this at the time that the original run was airing). Then again, Sponge Bob has some of it's old writers and yeah....I'm willing to give this a chance though.

Um, pretty much everything I've read about Sugar's conception of the show make it look like Steven was always going to be the central figure with the other Gem's adventures off on the sidelines. And even then they clearly get a lot to do. Sooo...
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Sooo... maybe I'm overreacting, then. That doesn't change the fact that CN is never going to get a stronger/more positive-in-reception target audience with noise like this, sadly.
Real shame, knowing the fanbase this show we're talking about (and in lesser cases Uncle Grandpa, including myself, since I like said show MORE than Steven Universe so far!) here is quite big for so early in the game.
Even if I had different face, I AM STILL DISGRACED.I feel like the sexism really only comes into play with "action" shows. With comedy, the merch emphasis is placed more on backpacks and shirts and plushes and whatnot, which are considered more gender-neutral. By contrast, the action shows evidently live or die by their action figure line, which CN refuses to market to girls for some reason.
The action shows are also far-less creator driven, and overseen by DC Comics, which has a terrible track record with feminism. I mean, if you look at the comedy line-up—yeah, it's all dudes as leads, but they're much better at making the women a significant part of the supporting cast with rich lives of their own, something DC is consistently terrible at. I can't imagine a woman getting the breaks on an action show that Rebecca Sugar has, and I can't imagine someone as nuanced and complex as Princess Bubblegum showing up on Young Justice or whatever.
I honestly think it's less Cartoon Network than it is DC, and also the overall marketing department (which is separate from actual creative development but still has way too much power.)
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Either way, people like you and me may just have an excuse to watch this channel even less in the coming years ahead, once their better comedies inevitably come to their end, knowing this terrible development... And CN almost seemed to be getting so much better, but what do I know?!
Even if I had different face, I AM STILL DISGRACED.I'm not really seeing a decline, nor do I know what "terrible development" you're talking about. I mean, standard protocol is to cannibalize their best shows when they end for future projects—can you imagine what sort of amazing stuff is going to come out of the writers of Adventure Time, Regular Show, and Gumball?

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. When did this become CN sexism thread II and not about the glory we have seeing our childhood again... in a visibly poor as fuck style?
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceit doesn't look that bad. maybe it'll look better when it's in motion.
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.
IIRC, the show wasn't supposed to be in continuity with the American series originally. It was supposed to be set in its own universe, and the early references to Lilo were shoehorned in by the dub. But then I think the Japanese took that ball and ran with them (or Disney forced them to), which is why Lilo guest starred in a later season (which I haven't watched yet myself).
