Wait....what?...I don't really get what your saying...Are you asking why should it even be re-released here, or...?

As for it not being released on the Virtual Console until now, I also dunno. From every site I see(give Earthbound Central, for instance) it notes no legal issues for Japan, so...yeah. I just don't really know why they hadn't released until bow, but I'm sure it doesn't have anything to do with that.

I realize now that MOTHER 3 has quite a bit of "dying cat" synths like in here and here. How can it make them sound good while Sonic 4 can't?

Which reminds me, I need to find that "clean" version of the M3 soundtrack. I'd love to have a clean version of the Natural Killer Cyborg music.

One of my favorite areas in M3 is that diner along the highway where all there really is to do is change the jukebox a lot. It's such a simple place, but something about the atmosphere of it always made me feel happy.

[up]Gilvasunner has added cleaned-up versions of the MOTHER 3 soundtrack on You Tube. They're not perfect, since the method to clean them up is very recent, but they're mostly the tracks as you know them.

The .ogg version isn't the clean version, though. It's the one with "fuzz."

So I've been playing the games in order, currently I'm at least half-way through Earthbound. I really liked Mother 1. And since I'll be going on vacation with no internet, I'll have time to play the rest of the series without distractions! So... huzzah. I actually wrote a really long review on Mother 1.

If anybody's interested, the link is: http://fantendo.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:1337doom/GAME_REVIEW_-_MOTHER

(the part on the end about me being unable to play Earthbound on my emulator is now obsolete, as I figured out a way to play it.)

What MOTHER game the best of the three in your opinions?

My opinion sort of ping-pongs between Earthbound and M3. I like both of them for different reasons, and they sort of flutter back and forth in my esteem. Zero didn't really captivate me the same way, even with the "Easy Patch," probably because of those ludicrously huge and empty maps.

I've been following this MOTHER remake hack. They seem to be progressing very smoothly, and they're fixing the huge empty maps of the original by making them smaller (though that's partially due to less map space).

[up][up] Mine is MOTHER 3 without a doubt. The story is deeper, the menu interface is much better, the graphics are better, the battle system is better. Everything in MOTHER 3 was better than it was in Earthbound

I just finished Mother 3 some days ago and saw why people put so much emphasis on the heart thrending part. Oh god. There were some other things that stick out for me:

  • The song's beat thing, never got more than 2.
  • People are right. Knowing some plot points doesn't reduce their impact. Goddamm.
  • Some anemies, even from the final dungeon, become trivially easy to beat when you know wich of Duster's tool to use, it get ridiculous when you go trough a whole room without getting hit even once.
  • Dat Ending.

Seeing how things turned out, I wonder how the brave souls making the fan sequel would follow up with the series tradition of having the loose ends of a game coming back in the other.

mother 3 is my favourite, though i prefer earthbound music over mother 3 music. they're both really really good, but earthbound has more tracks i can remember and really enjoy, while mother 3 seems to have a little difficulty catching and keeping my interest in the music department.

They finally cleared the legal issues? Or could they have changed a little bit in order to get around them?

You know, it's funny. While I am so relieved (and hype) that we're finally getting EarthBound: THE cult classic game rereleased, i'm kind of...over EarthBound: the SNES RPG. Like, i'm not as excited for the game as a game anymore.

Granted, i'll still get it when/if I get a Wii U in exchange for emulating, but I feel it's a little too late getting here for anyone that wants it for the gameplay.

Apparently, it was this song that held back the VC release for a while. It could mean that the song may have been removed.
