Hmmmmm...I can see merits for both. The Archer pic's a more direct version of the trope, but I know Eddie has a soft spot for the Marx Brothers so he might make that one an admin keep.
I would argue that the new image shows the trope clearly, concisely, and directly. Much more so than the original picture, Trope Namer or no. And isn't that criteria the biggest factor in picking a trope image?
This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...Clarity is nice. Funny + clarity = better.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyOf course. But I'm still of the opinion that, outside of context, the old image is as clear as mud.
I will admit that I have not seen the thing that the old image is referencing, so in my particular case, the image seems neither clear nor funny (and quite frankly, not even correct). But I think a trope image should be accessible whether or not you've seen the source for it.
This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...You don't see a swordfish in that image? The image is the namer, classic, and funny.
Goal: Clear, Concise and Witty
The original picture was from the Trope Namer, Horsefeathers. Harpo Marx holding a fish with a sword in its mouth, to get through the door of a speakeasy. Somone with an IP address replaced it with a plain text 'picture' of a box saying 'C:/ Enter Password' with 'GUEST' typed below it, and announced that he had done so because he was Entry Pimping Archer. The picture was changed back and forth a couple of times. The original one is in the discussion page for The Password Is Always "Swordfish" and I'd like it put back.
(Yeah, it's been a while. My wikiwalking just came back to the page...)
