Bounty hunters of the apocalypse discussion

Hey Firock - when are those NPC signup sheets coming in? I've been looking forward to reading those. And also - since we only have three active players now, should we be doing anything to increase our numbers?

I am back!

Yes, which is why I'm actually going to push the NPC sheets back in favor of something that should help out with that a lot more. Something that I didn't particularly want to do, but that I decided while on vacation I should bite the bullet and do.

Rewrite the opening post of the signups. (Yes. Again.)

I feel that the biggest problem is simply that the signup OP is probably scaring away potential players due to how huge it is. So I'm going to work on rewriting it to be less verbose and more concise, while hopefully still containing all the relevant information it currently does. The signup is currently 4,847 words; I hope to get it down to half that or lower.

In the meantime, I'm still getting settled in after my vacation, and trying to catch up on things, so I don't think I'll be posting tonight. I could really use a post from Atomic before I try to continue the current scene, and also if Eachiunn doesn't start posting again I'll probably have to consider him out of the RP.

And while I'm here, my schedule for this week: Regular work shifts on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Nothing else currently known to me as of yet.

Good to hear you're back. A little BHOTA shaped hole had appeared in my soul for a bit there . Seriously, though, new players would be awesome. I'll see if I can't spread the word.

Anyway, as mentioned I'm not going to try posting tonight, though I will try to get a post up tomorrow night after work. (The shift doesn't go terribly late, but I do have some things to do after it, so we'll see when that's gonna end up being I guess.) I'll try to work on the new signup as I can through the week, and hopefully have it up by next weekend or early next week.

Whoop, new site update kinda threw me through a loop there. Gonna try to post tonight, though I've got other things to do before then, so it probably won't be soon.

Woke up earlier than I usually do on my days off here. Gonna try to be finishing up the new signups tonight, as well as some other things going on I may need to pay attention to. So if I do post in the main thread tonight, it won't be until later.

In the meantime though, my schedule for next week: Regular work schedules on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday. Nothing else concretely planned as of yet.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and text colors don't seem to be working for me currently, which sucks. Testing... Ohp, nevermind, they're working again.

Kinda meant to post tonight, but I had writer's block after work that I just couldn't quite shake off. Sorry guys. Tomorrow I'll try to post after I get home from work.

But just so that I'm not leaving you guys with nothing, have a short update on the new signup progress: The rough draft of the editing is done, which has brought the 4,855 word signup down to 3,193 words. This leaves me 765(.5) words away from what I'd like to hit, so over the next few days I'm gonna try and take some more looks through it to see if there's any more superfluous wording that can be shortened/removed and whatnot.

Cool. I'm sure you already thought of this but make sure you post in the signup thread after you've edited to give it a bump (and hopefully new players).

Well I'm contemplating whether it'll be an edit or a whole new thread posted. That way I could reserve the second and third posts for Lisa and the NPCs, and we won't have character signups that aren't in the game clogging up the thread. But I'm not certain which is a better idea.

Anyway, woke up earlier than I expected to, but my writer's block is feeling selective now, so I may end up posting... But probably not here. Still gonna try to post here after work though.

Had to get up early so I'm on for a while before work; don't plan on posting now for obvious reasons. Still fretting about what to do with the new signup stuff; partially because I haven't actually gotten any work done on it since I last talked about it. (Life has been really distracting lately.) It'll probably be a new thread, which I'll try to get up within the next few days.

But speaking of which, my upcoming schedule: I'm going to a family dinner tomorrow, (Sunday) then I've got work next week on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. I've got new computer parts ordered to come, which should be arriving near the end of next week; when they do, I'm gonna have to wipe my hard drive and reinstall, so I may effectively be out for a few days whilst getting the technical stuff like driver updates done.

No problem. I'm patient.

Got a bit of time here before work, so I'm posting to say that I'm going to make myself get the new signups posted tonight! (I'm going with it being a new thread.)

I still haven't gotten it to 1/2 the words of the current signup, and unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to. But, I got it to less than 3,000 words from the ~4,800 it was at before, which I'm going to say "good enough" to. So just one more once-over after work, then I'll post it.

And uh, let's see, something to make it up to you guys that I might not necessarily want to do, as punishment to myself if I don't get it posted tonight. Um... I know! Everyone will get to request one thing that I either have to put in the game, or at least put a reference to in game! (Which I mean, you guys can do whenever you want and as many times as you want really, but normally I won't force myself to put things into the game if I don't want to.)

As for a post in the main thread, I've been waiting for Atomic to post, but if not I'll see about getting something short up in response to Fantasy and Troy tonight anyways.

I don't know if I'd be able to do ole' Murray justice; at most I'd probably just have him visible in the "background" so to speak.

Not that it entirely matters though, as I posted the new signup thread!

EDIT: Anyway, the main thread post I mentioned before will have to wait for a while, as I have some of that selective writer's block now.

Well crap. I'm sorry to hear that, but I won't hold it against you; real life first, yadda yadda.

I'm honestly not sure if I'll continue the game then, since it's down to just me, Fantasy, and Troy, with Troy stating that he'll have to leave soon as well.

Maybe. I'd probably have to find some way to condense the info in the bestiary while still having it all available.

A big problem with the first try of this RP was that I didn't have that information available, and the players kept getting confused about information their characters should have known.

Or maybe I'll do a slightly different premise and make one about the start of this apocalypse... Well, it probably won't be any time soon, at any rate.

Or maybe you could pick up where we left off and have a new group of people go after Mephisto. Or deal with the world after Mephisto is gone? Or whatever. I'd be down for a reboot though definitely.

If this is the official goodbye, I just want you to know that this was my first RP ever and that it's been one of my favorites of all time. You did a great job with the setting, characters, and the story. So thanks Firock. I'm glad to have been part of such a long-lasting RP and I'm sad to see it go. Firock, you should be proud of maintaining such an awesome RP for so long. See you around.

Oh I am. I just would have liked to see it through to the end. The main reason I'd think to start from the beginning of the apocalypse is because then it would be in character for everyone not to know WTF to expect, so I wouldn't have to have the big bestiary that scares newcomers away. But I'd basically have to redo the entire plot plan, so hence why it definitely wouldn't be any time soon.

I'll give it a week, then if there's no new developments and/or signups by then, call it official. After that I guess I could start disclosing the planned future plot points, twists, and boss battles if you want.

Also if you're simply interested in RPs that I'm running, I've already got another one in the works. (It has no relation to this RP though.)
