Um...I find all the debate this show kicked up kinda interesting, because it isn't the first kid's cartoon to feature cross-dressing. Way back in the 90's, Canada produced Cybersix (based on a comic from Argentina), which featured a female super-heroine who lived her days as a male English lit teacher:
Having grown up watching this , She Zow doesn't seem all that inventive to me.

Lots of cartoons shown characters in drag/cross-dressing. Bugs comes to mind. I just never heard of cartoons that's premise is based on it. Until recently though lol

Supports cartoons being cartoony!True...but I think the thing that works for Cybersix is that it's not treated as a big deal that she disguises herself as a guy (nor is it played for comedy like Bugs Bunny). She seems perfectly comfortable living as both genders, expressing both masculinity and femininity. And when people do find out, they're not grossed out, only mildly shocked at most.

Is seems like it's based on a comic book. Is it?
Edit: Yep. I was right ^^

I think what comes to mind when people hear about this is how we portray crossdressing characters in cartoons. Bugs' era found it humorous to see a toon dress in women's clothing, and there weren't any FCC laws back then to limit it. Anime like Ranma 1/2 can get away with it because it was made more for an adult demographic. Nowadays, ever since Word of God made it sound like a man doing feminine things is a sin parents find anything like this to be shunned due to their beliefs.
America has become more tolerant since then, but not very.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceActually, when i first heard of the premise of She Zow, this came to mind:

Granted, this was much darker, but still,,
Note that Looney Tunes was originally aimed at adults. Also, rabbits wearing anything is unusual, so moral guardians probably aren't worried about Bugs promoting gender non conformity.
don’t call me nerdy [img][/imgRabbits wearing things are unusual, but superheroes with superpowers just flat out don't exist.
What?
I highly doubt Looney tunes was targeted towards adults only. Where are people getting the just adults thing from? The merchandise back in the day was targeted to the kiddies and shorts can be enjoyed by everyone. Especially kiddies. Nothing about them scream ADULT. I see kids watching looney tunes more often than adults anyway.

Supports cartoons being cartoony! Please stay on topic, you guys.
The point is She Zow took a simple gag, and extended it to a more importaint level, which many "pure" families find as a sin and assholes will say is gay. This series took a risk and it did a wonderful job with it, including a holiday special. Let's hope Obie Scott Wade found a new project to pitch to another station.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceSorry. Didn't mean to get too off topic '_'
Supports cartoons being cartoony!Big bump.
Apparently the show is getting a comic book series? Hmm. Obie says it's coming out in March.

The Hub/Discovery Family also dropped the airing rights to the show last October (or at least that's what the Screwed By The Network page says), so the creator might have a chance to shopping the series / another season around to another network? I don't know how this works, don't quote me.

"We be we baby!"The biggest bump in the history of mankind.
Man, I wish this show had a second season plus a crossover with Dan Vs. (as I also like that show).
(20M) Time to get zowy with it and gotta go fast! https://shiverthermal.carrd.co/Maybe airing both SheZow and Dan Vs. on the same network that also aired My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic wasn't exactly the best idea. Though, I do wish that both shows continued, perhaps on streaming services like Amazon Prime or Apple TV+.
Oh, and has there been any word on the SheZow comic book since the end of January of 2015? I suspect not, and that the comic book series was quietly shelved.

Seems like Obie has shelved the comic series after only one issue.
